So much work has been done to improve the look of Kirkby but everyone seems to have missed what has been going on beneath their feet. Walk from Ryedale Garages up to the top of the town and look at the pavement. It is awful. It is like a third-world country with all the tatty repairs and uncaring matching of surfaces. Look at the cobbles outside the start of High Market Place the repair material is soft and crumbly and cobble density reduced (presumably because someone could use the cobbles elsewhere).
Is there anything that can be done?

You are completely correct. This is not a case of a carbuncle on the face of an old friend but psoriasis, eczema and acne too!

We pay so much in council taxes and yet little seems to be spent on our area. Look at the small roads north of Kirkby. Their are poorly repaired potholes, grass growing down the centre. It's hardly better than rural India!

The government has spent 10 years running up huge amounts of spending. There is going to be severe cut backs in the next few years. The countryside is a subject that Labour dislike and so get used to potholes and tattiness.
