Does anyone else feel badly let down by the Town and District council about the state of the footpaths over the last week? It has been absolutely deadly walking anywhere in town. We actually live on the road to the Doctors and it does not appear to have been gritted let alone the footpaths. We have actually used the grit from the nearest bin ourselves and tried to do something outside our house and path and cleared some ice from the footpath for a stretch, but then why do we pay our council tax? We have discovered that £14 from each household (and business I believe) that pays Council Tax is used to keep the paths clear and safe!!! I assume that in that case every household in Ryedale will be receiving that amount as a rebate on their next bill!!!!
Since the works moved from Manor Vale to Pickering I am told that the footpath down from Ryedale Crescent down to Dale End no longer gets gritting treatment and is hence treacherous for the many elderly that live there. Can anyone pass this on to the council ?
