Not sure if this helps but one of my ancestors was a John Williamson born c1765 in Westerdale Yorkshire - he married Ann Garbutt also from Westerdale on 26th June 1790 in Westerdale. John had to post a 200 pound surety until it was proven that there was no previous family connection that might make the marriage illegal. They subsequently had a duaghter jane Williamson born in 1790 who married John bearcroft on 22nd August 1814 in Westerdale. John bearcroft was the great grandfather of my grandmother Greta Bearcroft.
I have a copy of the marriage registration and the surety document if required.
I will be in Westerdale ( for the first time) in May and will be looking further into these details.
