Frank family

Hi Steve, just come across your post.
I am searching for my ancestors and have got up to a Robert Frank born 1801 in Hutton-le-Hole (on some census he his down as born 1800) I havn't got the link yet but there was a James Frank born at Ox Close, Hutton-le-Hole in 1797 (although some census have him down as born 1801, which would clash with Roberts birthday) I believe ( just guessing at this stage) James may have been Roberts brother, if the James (Jemmy) Frank that you are looking for was born in 1760 maybe he was their father or grandfather. At this stage I have to link Robert with Ox Close however it is very likey there is a connection. I need to do further work on this by paying a visit to the area archives sometime.
However
From Robert I am a direct descendant, via Moses Frank b1836 Barnsley S. Yorks, William Frank b 1864 Barnsley, Arthur Frank b 1888 Barnsley, Arthur Frank b 1920 Barnsley, Myself, Anthony Frank b 1955 Thurgoland, Barnsley.
From what I can make out Robert Frank married Mary (unknown)b 1809 from nearby Thornton-le-Moor then moved to York or vice versa. His first son Thomas was born in York in 1827, then 2 others Hannah 1829 and Charles 1834, his next son Moses ( my line) was born in Cawthorne, Barnsley South Yorkshire
hey had a further 4 children. On all censuses, Robert was down as a Weaver by trade.
Hope that helps, we might be related ha ha

Hi Tony,
sorry to have taken awhile.Had to get over Jet lag(Western Oz is a bloody long way)
I am checking to find links and if i have any success I will inform you.
I visited the North Yorks Record Office whilst in the UK at Malpas road Northallerton.
I think you will benefit from a visit,I noticed some stuff on Robert.
You need to phone the office as visits are by appointment only.
I am also looking for some copies of the Ryedale Historian issues 13 and 14. It contains The Frank family history written by the late Bert frank-founder of the Ryedale museum. If you track down these issues can you send me copies?
Ryedale and the surrounding area is a Frank stronghold. I suppose we could well be related as the frank's bred like rabbits.
Some of my ancestors are also listed as weavers and tailors.
good luck
Steve
