OK, everyone (probably Wine included) will agree we are not performing as well as we should be, or hoped to at this point in the season. But we can't go blaming everything on the coach, nor start comparing Baseball w/ Basketball. Two completly differnt animals when it comes to recruiting. Basketball = everyone plays in similar enviroments (or at least major programs do, facility wise)
True, the Juco's have not performed to their billing....but they will, or at least should. Considering they were all top in their conferences and their teams, and they ALL came from TOP Tier teams(top 10 programs in country). I expect them to come around soon (or at least pray they do).
This is NOT Wine's 4th year, it is his 3rd. That means he only has two recruited classes. And yes, he tried to jump start it with "top notch" Jucos along with typical project freshman. Remember, his first year was with inherited recruits.
Now, how hard is it to recruit for Penn State (a team without storied history for Baseball, and until this year, the worst facilities in the B10.) Even this years recruits were recruited in October of 2005 w/out benifit of new facility. Were do the best players go, (the ones that can make an immediate impact on the success of this team? SOUTH.... look, the entire B-10 had their schedule canceled this week due to COLD weather and SNOW. This is not Basketball, it BASEBALL!
IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME TO MAKE THIS TEAM A PERENIAL POWER. That is always hard to swallow when we desperately want winners TODAY!
In the mean time, YES, WE CAN PROMOTE THE TEAM (AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT) AND OUR RECORD AT HOME IS NOT TERRIBLE.
LETS ALL SUPPORT THE TEAM, GET THE STUDENTS OUT TO WATCH AND HOPEFULLY, WIN A LOT MORE GAMES. GO PSU
