It happens with the neutral folks though. Xan has cast sleep once on somebody, Branwen has gone slappy happy and the defender of the forest most high queen nature nut has cut loose on me on a few occasions. Like I have said. I have a few screenies. All of them involve slaughtering low level monsters with a high level party. For Branwen, it starts with "our actions are not those of warrior form" and BAM! It's hammer time. For Jaheira, she mentions my leadership and then goes rogue.
