Multi-Class level ups.

Response to Resistance robes are vital

I dug out one of my old books, I should have remembered this.

Multi class level ups and hit point rolls are handled this way.

Say you have a 2 class character. Any roll is divided by two. Say you have a fighter thief. A D10 is rolled and cut in half, and, thief side, a D6 is rolled and cut in half. The fighters exceptional hit point bonus (Say he has 18 con) is only added for fighter level ups.

For a 3 class character, say, a fighter mage thief, any die roll is divided by 3, and, always rounded down. Three class characters always get screwed on hit points, but, their power lies in being a jack of all trades, not being a high hit point power house. In the hands of a skilled player, in both PnP and in Baldur's gate, the HP problem is not an issue, and, really, should not be to much to worry about.

My fighter mage cleric had about 25! hit points when he hit his exp cap. Less then a well rolled mage. Was it an issue? No. Summons, invisibility, sanctuary, lots of protective magics. He could wade in and melee with the best of them, if he had to. BTW, I don't save and reload preparing for bad hit point rolls, as that is not role playing.
