Yeah, I still look at this forum once in a while. I'm looking for something to do between now and when Master of Orion 3 gets released, so I thought I'd go back to my Baldur's Gate games.
Now, since the last time I've popped them in, I've had some drastic changes to my system, I jumped from an AMD K6-3 450 MHz to an AMD Athlon XP 2100 1.67 GHz and roughly doubled my memory capacity and tripled its speed (from 196 MB PC100 to 512 MB DDR 333). However, the original BG possibly runs worse than when I had the old hardware installed, stuttering every three or four seconds. I've tried this with what I believe to be the latest patch (1.3.something), with TotSC installed and possibly Baldurdashed on top of it (not sure, been a while) and none of the fancy switches turned on (though I imagine I could without any problems now) and no programs that aren't necessary in the background.
Has anybody else experienced similar problems? For the record, BG2 runs fine under the same conditions, and while I was hoping to try out a solo char for the first time all the way through (well, a duo once I get to SoA so it can just be the protagonist and Anomen, just to be different), I may just grab the pantaloons and export to skip past that horrible stuttering.
Hmm...is the R/C spell cheese still in the latest patch? I can't remember if entangle and shillelagh are druid spells or cleric spells. All I've done so far is grab the pantaloons, grab the ring of wizardry (and promptly sell it to the Friendly Arm Inn to buy some plate mail and that +1 large shield, down to -1 AC already!) and tell all those NPC hangers-on to cheese off.
