Several Nebraska wrestlers attended this event last year. We did not have good experience and vowed not to return. The event was over priced and under ran for a National advertised event. Elementary wrestlers competed on 1/4 size mats, Jr. High wreslers were on 1/2 mats. I have taken kids to several "national events"; those venues have all kids wrestling on full sized mats and their officiating is top notch. The only thing I can say about Liberty Nationals in a positive note is that the competition was excellent. The officiating was so bad, that the USA Rep from Nebraska brought several issues to the head referee and was basically told that their calls were beyond reproach and that when they're on the mat, their calls are final. It was absolutely one of the worst tournaments I have ever participated in. I would highly recommend the Tournament in Falls City that is the same weekend, before I would send anyone to Liberty Nationals. I know it's a USA sponsored event, but in good conscience, I can't recommend it. If you don't believe me, ask some other Nebraska wrestlers that attended!!!
