Mitchell is definately a Qualifier for Topeka

I am receiving phone calls from wrestlers & parents who want to wrestle in Topeka at the Kids/Cadet Folkstyle Nationals but don't want to go to Mitchell.
If you are a Nebraska wrestler and want to wrestle in Topeka........then you must attend the tournament in Mitchell. It is indeed a qualifier. The USA National Office at the request of the State Board has authorized the Board to utilize the Mitchell State Folkstyle tourney as a qualifier. Mark Scott of the National USA Wrestling Office indicated that Nebraska wrestlers can only attend Topeka under 1 of 2 criteria, either they attend the tournament or they petition in. I will not grant petitions until after the tournament and then only for emergencies or exigent circumstances. If I have to take a day off of work, and pull my son out of school to attend the event, I will not have sympathy for those wrestlers and parents that don't won't to undergo the inconvenience.
If geography and distance is a problem, then perhaps when the Board asks for bids from Clubs interested in putting on this event, you'll direct your club to step-up and submit a proposal. Otherwise, my thanks to the Mitchell club for they were the only club to step-up and accept this assignemnt.
