Below is a Letter to the Editor which was published in the 9/18/02 Mechanicsville Local by one Mrs. Arline F. Roberts of Mechanicsville, VA. I have sent a rebuttal and complaint to the Mechanicsville Local (one for printing and one not)and will post if my rebuttal appears. As you can see, Pebble Creek is still a "hot topic" in Hanover, especially with election time right around the corner.

Re-elect Seven

Why does pro-life letter writer in training Michael Thomas Reardon keep reminding local readers about his ancestors? Were they anti-government also? Did they try to tell women what to do like Mr. Reardon did in his past pro-life letters? Let’s hope Mr. Reardon doesn’t acquire any land in the future to sell in Hanover County. Put his name on the no sell program.

In the past year the Mechanicsville Local has been all but ruined because of a select group of letter writers that have abused their First Amendment Rights.

I was beginning to think that Sherri Millikin, Tom Chorinos and Ted Mentz owned the Local the way they hogged the opinion section on a daily basis, sometimes every week.

Tom Chorinos is not fit to serve Hanover County in any capacity because of the way he talks back to the people. Supervisors don’t talk back, and neither does someone that wants to be a Supervisor. Remember that. Ex-Navy men are supposed to support the government.

Sherri Millikin, you’ve written over 26 letters to the editor in the past year. Take a nice long break. When you come back, try digging up some facts to support our leaders for once. Let Pebble Creek rest in peace. The people that actually live in this community would appreciate this. They are tired of you, and I know that for a fact.

Ted Mentz, you changed your political position on a dime. At least now you support a winner, Elton Wade. Now throw your support behind the other six supervisors.

Emily Richardson, why do you think all letters to the editor are directed at you?

I support Mr. Faris’ suggestion to limit letters to the editor. Sometimes the editor has to step in and take charge when things get out of hand. This policy should have been in effect from day one. Let’s give the Local back to the people and give a 60 day vacation to the people that really need to think before they write.

I trust Hanover County’s officials to lead us through 2008. I do not trust this new breed of community activists as far as I can throw my car. What they stand for is wrong. They disgust me to no end with their badgering.

Re-elect Seven is the only sane choice.

Kudos to Mr. Faris for not being afraid to lean in that strike zone and take a hit for the team. That’s the sign of a good writer.

Fran Roberts
