I have seen a lot of bs on these sites, these are scams fellas. I was 5’3 and within the last month have gained 1 and ½ inches. My goal is to reach 5’11. I have begun taking glucosamine sulfate and I believe this is what is responsible. I am a 22 NYU med student and this is not for money or any other reason, I just want to spread the word to other short guys and let u know there is hope. Let me explain how. We have all been told that our growth plates close at around 17 or 18, this is not true. The epiphyseal plates, which is what they are called do not close until 25. Even this is not permanent, the plates weaken around the age of 50, this is called osteoporosis. These plates are what cause long bone growth in the bones of the leg. By taking glucosamine, the cartilage cells in these plates are stimulated causing additional growth after puberty. Trust me guys this is all verifiable, I am not a scammer, and do not represent any, I just know how it feels to be called shorty, shrimpy, midget, and all that other negative garbage. Trust me, you can grow as long as those plates are even slightly open. Don’t spend your money on the crap these scammers are selling, stretching devices and manuals, GH supplements or fucking shoes that are supposed to make u grow. These people are taking advantage of those of us who have to face the serious disadvantage of shortness everyday. Most of us don’t have GH deficiency, we are just the children of short parents, but through proper nutrition and supplementation we can grow beyond our genes.
Look at Asians, my girlfriend is Japanese and is 5’6, her parents who were born in the 50’s are about my height. The only difference is that she was raised here on an American diet. It is not a coincidence that most of us short guys come from areas where the mortality rates were high. (I’m of Italian ancestry myself) In those parts of the world, our ancestors did not get enough nutrition and those kids who were shorter and reached the end of their sexual development earlier since they did not need as much food were usually the ones that survived to reach adulthood and have kids. Now what makes us short, fellas? Sex hormones, (testosterone and estrogen). The earlier you produce sex hormones, means the earlier u can have kids, unfortunately this also means that your growth plates aren’t open very long either, since sex hormones cause the closure of the plates, but as I said they’re not completely closed till around 25, so there is hope. So guys, believe me or not, throw away your money on trash scams, or go with what I’m saying, verifiable medical advice on how to get taller. Be positive and stay healthy though, diabetics should consult their physician before taking glucosamine sulfate. See ya when I hit that 5’11 mark. Peace.

I havnt grown since I was 15, at which time I'd lifted weights for more than 2 years and I had a full beard and chest hair. The med student is definately right about sex hormones (the testosterone increase I got from simply lifting weights) responsible for closure of grow plates. I also second his information about glucosamine sulfate. Reading his post, I did some research on glucosamine sulfate and many studies show that it does increase cartilage growth.
Med Student, how many milligrams should I take? Im about 160-65 pounds and 5'10'' (hoping to achieve anthing above 6'0''). Im thinking 1500mg or 2000mg would be good. Also, I've heard chondroitin sulfate is present in cartilage. Are you taking that as well? Congratulations on your great, and speedy results results. I have a feeling your information may help a lot of people.
Thanks and good luck

Hi, thanks for your post.
Can you give some details as to what dosage/form (pill or liquid)/brand you used? I'm around 5'6 and about 150lbs if that makes any difference. I am willing to give this a try. You seem sincere and honest, and I hope your method works for me as well.
Thank you :")

Don't waste your time! PLEASE READ.
November 22 2004, 9:33 AM
You guys, don't waste your time. I've already tried this, and so have a lot of other people. I'm not sure if there is a specific thread on glucosamine on my forum, but it's been talked about in the other forums, I'm talking YEARS ago.
I'm beginning to think that MD student isn't really in medical school. He doesn't sound like one in this post, but I dunno, I haven't really read any of this posts. But glucosamine has been studied to death already, and MD student should know that if he is really in med school. There are a gazillion studies on it. People think that glucosmine combined with MSM or glucosamine combined with condroitin can rebuild damaged cartilege in your joints. Now back when we were experimenting with kicking and ankle weights, a lot of people thought that if you took glucosamine supplements while you stretch and kick w/ ankle weights, it would speed up the process of increasing height. It didn't work.
But more importantly, no one believes that taking glucosamine by itself will make you taller. NO ONE. And scientists and doctors have done a lot of clinical trials with glucosamine. No one has reported that it increases your height. In fact, many studies are inconclusive about whether it even rebuilds cartilege!!!
Plus, it is well documented that even IF it helps in rebuilding cartilege, you have to take really high doses of it for it to have any effect, more than what's typically recommended on the back of the bottles. And those pills are already HUGE.
This is a dead end. I don't know why MD student grew 1.5 inches, or even if he really did. But it wasn't because of glucosamine, I promise you.
"But more importantly, no one believes that taking glucosamine by itself will make you taller. NO ONE. And scientists and doctors have done a lot of clinical trials with glucosamine. No one has reported that it increases your height. In fact, many studies are inconclusive about whether it even rebuilds cartilege!!!"
I think you should do your own research when you say that lol.Try some googling and you will see in some studies it has shown it does help. Here's one;
"After 8-weeks on 500 mg of glucosamine sulphate, takers showed significant increases in spinal height."
Kaneka recently brought this up, and it seems that it only helps old people most of the time or if you have some kind of disease with damaged cartiledge.
MD student was a NOT an MD student; he doesn't know crap about HGH or medicine. Glucosamine has nothing to do with HGH.
But it hasn't worked for most people so I would waste my money on better things than this.

Also Glucosamine sulfate's bioavailability(absorption rate) is lower than other forms like glucosamine hcl which is only in liquid form and glucosamine hcl+sulphate. I asked the pharmacist at Shoppers Drug Mart months before Sky's ankleweight routine how long would it take glucosamine to heal back pain. He said around 1-2 month where as sky and the others pointed out liquid glucosamine only takes 1-2 weeks.

I never did overdose on glucosamine sulfate.
Back then my intentions were only backpain which it temporarily healed instantly. I don't know how you can die from a pain reliver medication which is what its sold for. If your glucosamine sulfate is in tablets then you've bought an even crappier form of glucosamine. Natural glucosamine sulfate is powder like which dissolves in solutions like water, soup no problem. Tablets are hardpressed version of that and possibly modified if your glucosamine sulfate does not take salty.

That is called a "capsule" LOL.
A tablet is a big piece that's squished together like a rock.

Hey Smalldude, that's interesting.
November 23 2004, 10:10 AM
I've never seen that before, but for our intents and purposes, I don't think it would work. I can see how for older people who have shrunk, glucosamine might help to get some of that height back by making your spine healthier. But I doubt that anyone in that study got taller in the sense that they are now taller than they've ever been in their lift. I'm sure those people shrunk, took high doses of whatever they gave them, and got some of that height back. Let me know if I'm wrong about that.

For pain. I'd say glucosamine sulfate or hcl would be great for pain relief than aspirin or stronger anti-inflammation drugs.
For height increase, no comment, no guarantees

November 28 2004, 1:11 PM
It helps older people regenerate cartilage.
People, stop bring these stupid posts to the top.
I can almost guarantee that you will not grow...glucosamine does not cause an increase in HGH.
So, Stop posting under this post. Honestly, it's an overly optimistic claim and it's Bullshit.
Let's keep the topics such as Medical Advice one from Dennis, and Alfalfa up.
AND PEOPLE, READ...The "how I grew 3 inches" (which I am 100% is not true from only the journal) POST has a WEBSITE POSTED IN THE MIDDLE OF IT, SO STOP POSTING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESSES.

Glucosamine Works !!!
December 1 2004, 6:49 PM
I'm now 22 year old. I've tried glucosamine and gained 2 inches height. Can't believe it really works ! So the report from the internet regarding the increment of height by consuming Glucosamine is true...
Will, how about you answer some questions for us;
1)how much did you take.
2)how long did you take it for.
3)how tall are you and your parents/brothers.
4)how did you get here? Are you a new member? Lots of scammers/dumasses stop by here a lot, just making sure.
Tons of people have tried glucosamine on this site and have failed, so I wouldn't want to say that it works for sure.

I bought some GS recently as it was dirt cheap - less than half price. Would be a total bargain if I got yet another 2 inches!
Will In UK?
Glucosamine - what type?
Glucosamine sulfate/sulphate
glucosamine hydrocloric acid(HCL)
glucosamine sulfate+ hcl

Hello, here are my updates after taking 7 weeks of Glucosamine Sulfate:
Height before: 5'4 1/2
Current Height: 5'5

I bought some joint powder today for $7.99 a total deal
but it tastes awful it includes
1.5 g potasium glucosamine sulfate
& 600 mg MSM
along with some calcium & other stuff
per 3/4 of a tsp with 116 serving per container
I got it at trader joes
although now i kind wish I had pills

Re: Glucosamine Sulfate

Hey does it work for 15 year olds who have not grown for awhile and so wut ur sayin is if u jackoff u won't grow cuz u are releasing testoserrones?
If people on this forum say Glucosamine sulfate works for them and they are not posting links to a site that sells the stuff, then I persoanlly have faith in there testimonials. Atleast there intentions are not in the wrong place. Unless there are insiders for a major Glucosamine sulfate manufacturer creeping around backlot forums, there is no incentive for these claims to fabricated. I know there could have been other factors at play but comon 19..22! thats pretty impressive.
According to my specialist glucosamine surely helped to maintain cartilage(building up new cartilage faster),also thanks to the chondroitinesulfaat,
also has a favourable effect on artritis, but if it makes the spinal column
really longer, well he had his doubts about that, but also said: you never can tell,in other words,I don't know.
I got the impression that in the medical world opinions differ about
the effects of glucosamine.Anyhow i take it,it will not harm me.

GS is not enough on its own to cause growth, it just regenerates the cartilages. Then, you must build on it new bones with calcium, release of HGH and IGF-1, proteins and other things, and those combined with proper exercise.
