Let's try this out; posting the age at which we had a growth spurt(s) throughout life. I think this might be helpful to the younger visitors here, and the males in the early-to-mid twenties. I'm hoping to grasp a basic understanding of the various times of growth, to see if whether or not people still experience growth during or past my age.
I'll go first:
currently-20 and slowly sprouted to the height of about 5'8 1/2

7th
Dad and mom both 6 ft
Spurts unknown. I was considered tall at 13. When I met a guy who was in grade 8 (age 13) my height, again at age 20, I was much taller than him. So I grew either gradually more in that 7 years or I had a spurt along the way. Currently 46, 6"4

Mom- 5,3
Dad- 5,9
Spurt- around 14-15 years old
Now 19 and 5,9 hoping to gain a couple of inches to be 5,11
I should be at least 5'10 considering my parents' heights. Think it's cos i grew so much in such a short space of time, then pretty much stopped growing altogether.
A height calculator said I'd be able to grow tp 6'1 1/2 by the time I am an adult.

Jay, 4 inches?
March 24 2005, 2:18 PM
Jay, did you really grow 4 inches at 17 years old?
That, I think, would be considered a late growth spurt. I'm 18 right now, but hopefully I can have a late one as well.
Better late than never...

it must be through early 17, because i out grew my dad that year and i explain in more detail i made a mistake by the way, it was 5'4 - 5'7 when i turned 18 i got my last inch and i doctor said at late 17 i woudnt grow anymore, i did weigth lifting, running, little bit of cycling, martial arts, other sports here and their and ate lots of japanese food like sushi, noodles, high protein foods, and i know of a person who i met by my friend, and he was about 5'6 at 19 he grew to 4 inches, so yeah dont give up you could still have natural growth left.
jay before your growth spurt did you have armpit hair etc? or was it hairless?
jay (no login) 210.49.213.137

Hey Jay, did you or your friend stop growin THEN grow 4 inches at 17/19? Or did you keep a constant slow growth and suddenly grew alot? Also, did you have a growth spurt before that? Thanks.
What if i told u all i never had a growth spurt, which i think i really did never have, i remember being 5ft in the 8th grade, 9th grade my voice starting changing which i remember cause i was teased for it by the girls..so basically that when puberty started for me, 11th grade had my physical at school and i definitely remember being only 5ft 1 and a half..that is not a big spurt at all
senior year, big whoops i grew half and inch..now at almost 24 im still only 5ft
3 inches...my moms 4,10 dads about 5'5..so im thinking the most i would get is to be 5'5..but i have a little brother at age 21 who is nearly six feet..what the hell, how he get so tall? SO im hoping i will still have a late growth spurt
which i read in other forums happen to other people when they were about 24-26 years of age..i hope, thats all i could do, cant wish cause wishes never come true, cant pray for it, cause if it dont happen..u cant blame it on the lord.
im trying everthing right now and hopefully there some growth left for me
dunno if I've ever heard of people having growth spurts after age 22 but I'd try to get an inch or so from the height book.

my friend stop growing for 3 years 16 - 19 then he just when to 5'10, I had a funny lifestyle when i was 17, he used be taller than me when i was 16 then when he turned 19 he became taller than me again, as far as i go i always grew until 18 then i stopped altogether. i seriously recken growth change happens when your lifestyle changes, i know of more ppl a guy from my primaly and high school is very sick and spends alot of time in bed these days and he just had a growth spurt not longer ago and hes 20 he was about my height when i saw him a couple years ago now hes over 6foot like 6'1-2, a person at my college is 6'7 and 20 and still growing.
dude i stopped growing at 13. had facial and armpit hair at around 14 1/2, now 18. do you think my growth plates fused at 13 or will i grow again?

There' no definite way to tell, other than having your plates x-rayed. No one can tell you off-hand.
I've not grown since the same age; since 13 I've been 5'4 -- and now at 18 I still am. I have no idea why either of us should be hopeful in our situation, and assuming you hate your height just as much as I hate mine, then we might be screwed for life...
Simply put; there has been as absence of growth for 5 years, for me at least. Knowing that, I can't look on the light side of things.
when i was 14 i started martial arts and when i was 16 i started weight lifting, so it unlikely by the way i did swimming when i was 5 - 15 years old made it to the swimmign squad and i use had to drink 2 lires of milk a day so i dont believe kev grew from swimming i recken he just got a second growth spurt and was a lucky bastard i know of fat teenagers who have stocky leg who are at tall so i dont recken legs shape has much to do with height and having skinny bone isnt good because it hard to change when you get older, take my sister bf who 28 years old he 6'2 1/2 dutch he isnt goning be able to change is skinny bones much at all because of his age.

TALL, DUTCH. HAHA

Yeah dat's funny. I had this dutch guy at my school; he was 6'4, had very light white hair (shaved/bowl cut), glasses, and skinniner then a matchstick. I really think it is quite pathetic being that tall if you have pretty anorexic bones lol. I mean, he was literally just a big, tall joke. And besides, He didn't get no respect at all for his height; he was treated like a much shorter guy. Yeah so you wouldn't want to be over 6'2/3 in my oppinion; your just getting to an OVERGROWN MOFO at over that height. I'd rather take 6 foot then 6 foot 2, and be well built. And also women prefer a guy who's 6 foot 94% then a 6'1 guy which is preferred like 74%. BIG DIFFERENCE.
I also heard that when you finish growing, your body start to grow some width. Don't know if that's true or not though.

of course it is true! The boys stop increasing their height normally at the age of 15 or 16, but their chest continues developing for 2-3 or sometimes even 5-6 years

I think I had two growth spurts. Is that possible? I remember being one of the shortest kids in prep school, then during grammar school about 14ish I grew quite a bit and I was about average height for the kids. Then I stopped growing but grew again when I was about 16... Thing is between the ages of 14 and 16 I was fat, then I lost all the fat and grew. I'm now 19 years old, coming 20 in the summer, 5'7 and 140lbs. I hope to do some stretching exercises and use the cycling method to grow. Maybe even swim.
Problem is does anyone know if the effects of stretching are permanent or do you have to do the exercises for the rest of your life?! It would be a bit crap if you grew a few inches and everyone would be like, 'Woah, how did that happen?' and then when you stopped exercising and shrunk again everyone would be like, 'Woah, how did THAT happen?!?!??' haha. Get what I mean?
I will post on this board again after summer, as I plan to have completed my work out scheme by then. wish me luck!!!
