Lose weight to increase height

If you have excess fat around your waist, it could make you shorter. I lost weight by doing rigorous cardio and I;ve not only lost the gut but I am taller by almost an inch. The weight aorund your waist compresses your spine, making you shorter even if you're actually a tall person. You will be losing at least an inch in case your waist is larger than usual.

Weight & height

August 5 2005, 11:38 AM

There was a doctor named Dr. Rajesh Mital that emphasized loosing fat to increase height. He had a forum and he regularly mentioned this & I wondered the importance of it. But your point of extra weight pulling down on your body makes sense. In addition, being thinner makes you "look" taller as the eye focuses vertically rather than horizontally. The same reason why wearing vertical strips makes you look taller than when wearing horizontal stripes.

A related question--Do you think being thinner with less fat also makes it easier to stretch your body as it is less dense?

Yes, stretching is easy for a thin person or at least a person who doesnt have excess fat around the waist, since the spine is the main focus of stretching exercises. I was by no means fat, people used to say I was perfect but I did have extra fat around my waist, which i lost through HIIT. On doing so, I also noticed HI by half inch.

Great

Wow, that's great! Yeah, it seems logical that being thinner would make it easier to stretch the body. Thanks for sharing your success.

Another post about weight & height

August 8 2005, 3:34 PM

One more thing. Here is an exerpt from Dr. Mital (the doctor who had a height increase forum). He always stressed loosing fat & weight - especially around the mid-section. The URL to his old forum is http://www.network54.com/Forum/268809?it=0.

Below is a relevant post he made.

Hi,
I am a bone specialist from Pune, India. I am 49, and 5' 10". I have a lot of patients who come to me for height increase. I came to this forum by chance.
I find that most of you are very depressed about your current height. Here, I have tried to put forward my opinion on various common questions of yours.

I have read many articles claiming that yoga can increase your height. This is absolute crap. Yoga will never make you taller, it will only correct your posture and when this is done, you feel like being taller about 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches. So, yoga is fine but not very effective in terms of height gain.

There are a lot of products online which claim to increase your height. I suggest you don’t buy any of them, this is because these products help only 1 out of 5 people who buy it. These products are based on general needs not specific needs for different people.
There are some who claim that their success rate is more than 90 %. This is the biggest joke. The success rate of such products CANNOT be more than 40 % (even that’s huge).

The best way of increasing your height is to reduce your body fat and most important, stretch. Stretching is the best way to increase your height. By stretching 30 min a day, you can gain about 2-3 inches in 3 months, generally.

Your height is in your hands, don’t delay in working out.
I can very well predict the height you will gain by 30 min stretching daily for 3 months.

-Dr. Rajesh Mittal

Is it necessary to stretch 30 min at once, or can one divide it into 15min in the morning and 15min later in the evening?
