To be honest it didn't even dawn on me to build JT's for defense until you mentioned it here, but why keep them at home in static defense when I can build a few cheap spearmen to do all the armor poliching, parades, and other 'fun' things that go along with garrison duty? =D
The Dutch were still trying to settle all over the place when I launched my attack. I was glad to lose a few troops actually since when I started the war I was 3-4 units above the allowance and paying for it..
Yes, top city was 150 shields per turn, second best was 129 or so and the third best was 125. They dropped down to around a 100 and less after that but these cities helped a lot with the research. I'll probably load the game just to take the stat's screen to give a good idea of how things fared, but the high shields, etc were because of Democracy, a factory, Hoover, and manufacturing plant in my top towns.
Thanks on the launch, I was really, really
slow, but the game was fun and I wanted to see just how far ahead I could get with Science, thus I took my time when I should have rushed. Rome being a bully and trying to wipe out everyone also slowed down the tech pace a lot.
