Alright I am home finally. Exhausted, happy, worn out and just plain fried but so glad I went. I had some issues but overall it was a good gig.
I do have to say I do not like the venue. I don't like the way it's set up and I wasn't crazy about the one guy telling us not to talk and yelling at us for it. I know when I was talking to people it was in their ear. So I went outside for most of the opening sets and chilled with Mike and some great CR fans and we talked and laughed and sang and had a great time
Gary Jules was cool but I stayed outside during the set for the no talking rule. Like I said I was happier staying out there. When I was talking during CR it was too my friends right in their ears. I swear I thought I was gonna go deaf I had so much stuff told to me in my ear. Most of it was about the songs though.
Other than that I was just having a good time singing, dancing, and cheering. I stayed in the back and screamed quite a lot when the songs ended or when they played "Don't Let's Start." I jumped up and down and yelled Yippie cuz I just love hearing that version. *g* Might have gotten a little carried away. I also requested Burgandy which they didn't play *pout* even though Adam told me later they rehearsed it. Oh well. When they fell during Sit Down I shouted out "how very brave of you" cuz damn that stage was tiny! I thought they were gonna get hurt. Oy.
So the set went something like this, let's see if memory serves... and it's not in order, ask Stef for that she was given the set list...
Dancer
Indie Rockin
More Complex Than It Sounds
Lena (the crowd really needed to get into this more. It's a crowd interaction song all the way guys!)
Offstage Lines (I was told Adam wrote this and I was thrilled. I love it )
Don't Let's Start
Savior with Gary Jules' "Stay in the Bar (I probably have that title wrong)" thrown in
Sit Down
Hey DJ (I had never heard this one. I was very impressed)
The First Time
Union Dues (again I had never heard this one. Very impressed again)
Fortunate (with lyrics about Adam's mike and Eric's broken guitar string)
Oklahoma (acoustic, acapella, and harmonica. My friend was beyond impressed. Loved the crowd sing along)
A Tom Waits Cover that I didn't get the name of but it had something with a "Goodbye California" feel to it
Eric did a solo but I have no idea what it was called. But it was fabulous. I cried during it, it was so moving.
My friend who met us there was beyond impressed. He told me that they put on an amazing show. I beamed. He said he'd bring more friends next time. I beamed again. Wish he coulda stuck around to meet the guys though. Oh well.
So I had lots to rock out too with lots of friends there to rock out with During Oklahoma I moved to the front to stand in front of Jeff and took some pics. Had to make sure I wasn't getting in Jamie's way. The lighting was terrible so I didn't take many from the back. But up front was much better so of course when am I gonna get photo ops of Adam and his harmonica? I hope the mag likes that one. And this version was correct. Verses all in order I just love Adam's harmonica playing. It vibes so well with Eric's guitar. And Mike on the Bass and Ken on the Bongo, yeah they rocked, hardcore.
Sound was a little off, Adam kept commenting on his mike being too low and my other friend said that they could hear the background sound but I don't know that much about sound so it seemed ok to me. Energy was there cept the crowd really needed to get more into Lena. The guys even get us to try and repeat "Hey Hey Lena" back to them and it took a few tries before the room got going.
Meet n greet after was fun. Got a pic with Adam again cuz I just gotta have pics with my boy *g* and I got to see that pic Jamie took of me and Adam where I "flashed myself". He had it labeled as "Adam and Big Fan Club Mama". I almost died laughing. Everyone seemed to want to play with my Tigger (Amy was molesting the darn thing!) and I was getting weird advice all night.
I'm glad I went though. I made some great new friends, found a kindred spirit in Lael and was able to wish them luck on their journey to NY and Europe. Got lots of Adam hugs which are always good and am hoping what I heard after the show is true. Very excited about a possibility of another gig. Yay
I'm sure I pissed some people off with my Tigger backpack, Normal People Worry Me shirt and digicam flashes (I had to use the flash, the lighting was horrible) but I really didn't care. I had a good time and everyone I was with had a good one too. I stayed in the back most of the time so I could dance and sing my little heart out (very few people back there) and probably lost my voice cheering. Hehe but I'm proud to lose it cheering for them. I was very happy at some of the songs they performed cuz I didn't get to see them Sat. nite. So tonite was just very very groovy
I smell like smoke and was yawning on the way home so that means sleep. Hope this review makes some sense. And to everyone I met, it was lovely meeting you. Hope you enjoyed the show and the band. They really are lovely, all of them. Hope they have a good time in NY and get that album recorded and then fun in Europe So jealous, wish I could go. *pout* Oh well.
Bed now. Sleep needed.*wuvs*
