I'm not greedy, really, and I'm not expecting lyrics for all the new songs on the site since the new album isn't out yet, but I'm wondering if anybody knows who wrote which songs. I know Eric does the bulk of the writing, but Adam throws in occasionally and I wouldn't be surprised if Ken and Mike started expressing their hidden poetic depths.

Particularly wanted to know who wrote my new favorite song, "Offstage Lines"... I could swear Adam said he wrote it once, but I don't remember the context so I can't say whether he was serious.

Oh I know whatcha mean...

I'd love lyrics to the new songs...

Offstage Lines, More Complex Than It Sounds, Indie Rockin, All My Time, Pretty Lights (I think that is the name of one), and Fortunate (even if the words to Fortunate change all the time *g*)

Lyrics are very helpful when doing wallpapers, icons or just trying to sing along and not sound like a complete dork. LOL.

There's lyrics for "Fortunate" on the site already, as well. But I can fill at least one of the requests (just because it's far more interesting than working)... of course I can't make some stuff out and these are probably wrong, but oh well.

Indie rockin', there's no stoppin'
Once you get me on a roll
Name-droppin', mop-toppin'
Can't help this feeling
It's a feeling that I stole

Kick it in now with the backbeat
Put the four on the floor (?)
And innocent now, they try to compete (?)
With a tune I heard before

Your momma don't know
And your daddy don't get it
I'm up on the stage singing
Don't you forget it
Don't touch me, I'm a live wire
And I'll be singing this song
'Til these lines grow tired

(Woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooooooh)
(Woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooooooh)

Turn it up loud so I can't hear
The future rapping at my door
I'll make the past proud
With the big fear (?)
Maybe I've gotten too hard-core

Your momma don't know
And your daddy don't get it
I'm up on the stage singing
Don't you forget it
Don't touch me, I'm a live wire
And I'll be singing this song
'Til these lines grow tired

I'm playing with both hands on the [...]
I'm holding on to [...]
I'll bring all my cards to your table
Just don't stick me with a label

(Woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooooooh)
(Woo ooh, woo ooh, woo ooooooh)

Indie rockin', there's no stoppin'
Can't help this feelin'
It's a feeling that I stole

(Next phase, new wave, dance craze anyways it's still rock and roll to me).

Yeesh, with three responses I thought somebody was actually answering my question.

On the CD, all are written by Eric except What We Have Now (by adam) and rockstar (by eric and adam). As for new songs, I remember Adam commenting on a song he wrote that I was surprised about. It could have been Offstage Lines (or for some strange reason I'm thinking Unknown Soldier too, but it sounds so Eric-like that I have to be wrong).

Those lyrics sound pretty likely, ronia, thanks.

"On the CD, all are written by Eric except What We Have Now (by adam) and rockstar (by eric and adam). As for new songs, I remember Adam commenting on a song he wrote that I was surprised about. I know about the CD, I'm more curious about the newer songs. The comment you remember was for "Offstage Lines"... I remember because Adam was saying something, then said, "And here's a little song I wrote about it," but I wasn't sure if he actually wrote the song because when he said it it was a joke (like the song's totally unrelated to what he was saying). So I wasn't sure if the "I wrote" part was just part of the joke, too.

Otter: sorry, I didn't think you were asking about the cd songs but I figured I'd say it anyways for anyone else, since those are the only ones i knew for sure. Yah, i don't know if that was a joke or not either. Guess we'll have to ask him at the next show.
