The first one was at the Hard Rock Cafe show the night after the PBP, February 17th. It was my first time really seeing the guys since I barely remember them from the PBP. The show was great but the memorable moment was when Little Willow and her friend got on stage and sang. That had never happened at a show I'd been to before and I thought it was so cool. LOL It seemed like it had to have been planned or something but nope. So spontaneous.
The second one was at the Genghis Cohen show on July 6th, a.k.a. Adam's Birthday. I thought it was so awesome how Eric got us all to sing Adam Happy Birthday. I love it when we all get to sing together and it was such a great feeling to be singing for someone who was used to doing the singing for us if you know what I mean. It was a great experience for me, I wonder how it was for Adam?
And the third one was the very next night, July 7th. It was cool going to The Viper Room and all that but it sucked at the same time because the guys only go to play like 5 or so songs. What made it memorable though was that after playing inside, we all got to hear 3 more songs played in the Viper Room Parking Lot. I mean no other band that I know of would do that and it really blew us away. Amazing!
So those are a few of my most memorable CR moments. There are more, most definately more, but I think those are the ones that come to mind most. What about everyone else? Share, share, that's fair right?
Was gonna say my most memorable moment was getting pulled up on stage with LW at HRC the night after PBP.
I still feel like such a tool. I have terrible stage fright when it comes to singing, and would have been ok singing along with her, but we never quite got there.
Gee, I probably shouldn't have jumped on the identifying myself bandwagon, huh?
But I swear to all of you, if that chance ever comes again, I will not chicken out. All of you have my permission to throw my sorry ass on stage if I'm ever invited up again.
I'm a classically-trained soprano, no less. But we'll get into my neuroses another time, k?

Well, since I've only seen them twice it kind of narrows my choices for a favorite moment...The group picture the guys took with about 20 of us after the Chicago show was cute. Also, at City Walk, my friend Magz was in a wheelchair. During the meet & greet after the show, Adam left the crowd and went to the other side of the stage to sit and talk with her for a while. He didn't have to that and I know she appreciated it. Even though that "moment" didn't involve me, I thought it was very sweet and I will always remember that he did that for her.

Great stories guys!
September 21 2002, 1:18 PM
I've got so many, but I'll try to narrow it down some:
1. The Arizona Show. The view from the balcony was great, they didn't even know I was there until the end. They were playing all new stuff during the show, which just made more songs get stuck in my head. Then after the show Eric came out and saw me and he was like, "Oh my god." (Was he more worried or surprised.. I'll never know) And Adam came out later and his eyes bugged out when he saw me. (Again, was he more worried or surprised...?) Then we all hung out upstairs for a while. They gave me a signed poster that is now hanging on my bulletin board at home and always makes me smile and remember that night. That show totally made going to Arizona (2500 miles away from home) worth it.. even though the rest of my vacation was sorta bad... I apparently wandered into a ghetto while I was there and didn't know it.. yes, Arizona is scary. And hot!
2. It didn't happen at a show, but one of my memorable moments was when my friend Lauren and I went on our mission to their high school to retrieve their yearbook pics. The school must have thought we were nuts! We were... really hyper. And Eric's sophmore photo was missing from the book so we made up all these stories about where he was and why he was missing (Abducted by aliens? Visiting Oklahoma? Smoking behind the school gym? Hmm... Okay, okay, so he was probably just absent that day.)
3. When they asked for requests at the BackStreet Blues show in January. I'm not sure if it was planned or not, but I shouted out, "BURGUNDY!!" And my boyfriend was like, "You just had to say something didn't you." Then they played all requests for the rest of the night, it was great.
But I think the most memorable is something that happened at the They Might Be Giants show on Long Island, something that my friends tease me about till this day, but its self-incriminating so I won't go there
You sooo can not bring something up and that not give us details...spill it Vixen. Don't make me get those sticks out! g

September 21 2002, 4:18 PM
Keep in mind that this was nearly a year ago, when I was just a fledgling groupie just starting out in the world of Common Rotation.
Anyhoo.. after the show me and my friend Lauren decided to hang out by the backstage door (well, it was just a curtain but that's besides the point). We must have waited there for a half an hour, all the while getting hit on by this drunk guy who claimed he was the lead singer of the band Fastball (Hence forth known at Fastball Guy). Maybe it was because I wanted to get away from him, maybe it was the energy of the night, maybe it was just because I'm totally insane (my friends seem to like this theory), but when Adam came out from backstage I screamed at the top of my lungs, "WARREN!!!!!!" Half the club turned to look at me, and Adam looked like he was going to have a heart attack. I ducked behind the corner for a second to calm myself, but when I went back to apologize I bumped right into a security guard who said and I quote, "Stop screaming, you're scaring people."
Then I ran away, out the club, and sat on the sidewalk. My friend tried to tell me that it wasn't that big of a deal, but I was sure that he hated me and and would never talk to me again. I spent most of the night outside moping, and crying, and having each of my friends come outside to try to get me to go back in.
Somewhere near the end of the night I came back because it was getting cold outside. I started talking to my friends, but then they saw Adam go by and went to follow him. I told them I didn't want to go over there, because he probably hated me now. But I followed my friends anyway, because Fastball guy came over near me and wanted to know if I wanted to go make out. So I went over by Adam. I was hiding behind my friends, but he saw me and said hi and that he remembered me from the last show at the Backstreet Blues (Okay, I met him for just a brief minute at that show, so it was strange that he remembered me).
He was very nice and took me and my friend's cd's backstage to get signed by the rest of the band. When he came back I apologized for scaring him and he was totally cool about it, it was then that I realized what a sweetie he is.
And that is the most memorable thing that has ever happened to me at a CR show, and the thing that people tease me about mercilessly. So, yay, now you can tease me about it too. Are you happy? :P

That is actually a pretty good CR moment. When I meet Adam I am probably going to start crying. I'll totally make a fool of my self. I hope I don't cry, I don't want my eye liner to be leaking down my face, I'd probably scare Adam by looking like the blair witch or something lol.

b-b-b-but why?
September 21 2002, 5:33 PM
Rachel, why would you be crying? Don't get me wrong, I'm as big an Adam fan as everyone else, but he's not Elvis. He doesn't bite, he's happy to hug and take pictures with you and sign whatever ya got.
In the event that you were kidding about crying, then ignore all the above.
Oh my lord, can you imagine if the way we were about CR was like teenage girls for Beatles in the 60s? Fainting, screaming, crying...That'd be a really frightening sight. Ack, ack, get the image out of my head!
Vixen (no login)
Exactly!
September 21 2002, 6:37 PM
Listen to Sara, she knows.
As for the Beatles thing... LOL. It's probably a good thing for all involved that I never went that far with my groupie-ness.
As for the Elvis thing... how can we really be sure? I think it's entirely possible that Elvis could have mutated himself into Adam. Then again maybe I've been watching too many SciFi movies lately.

Re: Favorite or Most Memorable CR Moment
September 21 2002, 7:22 PM
I have seen CR 6 times now and each one has been memorable. But I'll try to pick my faves...
2002 PBP - when Tom and Danny joined them on stage and the trio did this cute little choreographed dance sequence.
14 below (April) - when my friend and I got to interview Adam before the show in a little office (and video it) and then got special permission to videotape the show afterwards. Got to videotape CR on stage with James for "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and Adam sang into my camcorder during "Savior". And of course hanging outside with the guys later. bdbdb and I sharing our scary psycho Adam pictures :P That was a big CR day for me.
Hard Rock (April) - The 1 and a half hor set and the unplugged sing-along at the end. And who can forget the Jesus/Satan thing during "Oklahoma". I don't know what posessed Adam to start that, but it was funny as hell! To bad my camcorder crapped out half way through that song. It's bad for crapping out when I need it the most. But talking to Adam after the show and Tom and Danny before was great! They were all so sweet.
City Walk - Getting there and going to the stage and having Adam say "hi Stef" from the stage (during soundcheck) right off the bat. Got to meet the lovely Shelly and Dana. Two very nice gals! The gig was awsome! My video turned out absolutely stellar. The quality of the tape is amazing. As was the show. Once again Adam ran over and sang into my camcorder during "Savior", which makes for a nice little touch. The guys hanging out to sign afterwards was great too. Adam remembered me right away and gave me a hug. He was nice enough to fill out some info for my site as well. I finally got to get Ken's autograph. He's such a great guy, Ken! The buys signed Melissa's arm after Mike accidentally got her with his sharpie. :P Got some nice pictures with the guys... although Eric's was a bit odd as some of you may have seen... but cute nonetheless. That was one of the best times I've ever had!
And last but not least...
Hotel Cafe - At first I wasn't all that sure I liked the venue. It was so small and dark! But it turned out to be pretty good. I hung outside before the show with TB and her friend (or "twin") I met and Hacker Groupie, whether she remembers or not. :P Went into the back and gave Adam a copy of the City Walk video for him and the guys. I hope they enjoyed it and that the annoying power hum didn't come out on the tape. Adam then gave me the info he filled out for me. He remembered! :D We got a nice spot up front and center. The nice merch girls from the last band were nice enough to let us have the front to videotape. The set was awsome! I loved Eric's new solo song and they played "Offstage Lines" again, which was great! The unplugged "Oklahoma" was so much fun! Unfortunately, yet again, my camcorder crapped out at the end of "Fortunate", so I missed videoing "Oklahoma". UGH. After the show Adam let me have their one and only set list (I feel OH so special lol) and I got the guys to sign it. I picked up a CD for my friend and got that signed as well. Got a few pictures and lots of hugs from Adam. He's a hugger, that one! As I'm sure many of you gals know. Oh, I got one from Ken too. I had to, Ken's awsome! We talked to the guys... Mike (before the show) and Ken, Eric (even though he was a bit intoxicated :P) and Adam after. Adam told us how much he loves Adam-Busch.net and that he appreciated all the work we put into it and the support. That was sweet and meant a lot to both of us. I'm sure I am forgetting things, but that what started out as what I thought would be a less exciting sitting down gig in a small cramped room with no lighting... turned out to be, I think, my best and most memorable CR gig yet!
So there ya go.

Tamz - Ya that was pretty cool when they did that. I was over getting an autograph from Alexis when they got on stage so I had just enough time to sprint over and watch them and get a couple pix. Glad I didn't miss it.
Ok well as it said in a previous entry, I have seen CR 11 times, so picking memorable moments is gonna be tough... lessee...
1) PBP, Feb. 16th-running into Adam a million times that nite and telling him once, "hey you rock" and having him go back to me "no you rock" and also the Troika singalong at the end. Cept I was waiting to meet Andy Hallet and Phred had my camera and doesn't know how to use a zoom so the two pics I have are really crappy. But the performance itself was hilarious!
2) HRC, Feb. 17th-This was where the idea for ABC formed, first moment was when I went to give Adam a small gift I had gotten for him (a rockstar Tigger, speaking of Beatles, it looked just like Paul McCartney with the guitar and mop top hair) and I went up to him and said "hey it's me, your unofficial stalker again" and he said not to call myself that. Later that nite as we're leaving I see NumfarGal (Rebecca) having Adam sign this adorable Warren bear she had made at Build A Bear. So of course I thought it was so cute and asked both Adam and Rebecca if I could borrow said bear and get a pic with it and Adam and both were gracious enuf to oblige. While taking said pic, I'm talking to Adam and saying "ok so you won't let me call myself that (unofficial stalker) what do you want me to call myself?" He leans over and says "my friend" before giving me this massive hug. Yeah I was sold, he's a keeper Hehe and then I went home and came up with the idea for an Adam fan club, and ABC was born Also I loved seeing Cricket and LW on stage that nite. What was funniest was when Adam wanted his mic back and LW wouldn't give it back and he got down on his hands and knees and begged for it and I snapped it on film. And considering the crap I had been thru that day, that nite made up for everything.
3) Both Molly Malones gigs in March-First, March 2nd, one was where I asked Adam to be a member of ABC and he happily obliged while laughing g And the second, March 30th, one was when I had had my wisdom tooth out and got a lovely "pity smooch" from Adam for making it out to the show Also brought my Mom to the gig and she was able to meet Adam, the boys, and the rest of the Troika
4) CR/FSM/GOtR Blowout weekend, April 20th and 21st-this weekend had so many memorable moments from James getting on stage to sing Sunday, Bloody, Sunday with CR, seeing my norcal Bronzer buds, hanging out with Danny, Tom, and everyone after the show laughing about the magazine article and CM asking me to sign my pic of FSM (it was my first time being published and I ran around showing it to everyone!) on the Saturday nite to the Sunday nite getting lost going from 14B to HRC and then at HRC having Tamz's sign and going crazy being ballsy and asking everyone in their mother's uncle to sign it INCLUDING the CR boys and Danny and Tom and getting permission to put it on the stage. Also of course the end of the nite campfire singalong and Adam staying on the floor during Fortunate and then getting up and singing about "being fortunate to no longer be on the floor". That was one crazy gig. I love it when they play HRC
5) 14 Below show with Ghost again, May 18th- best part of the nite was when Adam is leaving and I walk up to his car and get a hug and he goes to me "babe you look beautiful tonite." This was a huge deal for me cuz I have a super low self esteem and never believe people when they think I'm pretty or whatnot so having the object of my affection say it, well I was floored That and of course hanging out with the lovely Aimercat and doing the "up, up and away web" hand gestures since she couldn't talk
6) Highland Grounds, June 1st (not 2nd like I originally thought)-nice acoustic setting, the boys did the acoustic/acapella version of Oklahoma again and Adam ended up standing right behind me. Also I showed Adam my tear sheet of the three shots from Mollys (the nite of my smooch) and he signed my sheet, "Gwen and CR, working together, Adam Busch." Most he has ever written on a siggie. I was very floored That and I was dubbed my title, "Adam's Biggest Fan" that nite It was a good nite g
7) 14B, July 13th-Since I missed Adam's bday shows (stupid work!) I was very excited to go to this show and I had brought the mouse ears I wrote him and was showing them around. Later at the end of the gig he put them on and posed for a pic. Looked so adorable! I was just glad he liked them. I mean it is a goofy gift after all... g
8) Citiwalk, Aug. 24th and Hotel Cafe, Aug. 26th-Citiwalk was awesome cuz it was Aimer's annual 21st bday party And of course they played What We Have Now, which I was so especially jazzed for cuz I never get to hear that song. g Also Cece got to meet Danny that nite so I was happy I could make that happen for her Plus I got to hang with Cece and TBF and it was one helluva weekend! Hotel was awesome cuz I got to meet Hacker Groupie and my friend Harold came to the show (finally!) and they performed the acoustic/acapella/harmonica version of Oklahoma and the "Don't Let's Start" cover (which I have heard is the first single off the CD, YAY!). Both were fun nites
Ok so I am officially going to the Sat. Oct. 26th show, and yes I will be Daphne and HG will be Velma. Oh but I am gonna be so hot in 14Below with a purple turtleneck and purple and black knee high socks. I was dying when I wore my pleather pants, this could be worse. LOL.
Briel-you always choose the hard questions! Making me think, eh?
Vixen-what a story. Hehe but he remembered you, that's a good!
Stef-I am still so in awe of you getting that interview! Lucky bitca
Tamz-hehe remember the party on the bed? That was fun
Cricket-girl you rocked out that nite, and you better do it again, I wanna hear those pipes! g
Long enuf response for you guys? Hehe

Tamz,
It's to be expected that you partied a little too hearty (or is it hardy?)- there was a party in my room! I mean, come on, I may have my shortcomings, but I know how to party!
TB, hon, still soooo sorry for some of that there crap- I know I can't be responsible for certain people, but, well, at least I got bleeped over worse- still had to put up with more crap that weekend than you did.
But, I also discovered CR, and met you, and Tamz, and spent time with people who love me. So there's a bright side to everything!
OK, it's late here, and all the hours of reading cultural theory have apparently turned my mind to schmaltzy mush Gonna shut up now before I start singing Cumbaya or somesuch...
Did I mention me taking the elevator half asleep after I left the party? What I was wearing? (My rubber ducky PJ bottoms and a NYC skyline tee) And who I shared the elevator with?
I didn't?
Oh well...
I was so dead tired and still buzzing, Im shocked I still remember. Heehee

Memorable moments?
September 23 2002, 12:58 PM
There are so many it's hard to choose which I would consider favorite CR moments, but that's why I'm here right?
Ok
1) The parking spot I got before the Lion's Den show in June. It was so close (one block over), a parallel on the left side, between a car and a motorcycle, on a corner, in front of the resturant where all the patrons were eyeing me over duck empanadas and cosmos.
2) $2 beers, the good stuff (Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, Old Speckled Hen, Brooklyn Brown), not the watered down shit where it tastes like they drained all the overflow into one keg and added water
3) Gray's Papaya Dog!
4) Bathroom Nazi at the Bitter End (who was surprisingly calmer and not so pric-ish)
5) Talking to foreigners and then grabbing their manhood, just my way of showing that NYers are not mean and cold hearted
6) Talking to that guy that I always used to see around, but not so much anymore, and why don't I see him, I always thought he was really cool, but then again his friend was alot cuter. . .
A favourite moment? Hmm... don't think I've got a favourite Common Ro moment, they are all so great.
I can name some memorable moments:
~At the CityWalk show when the guys 'noticed' the huge screen they were being broadcasted on. And how they commented on it repeatedly through out the night.
~Also at CityWalk, when a certain band member went missing and was paged overhead. Whether this was done purposefully as part of the act or in actuality - it cracked me up.
~At Hotel Cafe it was fantastic to meet TB and several other Common Ro fans. Singing with TB into someone's cell phone is always good for a few laughs.
~At Hotel Cafe ~ Learning that the song "Mad World" (first heard by me on the Donnie Darko sndtrx) was written and performed by Gary Jules. Blew my mind. I love that song. I was forced to give bonus points to Gary Jules. And will be forced to go see him perform again JUST so that I can ask him what exactly he is saying at the end of the song. It's like "..mad world.. mad world..mad world.. mad world.. mad world.. somethinggibberish.. mad world." It is driving me insane. (Okay, so this isn't exactly a Common Ro thing..)
~Finding this board so that I could chat with other Common Ro fans and learning that most of them are more wacky than I am.
~The Groupie should be doing work while at work.

Gary Jules is going to be in Sacramento on October 23 and me and my mom are going to go. I can't wait. I love his cd's. :D
Briel - See, I hadn't known of Gary Jules before Hotel... even though I love the song Mad World. At Hotel I was outside for most of his show.. in fact, all but the first song. AJ told me that they played Mad World and I was like "DAMN!" So now I have to see him perform again. If you see them before me - you need to ask him what he says at the end of that song! I mean it. It's one of those things that just picks at your mind until you're ready to scream.
~Groupie believes that it IS a Mad World.

Mad World
September 24 2002, 12:52 AM
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places – worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere – going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression – no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow – no tomorrow
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very very
mad world mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday – happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen – sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me – no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me – look right through me
And I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles it’s a very very
Mad world . . . world Enlarge your world
Mad world
Is the underlined sentance the one you wanted to know?
Cricket-It's really ok. I got to meet you and that was all worth it. I had fun
