Thanks Matt! I might not have noticed the time change any time in the near future if you hadn't posted it in here.

But why does your post make me want to watch Batman?

Yes, we know it's from the movie. AND we think that line totally rocks!

I recognised it - but don't know any quotes off the top of my head for that. Mmm.. Chris O- err..

I like Galaxy Quest quotes better. Maybe cause some of them are so random. And not funny at all taken out of context.

Lines such as "Wow, these floors are so clean.."

I mean, geez, you go aboard a starship for the first time and THAT's what you say?

*pokes back - harder* And no poking me. I have a paperclip and I'm not afraid to use it!

hehe, ok 1. you said "cha right!" *falls on the flooring laughing* ah goodness, let me wipe the tears from my eyes before i move on to ...

2. "handy dandy paintball gun" ?? um, ok, well ... you can so tell you are a mom right now, but since when did Joe get into combat games with pail and shovel? *giggle*

now look what you made me do! i giggled. for shame. i deny any semblance of me to a girly girl. it just isn't true! *stomps her foot emphatically*

that didn't help did it?

I'll raise your "Pump up the Volume" for one "Legend of Billie Jean" --- there's even a nerdy guy in it for TB!

Oh no. You did not just say that Tavern Wench. You didn't like Galaxy Quest?! gasp Actually, I think GQ is best if you're a fan of Trek - or had been a fan of Trek - or have had friends who are fans of Trek - or for whatever reason went to a Trek convention and felt compelled to buy things you didn't want or need and.. Yes. Well, GQ was a riot. It's by far one of my favourite comedies.

"Don't you ever watch the show?"

Been so long since I've seen Pump up the Volume I hardly recall it. hides
hehe

And Dana giggled. I've so lost faith in her now.

And just a nerdy guy for TB? Hello! And what about me? Hmm? Have you ever seen a picture of Kevin Poulsen my all time favourite hacker - who just happens to be from Los Angeles and just happens to be the first hacker to ever made it onto the FBI's 10 most wanted list. He was cool. He was on Unsolved Mysteries. He used to update his website at www.kevinpoulsen.com. He used to work for ZDnet. He now works for securityfocus.com Not that we're stalking him or anything... innocent whistle *LOL*

Do you like how we've taken over this thread? Poor Matt must be shaking his head in frustration.

and Chaaaaaa! Riiight! g

Legend of Billie Jean was good too, but I'll take it and raise you Spaceballs!

HG: Im not a big Tim "the tool man" Taylor fan heehee
but Spaceballs...that Mel Brooks is quite a talent!

(Login roniabirk)

ok, Spaceballs does not count

September 25 2002, 2:49 PM

it's not angsty farfetched teen movies ... it's Mel Brooks. not that i have anything against Mel Brooks (no, no), but it was also a spoof. now before you say Galaxy Quest was also a spoof, let me just say it may have been mimicing Star Trek, but at least it had a plot! oh wait ... there may be a flaw in that argument. hey! it, um ... had ... Tony Shaloub! ha

oh great, the giant dentist is back

so if we are saying Spaceballs counts, and we're not, i will raise you ... Where The Day Takes You. i am not sure you can beat that for obscure, guilty pleasure movies. it has angst, it has drama, comedy, young upcoming actors, it has Dermot Mulroney sigh

and, what?!? we took over this thread? no way! chaa right! *giggle*

dang it, where is that giggle removal doctor? oh? ah, on his break with the chipectomy doctor.

:p
Dana
did anyone else catch the line "no one ever comes in here, it's just the 3 of us." -- or --- "she's right where i want her, and so are you ... 17"

poor poor Tamz

September 25 2002, 4:33 PM

never seen "Where the Day Takes You" ??

Dermot Mulroney - he was also in My Best Friend's Wedding (w/ Cameron and Julia, gag!, Point of No Return (and Gabriel Byrne, yea!), Copycat (dies, argh!, Bad Girls (dies again, sniff) ... those are some that i can remember off the top of my head. his IMDB listing should have them all though.

Where the Day Takes You (1992)

Cast:
Laura San Giacomo, Dermot Mulroney, Sean Astin, Balthazar Getty, Will Smith, Ricki Lake, Lara Flynn Boyle, Kyle MacLachlan, Nancy McKeon, Adam Baldwin, Alyssa Milano, David Arquette, Christian Slater (uncredited)

Non-Original Music by Melissa Etheridge

i highly suggest renting it. time to go for the day. gonna run in the park (they are restoring the prairie, i have a headache, and i missed my run at lunch, so i am skippin' out early and getting in some scenery) and then get the little one for some relaxing time. so what if my gutters need cleaned (still) and the lawns are a little too tall? "not gonna do it." (i just quoted a Bush. shoot me. shoot me now.) well, it was Dana Carvey as a Bush. then that's ok. Phew!

September 25 2002, 4:50 PM

Hey guys,

Just have to jump in here and say that I saw "Where the Day Takes You" too. (Flashback to my crush on the Young Guns guys- including Balthazar Getty).

Good movie. . . morbid, dark and disturbing, but defiantly a good movie.

Vikki, remember when ...

September 25 2002, 8:13 PM

Leonardo DiCaprio and Balthazar Getty were up and coming together? somehow for some unknown reason, Leo left poor Balthazar behind. and they worked so well together in that pig movie (Lord of the Flies). Sure, he's done things since, but have you ever been in a theater packed with young girls whispering "oh! there he is. omg. balthazar. i can't believe it. sigh" no? that's because it's never gonna happen!

i was tormented through 2hours of Titanic. Not only the movie, but I had two hours of girls oohing and ahhing and sighing and sobbing and crying out loud for goodness sakes from minute 0 to minute 120 whatnot.

*rolls eyes*

Stuck at work for ever and ever and ever..

September 25 2002, 8:46 PM

Taking a break. Have so much work to do today I am starting to wonder if I'm going to get to stay over night. Yea me. groans

Dana - Um... should I not tell you that I saw Titanic twice at the theatres and kinda, sorda, own a copy of it at home.

I'm not a big Leonardo fan - but I liked the movie. Much of it was well done IMHO. It was the romance, the love story that made it so remarkable - not Leonardo's acting skills. You could easily insert Eric from our beloved Common Ro into the story and it would have sold out as well. Cute, fresh faces and a fairy tale romance. What more could you want?

Of course, I'm still of the belief it would have been amusing if everyone had jumped overboard and then the Titanic had simply floated away. We like this.

Of course, we also think it'd be great fun to make a movie in which you fall in love with all of the main characters - and then have each of them die in senseless ways at the end.

Go Capt. Dan! I mean Stu!

that is probably the best adaptation of a Stephen King book into a tv movie they have done. IT was good, but there was too much the censors would not have let pass.

HG: don't worry about Titanic i own the dvd too but i only saw it that one time in the theater. you can understand why i didn't go back, lol. i love billy zane. he plays such a good bad guy. very, very creepy in Dead Calm (?) w/ Nicole Kidman.

Tamz: do you read the Gunslinger books too? If so, are you too excited about the next book? it is supposed to be out soon i think. i love the fact that he and Peter Straub finally officially tied together "eye of the dragon" and "the black house" to the series. and "hearts in atlantis" is connected too. i think that "insomnia" could be connected as well because we never find out why the old man had to save the boy from the plane crashing --- ooh! and how freaky was seeing the "Gentlemen" on Buffy, "Hush" for you? That is totally how i pictured the doctor things in "Insomnia" only they were supposed to be shorter.

His newer works just aren't giving me that "feeling" like the old ones did. Dean Koontz on the other hand Im much more up to date on. (When I get the time in my mommy and interent schedules) giggle

Home at last!

September 26 2002, 2:06 AM

Briel - Yeah for Titanic!

Tavern Wench - gasp gasp gasp No talking bad about Titanic. But we don't like Leonardo - so feel free to continue... I still cry when he dies.. that is, if I don't get carried away by her words "I'll never let go" right before she lets go of his hand. I mention this frequently and I do realise she wasn't talking physically. But geez. Much badness was the timing on that.. it periodically cracks me up. Depends on how tired I am.

As for My Best Friend's wedding.. The opening song is my favourite part of the movie. It amuses me to no end.

Dana - Dah'ling, Billy Zane is a great creep. Gotta love that.

Insomnia was a great book. I'm not a big Stephen King fan. Have only read two of his novels and one collection of short stories I bought simply because it had the orig. "Children of the Corn" story in it.

Most of my books are romance - Nora Roberts to be exact. But I've also gotten TOTALLY hooked on the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. They are pro'lly the most entertaining books I have ever read (Besides "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett).

Honestly, if you haven'te read the Evanovich books - go buy one NOW! They're wackey, zany 'detective' type novels about a girl named Stephanie Plum who becomes a NJ Bounty Hunter... Let's just say that where there are dead bodies or exploding cars - Stephanie will be found nearby. And generally it's her car that's exploding.

Hi Shelly! LTNS!

Yeah... we're like a virus... we keep spreading and taking over everything. I mean.. I need to stop watching the Matrix.

The Wedding Singer, huh? I don't think I liked that one. But then, I don't actually remember it either. I think it's the word "Wedding" that throws me. For instance, I've rented the Wedding Planner twice - the second time because I could have sworn I'd never seen it. And while I remember renting it twice, I mostly don't remember the movie other than the scene where they were stupidly throwing away candy. And I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Don't they know people are starving in third world countries and they're wasting CHOCOLATE? *tsks, grins and yawns*

Had the bestest veggie wrap for lunch today. Rosie's may be known for their bbq - but their vegetarian stuff is good too And you all wanted to know this.

Hello right back at ya! The Wedding Singer was the one with Drew Barrymore & Adam Sandler. It was set in the 80's and it was hysterical. I could watch it over & over & not get tired of it.

And I believe you're right, there is a law against wasting chocolate...or at least there should be.

Dana- I do remember, but I always thought Balthazar was better looking (I love that jet black hair) and Leo was always alittle to "pretty" for me. As for the Titanic, well, I try not to think about the movie too much, I still have nightmares about sitting in at the movies BORED out of my mind. . . and do I have to mention the leg cramps that a 3 hour movie can give ya??

Tamz- HI!!!!!!

Dana & Tamz- Stephen King rocks! Gunslinger is his best series. Did you ever notice that in the middle of the series Stephen King wrote that he doesnt think he could finish the series before he died? When I read that I was like. . . . "Thanks Steve, get me totally interested in this story and THEN tell me that there wont be an ending. . . . "

Tavern Wench-I raise you Cocktail. Now there's a movie

Dana-haha you're too funny. Which nerdy guy is this? And I said I like geeks not nerds. g And yes I caught those lines. All of them. When I read the script. g How about last nite's "has anyone not slept together here?" And Xander and Spike look at each other! Haha, hilarious g Never saw Where The Day Takes You but I did scream Dermont when I saw his name. He's so hot.

I think I had more to say but I forget what. All I gotta say is watch Broken Hearts Club and drool along with me at Timothy Olyphant. He is just YUMMY! Oh and I liked Leonardo and Titanic.

Dude...

I confess, I haven't watched Swordfish. Heard bad stuff about it. Was mildly disappointed with The Net and Hackers (Though "Dade" in hackers was hot, and you have to love anything with my baby Matthew Lillard in it). I mostly read about hackers... visit websites, buy one sided books by anti hackers.. err... yes.

The scene where Xander and Spike look at eachother was amusing. And AJ was happy about it. He likes to think of Spike as gay.. even though he doesn't think James is hot! Curses! Personally, if we're going to have any gay couples... we should investigate this whole... Andrew/Warren thing...

TB - whimpers Let me sleep.

You haven't seen Hackers? Ooh.. it's good. Except it's kinda not realistic. Like the phone thing. I mean, it used to kinda be possible to get free calls on a public phone. There was a tone you could play (or in Kevin Poulsen's case - whistle) into the receiver and it would give free calls. But that's outdated.

But my Matthew Lillard is in it. And as we all know, Matthew Lillard is cool. I mean, in 13 Ghosts I was screaming "Run Matthew! Run!" and stuff.. you know, trying to help him out. And like on Scooby Doo, I was like "Yeah! It's Matthew Lillard!"

Mostly, I think I just like saying his name. It's fun. Matthew Lillard. giggles

Don't think Jonathan works in slash fict. Andrew/Warren does.

We're way off topic. Here.. let me fix it.

You can thank my dad...

... For a lot of what was in "Hackers."

He was sitting next to some guy on a plane back from London many years ago and they got to talking- my dad's a computer geek, this guy's a studio exec. They want him to concept some film about hackers. What's a hacker? So my dad filled his head with oodles of info, most of which was made pretty damned unrealistic, but whatever.

He was in other movies too, but these three are my favourites. And it's cool, cause in every single movie he's been in he's played Matthew Lillard. hehehe.

didn't see Scooby

Didn't see 13 Ghosts
But I know who he is by face...

Um last movie I saw was Attack of the clones with my son
before that was spiderman...with my son
and before that was Lord of the Rings with my Auntie Cookie...before that was Pokemon 2000 (with my son)
somewhere in there is X-men but all those aside the movie I last saw before this short list was Ed Wood.

Now you know how often I get out (I am pathetic)

Yep! He was in Scream. And he played Matthew Lillard too.

Sounds mean of me, I know, but dammit, everthing I see him in he's the same. He's Matthew Lillard. hehe.

He's too fun.
