Hi Anon! It'd be easier to greet you if you choose a handle (name) to use rather than be all mysteriously anonymous.
We've done the get to know you threads before, but it's been a little while and you're new, so I'll cut you some slack
You're asking us the questions - I certainly hope you plan to answer yourself.

If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band): Hmm, this is tough. Who'd I want to meet? Certainly not Jack the Ripper, so I guess that takes care of "dead" - I want to meet Michael Deluise (yum!) or perhaps Tom Lenk, though I think I'm destined to be forever apart from the boy.. So many choices, why just one? Hmm... maybe I want to meet Kevin Poulsen or Kevin Mitnick. Phiber Optik? Drunkfux. Darth Veggie. Any of the Cult of the Dead Cow... Steve Jobs.. Captain Crunch... no wait.. I'll stick with Michael Deluise. Or.. wink
Why do you like Common Rotation? They're fun and you can bop to them. Bopping is good.

Why do you like Common Rotation?:
There are many good musicians out there, but none that have quite the power to make the crowd PART of the music. They don't just make music, they live it when they're up there; they improvise, they move (stand up and fall down, ha), they make crazy faces to accompany the songs so it's a full-on experience. Their friendship is also part of what makes them spectacular; it's clear they've been tight for a long time, so it makes it feel like you're sitting in on a (slightly more nervewracking) rehearsal. When they're up there, they look like they're having a good time, like they're comfortable with each other, and in addition to being innovative and not afraid to just do what works for them, they just freakin' rock. None of my other favorites have half the place in my heart... which is probably why I'm sitting here on this forum instead of on any of those other ones. laugh
Deborah: Drat. All of this time, I thought your name was really either Jane Doe or Martha. Three loud cheers for His Dark Materials. I cannot recommend this enough. If you liked the philosophy aspect of the trilogy, check out Sophie's World. As per the statement that you already know everyone you need to know to be happy - I congratulate you.

Favorite bands (besides Common rotation): Oh god too many to list but a few off the top of my head: Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond (what? My Mom brought me up on them and you can understand their powerful lyrics), Shania Twain, Celine Dion, White Eagle (*pimp pimp*), Four Star Mary, No Doubt, The Carpenters, Sarah Maclachlan, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morisette, Jewel, Queen, NSYNC (*ducks*), Tony Lucca (*pimp pimp*), Michael Crawford, Billy Joel, Elton John, and I like lots of soundtrack stuff, Newsies, almost anything Disney (Part of Your World is how Hacker Groupie and I met *g*), Moulin Rouge, The Who's Tommy, etc. I have very ecclectic tastes.
Favorite books: Again so many but a few choice ones: The Secret Garden (Frances Hodgson Burnett), The Bell Jar (Sylvia Plath), Wisdom of War and Sins of The Father (Christopher Golden), The Evil Men Do (Nancy Holder), Immortal and the Gatekeeper Trilogy (Golden and Holder), Animal Husbandry (Laura Zigman), Chicken Soup for the Singles Soul, the Surviving Soul, the Unsinkable Soul and the College Soul, most of the Angel series, especially Avatar, Shakedown, The Summoned, Soul Trade, Hollywood Noir, and Not Forgotten, The Remember Me series (Christopher Pike), XFiles novels Ruins, Ground Zero and Skin, The Great Gatsby (F. Favorite color: PURPLE! (I'm not called The Grape for nothing *g*) followed up by black
Do you play an intrument: No but I learned how to play acoustic guitar for a year back in Girl Scouts and would love to pick it up again. I do sing though, well I used to in Choir for years, started out 2nd alto, finished as a mezzo Soprano. When I train, I have quite a range. But I sound awful on a microphone. Meh.
If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band): Neil Diamond. His music and his words just move me so. I'd love to ask the meaning behind some of his songs.
Why do you like Common Rotation? Oh god, why DON'T I like em? Heh. Well they are just an amazing band. And they're a band you HAVE to see live to truly GET who they are. Their CDs rock, but there's nothing like a live Co Ro show. Never before have I seen someone put so much energy into a show (cept for Neil, cuz his shows are hella amazing and he's in his 50s! Heh). I also love how this band has such a wide sound, a wide range and their music can span generations (dude, my Mom likes em ). The lyrics, the harmonies, the instruments, all of it, just put together create an incredibly WOW band. Not to mention that one of the lead singers is a total doll As is the rest of the band They're good to their fans, they put on a killer show and they make awesome music. What's not to love? But I wish they'd bring back Burgandy. Meh.
Hi Poetrychick (nice handle btw), nice to meet you. Welcome to the Co Ro madness, erm I mean forum
See I like to ramble as you could tell from my survey. That's why surveys are so hard for me to answer. Heh. Oh and if you didn't notice, to me a few means several means alot. g

~Favorite books~ The Horse Whisperer by Nicolas Evans, Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, His Dark Materials Trilogy by Philip Pullman, White Oleander by Janet Fitch, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, and anything from when I was young such as the Sweet Valley books, Nancy Drew, or Christopher Pike.

~Do you play an intrument~ No but I can sing pretty well.
~If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band)~ Reese Witherspoon or Sarah Michelle Gellar
~Why do you like Common Rotation?~ Are there reasons not to? I like Common Rotation for many reasons, some of which I can't really put into words. I love how they can make the audience a part of the show and a part of their music. I love their spontaneity on stage and the improvisation they bring to the show. You never know what's going to happen or what will come out of Adam or Eric's mouths. I love how good of friends they seem and how you know they've probably been through a lot together over the years and I get the impression that they will remain friends through all that awaits. I love the music and how it can fit any mood I'm in and how it makes me feel. You can dance, you can cry, you can relax... you can do a lot to their music. I love how with only the strum of the guitar, the hum of the harmonica, the beat of a drum, I'm instantly in a better place and know that great music is on it's way. I'll never forget the moment I fell in love with the music and I hope that someday the whole world will know the Awesomeness that is Common Rotation. Adam, Eric, Ken, Rick, and Mike...As cheesy as it may sound, you guys seriously do ROCK MY WORLD!
~I could go on forever so I'll just leave it at that~

If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band): Ah... I don't know. I'd love to meet Eddie Izzard. I do know for certain that I wouldn't like to meet anyone who's dead. They'd probably smell and I'd have to carry the whole conversation on my own.

Dana - you cannot think of ANYONE you'd like to meet? Who says they have to be famous. I mean, maybe you want to meet my mom? I mean.. she IS uber cool. And um.. is mom-like.
I could add a gazilion names to my list.. non famous people... I want to meet my Aaron. He lives in Alberta Canada. I've known him since 1996 but we've never met face to face. I'd also like to meet my Johnny who lives in Sweden. I've only chatted with him since 2001 or so, but he's been around just as long and he's left fun messages on my answer machine. See, non famous and still uber cool to meet.
I'd also like to meet Methos from Highlander: The Series. Sure, he's not a real person... doesn't really matter does it? He's hot. And he's, like, old.

Why do you like Common Rotation? They play really good catchy songs and the band members are cool guys. I know rubbish answer but I'm tired

Okay, there's an idea. I want to meet the actor from "Willard" - Crispin Glover. Because he seems different and interesting. Plus, maybe he is my density. *l*

4 of my faves too! Since I only listed IME (as if that isn't painfully obvious to you all now), here's some more of my fave bands:
Treble Charger, Our Lady Peace, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, Not By Choice, Blink 182, Captain Genius, Lifehouse, Incubus, Everclear, Limblifter, Age of Electric, Santana, Matchbox 20, Eminem, JT (I apologize... *cough*Brielknows*cough*), Finger Eleven, Avril's ok (but NOT the reason I wear ties, heh), Nickelback, Wide Mouth Mason, Matthew Good Band... the list goes on and on and on and...
Everyone seems to love John Mayer lately. I've only heard "Your Body is a Wonderland". I wasn't too excited about it. Just another song. If anyone has some other MP3s of his stuff, pass 'em my way. Often singles are the least interesting on an album.

Name: Marie
Age: I'll be 23 in a week or so.
Location: Torrance, CA (whoohoo, home of the high school... but I wish I was in Westwood)
Favorite Bands other than CoRo: Matchbox 20, Bon Jovi, Lisa Loeb (ok, so she's not a band), Counting Crows, Suburban Legends (orange county ska band!), Tori Amos, Josh Grobin... ugh, too many.
Fave books: Exit to Eden by Anne Rice, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk, the Confessions of a Shopoholic series by Sophie Kinsella, short stories by Poe.
Movies: Princess Bride (don't fight, I know we all love it), Labyrinth, Legend, anything by Kevin Smith (esp. Mallrats), Empire Records, Oceans 11...
Color: purple and/or blue.
Play an instrument? I play the piano, used to be pretty good, but stopped taking lessons in high school. I also sing (both musical theater and pop songs. You almost say me on the reject bin for American Idol 2, but luckily I guess they threw it out)
If you could meet any one person...: Kevin Smith. And I'd beg to work on his next film with him. Seriously, I want to write just like him but with girls. Which means also less gross... but hey, there has to be a way.
Why do you love Common Ro?: How can you not? I didn't have any idea what to expect when I was invited to my first show, but they kept me laughing and bopping in my seat that I knew I could never leave them.
Darn it, I wanted this to be short. Oh well, back into lurk mode.
Favorite bands (besides Common rotation): Gaahh...too many to name. Plus, I'm oh so lazy.

If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band): To be honest...Edgar Allen Poe. Just because...wow, did that guy ever have a shitty life. I think he's one of the few people I would actually LIKE to hear bitch about their problems.
Why do you like Common Rotation? What's not to like? I mean...really. o_O
Is purple everyone's favorite colour on this forum?

OK I'll play too... I'm bored and don't wanna go to sleep yet. As some of you may already know, I'm quite fond of short answers.

Favorite Book: Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

Meet one person: my dad (he passed away 12 years ago)
Why like CR: they play fun songs with a fun attitude
poetrychick: Yes! I read it over the holidays, and no kidding it is, um, interesting. I saw the poster for the movie not long after, and I just thought, "They chose that book, of all his stories to turn into a movie??" It has a very interesting cast too. I will have to go see it, but just from the previews, they don't really fit how I pictured the characters in my head. For example, did I completely miss something on the character development of the lead General? Because, Morgan Freeman? I don't get that. Maybe I am too used to him being on the good guy side. On the other hand, the tv movies for "IT" and "The Stand" were casted perfectly. I could really see the characters there.
Basically, I have read all of his books now I think. I haven't gotten to see "Hearts in Atlantis" yet, but I want to since it is related to the Dark Tower series. Also, the book "Black House" that he co-wrote with Peter Straub was excellent and confirmed my thought that "Eye of the Dragon" was related to the Dark Tower too. I can't wait for the next book in that series, lol.

Hi Heather! Welcome to the board, good to see you posting. These get to know eachother threads can be fun, no?
Briel - "You remind me of the babe. (What babe?) The babe with the power (what power?) The power of voodoo (you do? Do what?) You remind me of the babe.."
snicker I love that movie! Of course, with David Bowie as our beloved Goblin King how could you not want to stay there? Yum. snerk
Of course, when I was younger I was TERRIFIED of accidentlly saying something along the lines of "I wish the Goblin king would take you away. Right now," to my kid brother. I pro'lly shouldn't say that though. I mean, god, I'm such a wuss.

CommonRo4Me - I loved A Separate Peace. It reminded me a little of Dead Poets Society. I read that when I was a sophomore in high school.
Age: 19, soon to be 20.
Location: Denmark.
Favorite bands (besides Common rotation): Queen and various others from time to time.
Favorite books: The Little Prince, The Green Mile, 1984, Brave New World. And Macbeth, but that's a play.
Favorite movies: None specific, it varies from time to time.
Favorite color: Blue. Or red.
Do you play an intrument: The piano. But not very well.
If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band): I have no idea.
Why do you like Common Rotation?
The music. The harmonies. The fact that they keep putting Union Maid song out on the Net for us to download.
The first song I heard, was What We Have Now - excellent. Then it was Indie Rockin' - wow, man! Those songs are so different, yet both great. I can't decide which song is my favorite, it all depends on my mood. I really, really love Union Maid 4 - Needing You So (?). Whenever I'm bored at school, I just put that on in my head. Wonderful.
I love Eric's and Adam's harmonies. I love hearing male choirs instead of girls.
Stef & Hacker Groupie- Thanks for the welcomes. It always takes the pressure off your first post with threads like this because you don't actually have to start one yourself to let everyone know who you are.

If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be (besides anyone from the band): I'd really like to just get inside the mind of everyone on this earth and really understand them and know what their life is like. But certain people in particular...Um, Hitler because it would be interesting to meet him as a person instead of just seeing him as this evil dictator, and Christina Aguilera because it seems like she's a really complex person and I'd like to meet her and try to understand her. Plus her voice is the shit.

Well, as long as people are going back to add things to their answers -- I'm adding American Beauty to my list of favorive movies.
Heather - I didn't notice before that you said you live in Wood Dale! I lived there for about 2 years before I moved to Carol Stream. (I always just say I'm from Chicago because I lived there for over 20 years and no one ever knows where Carol Stream is. :P)
Shelly- Thats so fun! I lived in Chicago for 13 years but moved to wood dale to go to high school and I'm still here while I finish college. I understand the feeling about people not really knowing where your from (Though I know where Carol Stream is ). I'll tell friends in school where I live and they still wont know and I have to explain that its by O'Hare and all that.
Alrighty, after many days of just lurking past this thread, (I don't know why, since I usually love little questionairs) I've decided, hey, I just drank two cans of Coke-a-Cola classic (Ken's fave ) , Had some good soup and listended to "Like The Sun" and "Dj: Dedication" back to back on loop for the past three hours, I'll chime in.. so here goes.. ahem...
Name: Rachel Fallon Hendrickson
Age: 16

Favorite books: What's a book?
Favorite movies: Joy Ride, American Pie 2

Why do you like Common Rotation?: I like CORO because they're very talented and their music is very unique and is like nothing I've heard before. They never fail to impress and entertain and when I see them live I will be able to experience it for myself.
So that's a little about me. As you can tell, I am probably the single dullest person in this forum. Meh.
Heather - Too funny! I lived in the Orchard Lakes Apartments, right by Potter & Prospet. It was a nice neighborhood, I liked it. Where in Chicago are you from? I lived right by Midway Airport.
