So I was at Starbucks tonight talking with my friend Gabby about Common Rotation and the Mike Uhler website in producton (I've been trying to get the girl to come to a show) when from a nearby table a female voice pips up "Are you talking about Common Rotation?"
I was floored as I glanced over at the woman who'd spoken and realised I didn't recognise her from the shows. (I mean, come on, you really do start to recognise other fans)
Apparently she'd seen the last Whisky show and loved the band. In fact, she was very excited to learn about the upcoming Knitting Factory shows.
It's incredible how fast CoRo is growing. I get so used to having people say "who?" when I mention CoRo that hearing a stranger gush about their first CoRo experience tickles me to pieces.
I recall previous discussions on this list, but don't honestly remember where we talked about it - so I'd like to open talk here: Want to share your memories of your first CoRo experience? Or share neat anecdotes about people you've brought to CoRo or people you've met through CoRo... here's a nifty thread to do it!
I've shown you mine, do we get to see yours, too?

What do I remember from my first CR experience, mainly them singing The Proclaimers, it they did it very well thought they were missing the thick Scottish accents!!
Thank you for sharing that story. The world gets smaller each and every day.
At work, we are not permitted to play albums which aren't among those mandated - the CD choices are changed monthly by corporate. However, some whistle while they work. I sing.
The tie-in here is that one of my co-workers is a close friend who I've converted to the ways of Common Rotation. This means that when I sing Common Ro around the workplace, not only does she know the song, she'll finish a line or completely join in.
i remeber that show lol i thought the accents were very well they were better than mine and i AM SCOTTISH and they are just so good at what they do

LW - That is awesome! I also sing at work, but seeing that I'm in an office I am not so sure I should. L Though, honestly, I'm not so cool as you - I don't sing CoRo, I generally get random bits of musical theatre stuck in my head. I had "Air" in my head from HAIR all day for instance.
Anon 1 - Oh dear, now I'm trying to imagine the guys with accents. It's amusing me to no end. I didn't see that show, now I'm jealous.
anon 2 sorry i couldnt be bother logging in yeah there accent were VERY good and well i nver knew the song before everyone elde did but i didnt , i never even knew it was the proclamers or watever thery are called till anon 1 said it anyway the show was very good
The only one i ahve seen but i have 2 new ones lined up

You didn't know that was a Proclaimers song? You are Scottish right? tut tut.
Sector 14 film all the events and distribute the videos, they are not on sale yet but if you really wanted to see the performance you could probably order one. I vaguely remeber them saying they would be ready at the End of Days Convention which is in May.
i am scottish but i live in my own little world ,so at that time ( 2 mins before i heard common ro ) my idea of the best band in the world was a tie between n'sync and BSB and i want a copy of that film , how would you get one ? grr me makin a ass of me
That's right, I blame TB... she's the one who got me to d/l some CoRo music... and then I had already planned to see TMBG when they played in Scottsdale, AZ (about 20 minutes east of me)... so when I learned that CoRo was opening, I was very excited to have a chance to finally hear the band live since I had liked what I'd downloaded.... and well, we were so impressed... they were better than TMBG, I thought... the show was so awesome that we drove all the way to LA for their show at Citiwalk in August, not too long after the TMBG show.. and now we're hooked! If CoRo plays within driving distance of a weekend/day we can get out of working, we're there....
HG/LW: I don't sing at work, but our Executive Director does. Loudly. And off key. It's quite distracting.
Very lucky to have seen the show, I still say it sounds like a blast. Also, I love living in my own world, too
CeCe - Oh god, I'm cracking up about your Executive Director singing. Honestly, even if a person can't sing - if they're willing to do it anyway you've got to give them props for balls.
Yeah for TB converting you. Converting the world is the next step in this our ultimate plan.

Stef - Starbucks is good. It makes us happy and keeps me (relatively) sane.
CeCe - Your boss scares, Craig? I thought that guy was unflappable!
And yes, that IS indeed a Starbucks cup. A venti 2 sugar latte to be exact though. It's the drink of Gods. Or at least of Hacker Groupies. And really, isn't that special?

Bah! I'm so poor at the moment that I have to get coffee at 7-11...granted it's pretty good (their new gourmet stuff), but it's not a latte.
Anyone wanna buy me a vanilla latte?

My first Co Ro experience, well if you wanna know, go read at the site: TB's ABC Story It's all there. And I can't believe I wrote it like that. Must have been like 5AM or I was way drunk or something. Also it needs to be updated, since it's a bit outta date (I'm no longer 22, heh.) g
Hacker Groupie-that picture is sooooooooo you! Heh.
Cece-all MY fault huh? I don't hear you complaining. Much. g *smoochlie* Yes but who introduced you to Danny huh? Yeah, that's what I thought. g
CommonGirl-I sang Fortunate, Oklahoma, Post Modern, and Offstage Lines on Wednesday nite to myself while recovering the Gag Factory. I tend to sing CoRo and White Eagle songs when doing recovery. To myself of course cuz otherwise, weird looks abound. Heh.
Speaking of songs...
Random music moment...
"You need a hot wet kiss tonite. You don't have to love me till we turn out the light."
I've had that damn song in my head for the past three hours. Just the chorus mind you, last song White Eagle played tonite and it just stuck there. I swear try singing that at work and you get some real ODD looks. Meh.
