Common Rotation mention in Los Angeles Times

Hi, everybody! There is a nice blurb in the Calendar Weekend "8 Days" section of today's (Thursday, Oct. 2) section of the Los Angeles Times on Common Rotation. Under Friday: "Common Rotation featuring Adam Busch, whom TV fans will recognize as nebbishy Warren on the late, great "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," this band has been earning strong marks for its infectious and intricate rock grooves. Hotel Cafe."

Under Saturday: "Common Rotation. See Friday. Knitting Factory."

Note: the Times gives the time at Knitting Factory as 10 rather than 10:30.

So ... a recommendation in the Times is never a bad thing

Cool about the mention in the callendar. Now we just need them to review

For those of you who looked at the word "nebbishy" and wondered, like me, what the heck that meant, here's what the Merriam-Webster online dictionary has to say:

Main Entry: neb·bish
Pronunciation: 'ne-bish
Function: noun
Etymology: Yiddish nebekh poor, unfortunate, from Czech nebohı
Date: 1951
: a timid, meek, or ineffectual person

I love the English language. And, not including Pig Latin, it's the only language I know. Good to learn new words. Now I know that it's not a good thing to be called or described as nebbish. Ick. Timid? Meek? Ineffectual? Pah!

Sure, okay, I see Charlie Chan, Fu Manchu and a hundred howlin' monkey temples, and that's just for starters, right? Fine! I'm back! I'm ready, goddammit let me at 'em!"

I'm trying really hard to get them mentioned in the magazine I work for- even though the CD came out a while ago- it would be nice to have it mentioned- I'm working on it-

Kim- EW as in Entertainment Weekly? Or some other magazine...?

As for the LA Times mention, yeah I noticed that too. There is one interesting thing about it, though...they NEVER ever mention the Hotel Cafe in their listings. This is the first time I've seen a listing for the Hotel Cafe in their...listings. So what does this mean? Are they going to review the boys? Do they just like them? Who knows....but I just thought that was interesting.

Kim works for EW?

October 3 2003, 5:00 PM

Oh my golly Kim, I am now so envious, working for EW, I love that mag, I mean the only better job would be working for MacAddict, for me at least. I always said this to my friends that I would kill to work of either mag. But we all know the logistics of a graphic artist getting mag work is slim to none, or at least I am told. It is all get in when the mag starts up kinda a thing, or work for a scolastic mag -giggles- Ok so those are what I have been offered at least -grin-

Oh and why the LA Times listed them on at 10 and not 10:30? Well in my experiance publications always list 30 min early. Or when the show starts
