I had never heard the band before Saturday evening in Nashville, and I was incredibly impressed...not only were the music and lyrics amazing, but their level of energy was, well, exhausting! But in a good way.

Thursday night Nashville show

November 3 2003, 3:00 AM

Unfortunately, I missed the Saturday show. But I did catch the Thursday night show at The Sutler. The whole band was there for that one. It was also my first Common Rotation show, and those guys absolutely rocked. Definitely hope to see them in the area again!

They rocked!

November 3 2003, 5:07 PM

Nashville was my first chance to hear Common Ro and they were fantastic! So much so that I walked out with two CDs in hand...

For the person who asked, it was Adam/Eric.

I do have one pic up in my photo album, but my shots of the concert were just really too dark...if y'all want to see them anyway, I can always put the others up, so just let me know. I know there were others there with cameras, so hopefully better shots will circulate later

that increadable band in nashville... Geee... *I wonder* what their name is... from Cat

November 3 2003, 6:33 PM

Same thing here like you guys. well, I heard an mp3 from this site, but I'll tell you that I was suprised and blown away. I'm not a groupy type person, I'll tell you that now.

I'm a music person, I've spent more than 4 years involved in chorus type stuff with a teacher who makes a sh** load of money in singing lessons, performing, and etc. Lol, I was in the back standing. and you know, that's cool since unless I were in the very front of that crowd near the stage, I wouldn't be able to see a thing. I think I got in one chicks way at a point, but I think that was when I was just trying to take a pic that was a little closer. Got reprimanded for it cause the chick complained, but okay, no skin off my back (didn't intend that as a pun), I just went to the very last row and stood on a chair.

Annnyways. The guys were increadable. Great performance, physically, with smooth strong voices. When they came to sing to us in the back, without mic. I was so pleatantly surprised (but you know, not really since after you see them on stage with them, you kind of figure they'd do just as great just without the mics) at the great projection and voice control they had.

Both Adam and Eric (only saw them sat) were cool and nice guys. I have a case of the shyness usually, lol, but you guys might remember me since I sometimes also make an a** of myself. I had the long black hair with some red streaks in it. You guys were wonderful! Too bad that I heard on the way home, that friday night the whole band did a 5 dollar concert? pouts oh well.

The concert brought a smile and grin to my face. Wonderful music!

Hope you can make it to the next Tampa Vulkon. I don't think you could since you said you were doing some touring, and I didn't hear fl. (I say tampa since fundage will probably be just be for tampa lol.)

If I met any of you fellow fans there, it was great to see ya! and I'll just say theres a word that starts with T and W... and I'll just say fun.

Luv,

Adam had a question.

November 3 2003, 6:58 PM

This was in Nashville. and there wasn't really a way for me to answer it. lol. There were some guys behind me that noted when he was signing his autograph that 'You're that cat!" fromt the vulkon vorum (vulkon being the convention that Coro played at ) ..
Adam asked what that exactly ment, and I was kind of 'oh cr*p' since I'm kind of known for I guess inuendo, funniness, among other things and didn't want to want to say anything that would come out wrong.

I just said, 'You don't wanna know'. lol. Adam said okay.

and since I don't see a sort of fanmail email for the group and so this doesn't bug me later on. I'm going to put two links to strings at the forum, one created by me because of my inuendo and stuff which got contagious.. lol.

If this isn't okay. that's cool. delete it for monitoring.

Late Night Twister at Nashville!!! (weae your jammies, costume, or whatever!)

http://www.vulkonforums.com/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=241

That plus, because of my bored , so lots of posting, should explain it. Adam probably won't read this, lol, but thought I might as well try.

Again, great concert, trully good music that immediatly makes you grin and that you can just immediately get into. (bad way of explaining it.. but there ya go.)

I will say it sounded so different without Jordan there. So many times I kept waiting for him to break in with the horn! L

They were fantastic!!

Fave part of SlayerCon weekend? Running into Adam in the lobby and him giving me a hug and saying I looked really good.

November 5 2003, 10:33 AM

I, too, attended Vulkon Nashville & I have to say, the highlight for me was the CoRo concert (& getting sweet compliments from Adam & totally stealing a hug!) I had no idea how much I'd love them. I bought 'The Big Fear' & have played it NON-STOP since Saturday. I will be purchasing '28 Orange Street' & a t-shirt soon (I have a bumper sticker on the way!) Obsess much? Nah.

I saw DJ that night, singing right along & taking pictures/video(?) I could kick myself in the butt for not bringing my video camera & my camera was taking crappy pictures, or maybe it was just user error. Most likely the latter. Grrr.

I only wish I had known they were playing The Sutler Thursday night! Now that I'm keeping up with them, I'll know their every move! I'm not a stalker... really.

I just wanted to say that I had an amazing time & I am so glad I've found these guys (finally, huh?)

Mmmm, 2x the CommRo

November 5 2003, 1:25 PM

Yes, I was lucky enough to get to see the whole band Rick, Mike, Prof. Ken, Eric, and Adam at The Sutler on Thursday and it kicked much of my tired Missouri butt. I was very happy to hear Mike sing his own lil song. Didn't catch the title of it, as I have, I guess selective hearing. A nice little acoustic version of "Oklahoma" was played as the encore. It was a nice treat, although I know the band is slightly sick of this song, just because of it's sheer popularity.

Afterwards I prompted my pal who was seeing CommRo for the first time to buy both CDs. We then proceeded to talk Mike and Rick's ears off at the bar. I was pleased to hear a story of Rick's about his hate of Iowa. They were both entertaining, as it was around a Buffy convention we shyed off from bothering Adam, he was posing for pictures and such. Sadly I didn't get to talk to Prof. Ken that much... I wanted to comment on his snazzy shirt, but alas. He was kicking it out on the drums though.

So after trying to grab the autos for my friend who couldn't make it I was all, 'damn no Eric' then low and behold he showed up and again, was a complete sweetheart. I thanked him for the Oklahoma treat and he said they were trying to find another way to play it so they wouldn't get so 'ick' with it. I said... maybe backwards?

Then came the concert of just Eric and Adam at the convention, I wasn't sure if I could swing the money, but it came through at the last minute and what a great treat. Although it took two days for my right ear to basically be able to hear again it was worth it. And hey Eric posed with my stuffed fish! It was a different experiance since I had only seen the whole band, twice before, but so nice. Thanks to the "soundcheck" song request, I can NEVER remember titles. It was such a great relief.

I must say the playing with the verses in Fortunate was wonderful. I really like that the guys can do such quick thinking. Again, they were great shows, great guys, and hey Matt is a cool guy as well... I think it's the beard.

Brenda - It's not the beard - it's Matt's hippie-ness. Hippies are cool AND we're going to take over the world... but in a quiet, non-violent sort of way.

Glad ya'll had fun.

Loved it.

November 6 2003, 12:48 AM

The Buffy con. was my first time seeing or hearing Common Rotation. I wasn't expecting much but turns out they blew me away. So much that i bought both CD's and a T-shirt. My favorit part was when they performed border line. Got to love a guy who sings a madonna song. When you see two, even better. I had a great time at the concert it was the best part of the weekend.
Thanks for the great show.

Video from Nashville

November 6 2003, 9:53 AM

I've added two video clips from Saturday on my site, one of "Borderline" and one of "Live in Five".

You're gonna need the free RealOne Player to view them. There's a version for dial-up users, and one for faster connections (cable, DSL, T1).

Sorry the video quality is kinda crappy -- the lighting at the venue sucked, and this was my first time using this feature on this camera (which wasn't a video camera).

I had trouble accessing the videos. My computer froze, and I had to shut down and then it went through this long list of things it was fixing before I could even get the computer started again. I'm going to a friend's house tonight, so I'll try again from her computer.

November 7 2003, 9:23 AM

Hi Briel... I want to edit the videos first -- try to brighten them up, optimize the audio, attach info to the clip, etc. Once I do that, I'll post downloadable versions. I'm too much of a perfectionist, I guess.

Thanks LOVE, Stef, Karen... I'm actually bringing two cameras tonight, so I'll be able to take more video clips, while my friend takes the stillshots. (I hope the guys don't mind being video-recorded!)

Mindy, I'll email you with info on the picture thing.

On another note -- can tonight really be the last East Coast gig till MARCH??! Say it ain't so!!

Cheers,
D.J.

DJ-Thanks again for the vids! I love Borderline Now I need an audio recording of it

I think as long as the venue allows video, the boys don't mind and are especially thankful if you give em a copy of it later. Like if it's videotape or something. Or just send an email to Matt with the links I think the boys get a kick outta us videoing em.

I know it cracks me up whenever I am writing someone's Mouse Ears and all of a sudden I look up and I'm being videotaped! I must be in so many random videos and photos it's not even funny.
