How cool is this?
----------
Everyone has a place of their own. A place to breathe freely in a somewhat claustrophobic world, a place to kick your shoes off and crank up your favorite folk music, a place to drift off into the seemingly endless abyss of the internet or digital cable television, place tolose and keep track of exactly who you are, a place to get some living
done. Some might call it a home. It's only when we share this home with others (whether it an apartment,
a house, or a cardboard box behind the supermarket), that we finally develop an intimacy unlike any kind. With a lover, a friend, a family member, or a foreign exchange student from Saudi Arabia, we instill
these feelings by sharing such a personalized confined space. By opening your home to even a mere visitor there in return opens a new meaningful relationship.
With all of this in mind, Common Rotation has adopteda new campaignplan. In light of there recent success as a folk duo, Adam and Eric, foresee a new future for their U.S. tours. By way of avoiding hostileclubs along with their obscene admission and drink prices the boys would like to forge onto un-folked territory across this great land through the months of February, March, and April of 2004. They want to cut out the middle man and bring their undeniably entertaining show to your living room.
Many fans attending their performances have been driving or flying unspeakably long distances just catch Common Ro in their element and this is still encouraged and appreciated. The one question these
travelers always ask that always stumps CR is "When are you coming to(insert small town far away from the Northeast or L.A. let's use Kalamazoo just for fun)?" Well NOW the answer to this is simple. On a
strategic date scheduled between the folk club/coffee house engagements of there winter/spring tour Adam and Eric will come to play an intimate performance in your living room. They will bring all of their songs
and road rage straight to your couch.
They know that you're thinking there must be a catch. An evening with the CR boyz, in my own home! This is too good to be true. It's not and in fact it is far from complicated. To host a 2 hour Living Room
set all you would be required to do is open your door at specific time to 15-20 people and let Common Rotation take it from there. The performance will be of the quality expected at a folk club if not more
intimate. Common Rotation will accept 5 to 10 dollar donations to keep them moving from show to show while selling merchandise during and briefly after the set. Immediately following the show everyone will be
filed out accordingly leaving you to your humble abode.
All you have to do to schedule a Living Room performance is e-mail us
at: bookings@commonrotation.com
In order for Common Rotation to bring their music to you and create unbreakable ties between them and their fans we need volunteers. Help your favorite folk band reach more people and establish homes in small towns on the east and west coast and everywhere in between.
Yeah, I'm not sure if I should cry, shoot myself (both for living on the wrong continent) or just be damned proud to be a fan of the coolest band on this planet!

I have a small living room too. Maybe I could move a few things and have everyone sit on the floor. That might be enough for 15 people maybe more if some people stood against the wall.
...It's worth thinking about.

size matters
November 24 2003, 5:54 PM
Or does it? If you have one at your house, it's a safe bet half or more of the attendees will be close friends, maybe family, and what's better than being snug and cozy w/ friends and family?
My house is not big by any stretch of the imagination - for two people, why would it be? But, our first year here, somehow everyone seemed to be accepting the birthday invites, so I actually had about 15 adults and 8 kids in my livingroom. It's possible, but then my livingroom has nearly zero furniture because I don't like feeling crowded by stuff.
Hi all, and special wavies to my German neighbours btw, is there a large number of you?. I understand you... My living room would be great, but it's a bit far away from the east coast. Well, it's on the east... of France. Arg.
And in the end, I'm happy too, because I think about joy and happiness somewhere else in the world.
And maybe I should rename my cats Adam and Eric. I can't, though, because one of them is a girl. One of the cats of course
all I have to do now is to focus on this horse bit history

I can't believe how cool this is! Now is the time for me to lament that I live in a studio apartment...but as God is my witness, I will scout the houses of strangers if I have to in order to find a place in my area that would work
I'm so in a... where, who's living room can I steal.. who's who's. But yes, this has defineatly made my Thanksgiving beyond great. And what a way to get the word out. So now I just have to find a house. I can do this.
Luckily enough, I have a semi large living room. Now I'll just cross my fingers that they come play there!

wow... how cool is that?
hope some of you guys can find a living room that's big enough lol
Sadly, I'm also stuck at the wrong continent (waves back to Delphine g ... I don't know if we are that many germans on this board...but I'm at least the third one posting in this thread ) , and the fact that my living room wouldn't be big enough anyway isn't really a big consolation lol
but still... that's just an AWESOME idea...I don't think there's any other band that could come up with something like this
... crossing my fingers for anyone who's trying to work something out and who might get the possibility of a living room gig
My living room's a little full, but I've got a decent sized (16x14') rec room that can be cleared out lol. You could actually fit the full band with drums and about a dozen people in here! I wish this little tour included Canada. But February in Winnipeg can be kinda the brutes.

I... wow. Just wow right at the moment. Some days it's really really great to say you're a CoRo fan, and days like this, it's beyond fantastic.
How cool is this you ask? It's way fucking cool! When I read that I seriously flipped out and my family thinks I'm nuts. I've already e-mailed about it. If this happens I will be the happiest girl around (and a few of my close friends will be happy too cuz they'll be invited!)

I was the first to respond to that there thread. LOL And then I said:
who knows? it could happen...someday!
I was thinking...If there was the problem of getting the equipment around there is always the option of doing the tour with just Adam and Eric. Get the audiences interested and then go back at a later date with the whole band. This way you only have a guitar or two and a harmonica. Those don't take up much space.
OR Ken could just bring one of his little drums like he used at Genghis Cohen or in the Viper Room Parking lot....
It sure is fun to dream about it happening huh?
This is so cool. lol

First off I just wanna say how cool this whole idea is. Secondly, I think my living room, if my furniture were moved around could house this many people. If not, I have a full, finished basement that could work as well. I'm in the Nashville area, so if anyone in Tenn., northern Ala., southern Ky., etc. wants to maybe talk about doing something with this, but don't know if they have the space, just give me a buzz.

I just asked my dad if we could move to the States.
I just wanted to chime in, and say Wow. How amazing this is?! And I think Meg stated it PERFECTLY above: "Some days it's really really great to say you're a CoRo fan, and days like this, it's beyond fantastic."
I know I have a slim-to-none chance, being in NYC (and not Kalamazoo), but this is a great time to be a Common Rotation fan, and what these guys do for us continues to astound me.
Good luck to everyone who's entering, and if you're the owner of said Living Room, you better keep us all posted!
Okay, my living room is definitely big enough. Actually, there are two living rooms, open onto each other through a sort of large arch. The band could be in one, and we could fit people around in both rooms.
My usual parties fit 30-40 people in quite nicely, so I'm hoping. I'm in CT, not too far from New York, and I could get 10 of my own friends to come, no problem. Add in people from the shows and the boards and we've got a party! Plus, my roommate and I just LOVE hostessing. We'd have the cocktails and noshy foods all ready.
And the gig on the 23rd at the BE ... is all the Christmas gift I need.

Great idea!

Ok, so we're all obviously very excited about this idea. Now all we need to do is convince the guys to do the same thing in other countries! Hell, they could extend it to tour all of Europe!
Adam, Eric, if you ever decide to do the same thing in the UK you can gladly have my living room. Take over the entire house if you like!!

My sentiments exactly, DJ. Almost makes me wish I didn't live in a major city that the guys frequent. Good luck to those who emailed. Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I'll be continuing to kick it up with the old folks in my retirement villa. Or at least allow them to hate me and attempt to kick me out. :D
If it meant having Adam and Eric in my house, I'd gladly let 5 people sit on my lap to fit them all in.
Unfortunately with me being in West-bygod-Virginia, I don't think they'll ever be anywhere near me in order for them to show up.... but at the very least, it's a beautiful dream. sigh

Jenn - hehe... I love your five people sitting on your lap bit. Dana and I spoke on the phone a few minutes ago, she claims my apt isn't the size of a shower. So maybe it's the size of a SUV. We figure we could stuff the guys in my bathroom (hey accoustics are great there!) and everyone could squish together in the rest of the studio... then maybe it'd work.
Not sure how Mike, Erik and Adam would enjoy standing together in my shower... but hey, there's a built in seat for Ken.
Okay.. back to reality.
I think it's a great opportunity for fans and the guys. Sounds fun.

Naggzfest Valentine's Day Celebration
November 26 2003, 9:02 AM
That's basically what this sounds like. As I'm a Long Islander, I don't know if they'll make a trip out to the east side of the ghetto for a living room party. Actually, it would take place in the basement, which has ample room for people and band alike. I don't recall them ever playing in the basement (although I could be wrong - my memory is pretty bad these days). They have played in the backyard multiple times, but it will be way too cold in February for those schinanigans.
I would of course have to run it by the 'rents before anything. Or maybe I can schedule it when they are somewhere else in the world (Luxemburg, London, Edinburgh, Cairo, who knows - they travel so damn much I keep telling my dad he should just buy a damn plane already). I think it would be a kick ass time, as always for any Naggzfest, winter, spring, summer, or fall. So we'll have to see. It would definitely be fun though. We'll just have to see. I'll keep everyone posted.
Finally, I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. We all have much to be thankful for, especially with the Adam & Eric Living Room Bonanza!!
peace and love,

Naggz, if you have a gig, I am there. With brownies made from scratch!
I would not recommend using my living room, but I do have a finished basement! Carpeting, wood panel walls, and a bar (although the hardest thing stocked in it is usually Pepsi or some Walmart al-cheapo version thereof). I just hope that Eric and Adam wouldn't mind the NASCAR/Collector car memorobilia that just takes over the room.
Or since this is taking place in Feb-April, hopefully by then my friend and I will have our first apartment and what a great way to "break it in."
But I commend the boyz for having such confidence and bravery to do this- going into unknown homes and giving such performances. They really must trust us and appreciate us.

It should be noted that Hacker Groupie is not, in fact, advocating thievery. Nor is Hacker Groupie claiming to know that the REAL reason Adam and Eric plan to do living room gigs is so they can rob you blind. Hacker Groupie doesn't claim that that isn't the reason either. She also doesn't claim New Kids on the Block autographs are worth money.

CoRo Baby - I agree. It's great the guys are so trusting. Okay, a little scary. But I'm sure they'll use some sense when choosing which homes to go to. A fan named "Ted Bundy" probably won't get to have the guys play at his home. You know, just a hunch.
I wonder if it HAS to be a living room.. or my living room. I'm all for inviting myself and the guys into someone else's place.
Ooh... we could road trip to Eugene, Oregon and take over my mom's house. Or I could pester JoeNJim and see if we could take over their theatre.... or their house. They have a nice house and a pool.
So many options...

I live in an apartment... the living room is just a tad too small (so's the rest of the rooms for that matter...) sigh Besides, my 15-20 people would think I'm a freak ang not go... they suck...
I have a living room and a rec room, both of which are the same size, both of which are an okay size for the guys. But sadly, I live in Ontario, Canada. Meh. Just a few more weeks of working at Mc.Crappy's and I can afford to go down to see them in the East coast. Yay me.
The more time passes, the more my brain is screaming, "Well, if we take out the couch, TV, and that wall over there, we could fit plenty of people!"
And then I'm thinking, "Oh, well if we invite my Aunt Gracie's second cousin's neice's brother friend's sister, we'll have more than enough people! And we'll liquor them up, so they'll cheer real loud!"
I really hope this works so well that they do it in the UK and Ireland too. My living room is the perfect size. I'd have to get a damn bus to bring people all the way out from Dublin, but hey, no problem. g
I really hope they do this over here too! It would be insane. It would be perfect.

"I really hope this works so well that they do it in the UK and Ireland too"
Ok I win, I have the smallest living room since I don't actually have one smirks at HG
But anyway, what I meant to say is: If there is a Long Island gig I can asure you plenty of people would want in on that one. Long Island rocks! and Ummm yeah.
When I first heard about this idea I just assumed that it would not be in the areas where they normally play gigs but then again... why not?
Well since my living room is big enuf but full of crap, that's out. Unless I can get it clean enuf by then I mean I do have a nice dining room that would work, it's just a matter of moving things around. My living room goes from one end of the wall to the door, it's not very wide, more lengthy than anything. Mrf.
But Mom did say I might be able to use her living room. She also suggested I ask my apt people if I could rent our common room.
This is such a great idea though. Should be much fun. Hopefully I can make it to a few of these living room parties

If your one of those ppl I have read that are saying you can't fit 15 people in your living room, try it! Get the fifteen people who would like to see the concert and do a "pre concert" to see where everyone would sit/stand and where the band would go. I would also recommend this to everyone who is going to do this, just so there is no pushing and shoving and everyone will be happy with where they are!
