Well... I have gathered that judging by the time of this show and the time it is now, people should just about be getting home or whatever. So... for those of you who did attend this show, how was it?
I was there... and it was the greatest night of my life... ever. CR is my favorite band, and this was the first time I've seen them live and was so so happy. It was great. I don't think Adam heard my "Warren" chants... but then again he probably did and thought "Oh great, not another Buffy freak." But yes... they are not my favorite band because of BtVS (thats part of it)... but I never loved music so much until I heard them.

Hi Anthony, sounds like you had a great time. I'm glad to hear Adam made it to this show. Any other titbits you'd like to share, like what colour shoes Eric was wearing & did Adam say anything funny?
Well, yes, it was easily the greatest night of my life. I was so glad Adam was there (because of my BtVS obsession)... but still would of had a great time if he didn't.
Um, I don't know about the color of Eric's shoes... I was too busy shouting "Warren!"
Adam did say a lot of funny things... as well as his actions during the songs... for instance, shaking his head back and forth during Indie Rockin's "Wooo oooooh, wooo oooh, woooo oooooh"... and all of the falling down at the end of "Sit Down".
It was just an amazing night all around... I will never forget it.
Also when Adam was talking about The Nields when he said... "They are just like us... except girls. And related."
I wish they would have played longer... but I can understand why they didn't... but I loved it anyways. Adam could have just came out to the stage and just stood there without saying anything and then leave, and I would have been satisfied. Heck, he could have just stuck his foot out of the dressing room and I would have been satisfied.
I took a few pictures, but with the lighting and the capabilities of my digital camera... this is my best one... The Nields came out to sing part of the last song with them...
I also bought their Bitter End and Hotel Cafe recordings... LOVE 'EM. (And might I add... VERY VERY GREAT QUALITY)...
... nothing is funnier than when Adam tells everyone to buy their merchandise... "so we don't have to load it all back onto the bus... and by bus I mean van. And by van I mean Jordan's car."

I thoughtit was great when Adam and Eric and the Nields did the Beatles "I've seen a Face" during the Nields set. Ken and Jordan also came out during the Nieldset with Adam and Eric but I don't know the name of that song. The Nields also did "God Will" with the guys during CR's set and it seems from talking to Eric that they've been doing stuff together every night which is neat.
Haha Jordan's car! That's too funny. They really should get a van... or a Uhaul... or something.

A uhaul. Haha, I can only imagine that, it could be like the guy's signature toruing vehichle. Jory could set up some bunk beds in the back, tv, a mini fridge, the works. It could be fun. No porta potties though. I mean, in the event of a car accident... well... what a mess.
And yay! Ken is finally doing some more shows... hopefully I can make it out to see him sometime this summer.

So you were the guy yelling Warren. I was wondering. I was yelling TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES since I was sitting with a bunch of gals who would have liked nothing more. Didn't bands learn anything from AC/DC? Taking off at least your shirt will enhance the music experience for ALL envolved.
My friends and I kept yelling ADAM because we thought he would be pissed off by someone yelling WARREN. Good to know you're a fan.

Geez! Someone actually yelled out Warren? Adam really hates that- I know he gets that a lot, but he really does want people to come for the music and not cause he was on buffy.
The band isn't the only one annoyed by screams for Warren...

Yes, I was the loser shouting Warren. I'm apologize for that. Its just that... seeing my favorite actor in person for the first time... was quite the life accomplishing goal for me. I wasn't there just for "Warren"... because Common Rotation is indeed my favorite band, and I was totally there for the music.
I'm a fan. Fans are always crazy. Thats what we do. We wouldn't be fans if we didn't. Now that I got the "Warren" shouting out of my system... if/when the next time I see Common Rotation... those shouts will be turned into Adam.

I am not starting any arguments here... I am just simply stating...
... First time ever seeing my favorite actor in person from my favorite TV show. I would have not known about Common Rotation if Adam was not on the show. When I heard that he had a band, I checked it out... LOVED THEIR MUSIC. Instantly went online, bought both of their CDs on here, a t-shirt and a lovely little button. I found out that they were playing in WI, I flipped out! I instantly got tickets (for me and two of my friends whom I got them loving CR as well)... went to the show, had the BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE. Bought both of the live CDs they had to offer... bought another t-shirt (but then returned it because I realized it was a women's shirt). But yeah... so, if Adam would have never been on Buffy, I wouldnt have found out about Common Rotation and wouldn't have REALLY enjoyed and appreciated music the way I do now after hearing them and now seeing them live.
So dont be "dissing" me if I happen to be excited. Sure, Adam may not like the Warren chants... but if he wasnt on that show... I would never have found out about this band, and would not be the fan I am today.
Nuff said.
Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to watch some Warren episodes on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Well, I am an actor and I know you learn to appreciate your past successes and failures because those can help lead to bigger and better things...no matter what path you take. He shouldn't be embarrassed. It allowed him to show the world a bunch of talented and gifted musicians. As one of my favorite quotes goes, "Luck is what gets you the job. Talent is what keeps it." And everybody can see the talent, no matter what the guys, individually, are or aren't.
I can't fault a person for being excited.

Anthony, it's just rude and you're wrong on this one. Step outside of the situation, think about it for a second and don't ever do it again. I have a feeling the band would rather you didn't show up at all then show up and shout such nonsense. Just my hunch.
On one hand, I understand you being excited at seeing "Warren" from Buffy. But on the other hand, whether he was on the show or not, his acting and his music are two different worlds...and you have to remember there are other people on stage with Adam that might feel kind of crapped on by you associating them with Buffy. Then they're just some guys who happen to be in a band with this guy from Buffy.
My 2 Cents..not that I really care.

Re: Luther's Blues
March 6 2004, 8:05 PM
Here is my opinion, not that it counts for much, Adam is an actor he knows that people calling him by character comes with the job.
Anthony was wrong to chant Warren, for two reasons the first being very simple his name is Adam (duh I know) but I think part of being a true fan and not just a crazed fan is knowing the actors actually name and using it, it's respectful. The second reason is that it probably embarrassed Adam because he is standing on stage with this other guy Eric who happens to write and sing most of the bands songs and his share of the limelight is being taken away because some audience member is chanting Warren.
I really do feel bad for Eric sometimes, especially when it comes to newer fans introduced to them from Buffy. Without him the band wouldn't have as many brilliant songs and the newer fans are so focussed on Adam that they don't see the work that Eric does and the talent he has. Before anyone gets on at me Adam also has an amazing talent and can captivate an audience, I fully appreciate all the band members in there own individual way, I am just pointing out that Eric doesn't always get the credit he deserves.

I agree. But I think it's safe to say that maybe we can just move on? I bet it's even more embaressing for them because this thread is going on and on about some little thing that happened over a week ago. It's yesterday's news. Some guy yelled out "Warren." Adam has probably forgotten all about it now, really, so why can't we? I also don't think you're making this any easier for Anthony, I mean, the poor guy only yelled out "Warren". It's not like he pelted Adam with briefs and g-strings. You're making so much of a big deal about this, and it's really not. Maybe some of you people should find something better to do besides make some guy feel like crap. Oh! Here's an ida, possibly talk about something that has to do with the band's music? Eric, Adam, Mike, Ken, Jordan and Rick are all amazing entertainers, and I'm sure that none of them really care or take the time to cry over the fact that someone in the audience yelled "Warren." Please, let's just put this behind us. Imagine how bad you guys made Anthony feel about this, I mean really. He only got a little excited. Don't you all act like you're perfectionists.

If anyone is being rude it's everyone who is making a big deal out of Anthony chanting "Warren". How about from now on everyone speaks on his or her own behalf instead of inferring what he or she thinks Adam may feel. After four years of affiliation with Buffy, the guy's gonna be use to it. And his music and acting may be two separate things, but, if I'm not mistaking, the band plays Buffy gigs, which would connect the two whether some fans want to believe it or not. Get over it, move on. It's not like it was the end of Adam's world because someone recognised him from Buffy.
Well, I actually AM a perfectionist, but anyway...
The people coming in and "defending" Anthony are right and good, but you go on and on about getting over it and shutting up, yet you are the ones who continue on. Just thought I'd point that out, and now I will disappear from this thread like a thief in the night...

Well, really, it's people like you guys (not Regan or Jayden, nessecarily) that make other people lose their self confidence.I think people should be able to speak their minds without having to worry about stuff like this. This is why some people don't have fun. They're too sick and tired of people telling them off for doing their own thing, and saying what's on their mind, that they just don't do it anymore, and eventually, that will leave them out of a lot of things.

Re: Luther's Blues

I have no problem with anyone speaking his or her mind, unless he or she is cutting someone else down in doing so. I'm a firm believer in everyone having his or her own opinion. The catch is, you have to respect everyone's opinion as valid and not act as if your's (people in general) is the one true opinion.
How discouraging is it when someone posts on this board about his great experience seeing the band for the first time and people come out of no where making him feel bad for something he said. Whether or not it was wrong of him to say that is completely irrelevant. I highly doubt everyone cutting him down is innocent of not having done anything embarrassing at a show. So all I was saying is, since none of you are perfect, set the stones down and let the guy be.

Stuff
March 6 2004, 10:34 PM
Whoa, Whoa, Whoa
I am a friend of Anthony's and one of the two guys that went with Anthony to the Common Rotation concert 8 days ago. And I can't believe that you're all making such a huge bloody deal about this.
I am also a huge Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan and got into Common Rotation because of the show and because of Anthony buying the CD's off the website. Since I don't have a credit card, I couldn't order the CD's off of the internet, so I burned his copies of the Common Rotation CD's. Please don't go on a rampage that it's wrong to burn CD's, before you let me explain myself.
Anyway, I went to Luther's Blues and saw the greatest 40 minutes or so of live music in my life. This was finally my chance to get the CD's without the use of the credit card and bought all of the CD's they had there, which was 4. I supported local music. I also bought a Common Rotation shirt, but found out it was a girl's shirt as well. And then returned it. And since they only had the guy's shirt in small. I wasn't able to buy that, but I'll probably talk Anthony into buying it for me off the site and then I'll pay him for it.
If you're still reading this, congratulations. The point is this isn't a big deal at all. So one huge Buffy/Common Rotation fan yelled Warren a couple of times. Together Common Rotation has sold over $100 of merchandise between me and Anthony, plus their share of ticket prices from the show. And that should make up for 5 or so yellings of the name Warren.
So I beg of you all, let this post be the equivelant of the filleting of Warren Mears (truly inspirational) and let it end. Of course, in the future it will return in form of Warren/The First and tell Andrew to kill Jonathan to open up the Seal of Danzelthar, but that day is inevitable.
In the meantime let us all unite as fans of the greatest Folk/Country/Rock/Pop group on the planet that we call Earth, Common Rotation.
Thanks for reading and drive home safely,

I meant flaying of Warren Mears, not filleting of Warren Mears. Thanks to a correction by ANTHONY. How many times is that name posted in this topic? The answer, way too many.
The error on my part is due to a lack of sleep, thanks to my constant rocking/folking out to Common Rotation. And of course college and work.

P.S. I've read the Common Rotation is doing a 'Living Room Tour'. Let me know when the basement tour comes around, because mine would be perfect. Well actually I don't have a couch, which I heard they are big fans of, but I do have a couple of chairs.

some of you people ought to be ashamed. I don't think this is what Anthony expected his first common rotation experience to be like. And now you wonder why people post anonymously. You're being really hard on the guy, give it a rest. You're giving him the wrong impression of Common Rotation Fans. I know that if I were wandering the internet, insearch of something interesting, came across common rotation and saw this argument on the forum in a thread that is supposed to be reviewing what a spectacular night "Luther's Blues" was, I would NOT be impressed. Have a little respect, it's not up to you to decide how Adam reacted or what his feelings were about this. You're not Adam and you do not speak for him. He speaks for himself. Do any of you guys have the guts to go up to him at the next gig and tell him all of the things about Anthony that you posted here? Probably not.

Imagine how hard it must be for someone who got into cr not through buffy. To have to show up to shows and see people wearing tshirts they don't understand and shouting references that most people don't. It would certainly make me feel like this band is not for me. Only people in on the sci-fi racket. It's funny how it's only the Buffy fans that shout nonsense. People who got into cr through TMBG don't shout for Linnel or The Dans. People who got into cr from The Neilds don't shout for Nerissa and people who got into cr through Danny Wood or the Yardbirds certainly don't shout for NKOTB tunes or "For Your Love." It makes you buffy fans seem like an elitist crowd unable to see things out of any context but your own. Shouting buffy things to a performer while singing folk tunes is immature, rude and most of all shameful. Shut up and enjoy the music. Celebrate the band and yourselves not a canceled sci-fi show or anything other then the moment at hand. Show some respect for godsakes. Don't do it. People won't write about it and the music will be back in the forefront of these forums.
Umm...excuse me? It's not exactly fair to categorize all Buffy fans into that category. You're not better because you got into the band through another band, and other got into them because of Buffy.
I'm one of the biggest CR fans you will see. I go to almost every show on the East coast, have every bit of merchandise, every CD, am an active Street Team member, etc..and I know Adam from Buffy. It doesn't mean I show up wearing Buffy shirts and calling Adam "Warren". In fact, as much as I love Adam, I've always preferred Eric.

someone screamed "Warren" ... okay wasn't that good but it won't happen again (hopefully). Do we really have to disscuss this over and over again?
And I think it's pretty lame to talk about who the "biggest" fan is or how we became fans.

I completely agree with the Anon that posted a response saying that Buffy fans are the only ones who show up to "Common Rotation" shows with pictures of Adam,Danny and Tom or Amber Benson to be signed along with their CR merch purchases. They wear their Buffy shirts and some boys(you know who they are) dress like James Marsters. This is perfectly suitable for a sci-fi convention that the band performs at but probably makes any audience member, seeing the band for the first time, feel uneasy.
Regan(or anyone else that is tempted to object at this point)- this is not a reference to those Buffy or Sci-fi fans who have a sense of restraint and composure in the face of pseudo-celebrities. My compliments to those who act appropriately.
I've been a fan of this band for a very long time(before Shelby Woo, before Buffy, before They Might Be Giants, before The Nields, before the boys could even sing in tune) This doesn't make me feel any more important than anyone on this forum. In fact I enjoy reading this stuff because it makes me happy to see that people take this much interest in the band.
Yes I'm a friend as much as I am a fan and all I can say is that the guys love all the fans equally but feel that Adams time on a popular cult tv show has been a blessing and sometimes a curse. Adam doesn't want his band members feeling that what they do on stage is only appreciated by certain people because of his connection to Buffy. This is understandable. Eric, Jordan and Ken have all been making music with him since highschool and people cheapen the magnitude of this special relationship by focusing on a character that Adam played on television. No die hard of fans of Rainbow Trout show up and scream anything about Jordan when he plays with CR.
Anthony, know that the band appreciates you. Everyone(including Anthony) Know that the band would appreciate not hearing references to Buffy the Vampire Slayer shouted at the stage in any venue.
Trust that I'm your friend.
