Favourite Gigs

It's time to get away form the pointless discussions that have been going on in this forum and start to talk about the important stuff.

I think we should all share our most memorable CR gigs with each other, fans old and new. Where was it? What happened to make it so memorable? etc

For me it has to be The Whiskey gig last Feb, it was the first time I had ever seen the band. I was talked into going by a friend and I am so glad, not only was it the first time I had heard them but it was also special for the guys, there LA cd release party for The Big Fear. I don't fully remember the night(one word- bar) but I do remember the atmosphere and it was buzzing. I would elaborate more but I don't have the time, so come on share all those memories with your fellow fans.

Belfast

March 7 2004, 4:29 PM

I've really enjoyed the two times Adam and Eric have played in the Hard Rock Cafe in Belfast here in Ireland, they were amazing concerts. At the first concert, they sang U2's 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday' which was amazing, everyone sang along so there was a great atmosphere,I was only a new fan, I had only heard about them the day before, so it was my first Common Rotation concert and I was not disappointed!! The second concert was amazing, more people were there, and the guys seemed more relaxed and the lovely Matt was there, so it was great to see them all, and at this concert Adam and Eric sang Belfast, which was great, everyone was amazed that they had wrote a song about here!!!! It was such a relaxed night and the guys were so funny!! I hadn't heard many of their songs from 'The Big Fear' so it was great to hear 'Offstage Lines', 'Princess of Venice'ect!!! They have to come back soon, I've promised alot of people that I'll bring them to the next gig!!

hhm.. good question, but I'm not sure how to answere it. I "only" saw the play three times, but all three gigs have been speciall.

The first one, because it was the first time ever, I saw them play. It was in London at the south con and I remeber that Eric had asked us if there is a speciall song that we would like to hear. I yelled "Oklahoma" and Eric and Adam played the slow version with singing "London girls" instead of "california girls"

the second gig was great, because I had a few friens with me (at the Harvest Con)

and the third gig was great because it was the first time that I saw the complete Band play. And I made a happydance when I saw that Rick was there as well. hehe.. it was so much fun. Adam scared me to death when he looked straight into my eyes. Some guy in the background counting for the boys. Mike started to sing the first line of a song, because Eric and Adam didn't. Chatting with Rick and Adam after the gig. LOL, and I still have Erics "who's grapped my butt" in my ears.

@ Eric
it was me

Too many to say...

March 8 2004, 1:36 AM

I've been to SO many shows it's very hard to say which have been my favorite. I always enjoy the shows they play at the Hotel Cafe in LA because that place is the greatest. It's pretty intimate there and it's always nice to be able to see the guys in that kind of setting. I also enjoy the shows at larger venues like The Whisky in LA. The energy is always awesome with bigger crowds like that. Then there was the show in NY in April 2003 at the Bitter End which was an experience since it was my first time visiting the city and seeing CR perform there so it holds some great memories. There's nothing like staying up until 7 am having fun with some great people. I also like the shows where I don't have to travel so far to see them so when they played in SF in April 2003 it was great because I was able to bring my sister and Mom and a few friends along and it was great to be able to finally introduce them to the music in person. Another memorable one was in 2002 when they had a show on Adam's Birthday and Eric had us all join in and surprise Adam by singing Happy Birthday which was awesome. The Universal Citywalk show in Aug. 2002 was cool because at it I met some people and saw some people there who are now some of my best friends. Plus the night after it was crazy so it'll always stick out in my memory.

Anyways all this rambling on means that pretty much every show I go to has some kind of great memory attached that makes it one of my favorites. It's hard to say which I'd pick above all the rest.

fav CoRo moment

March 10 2004, 12:47 PM

I've been to three CoRo gigs and can't decide.

First one was at the 14Below, October 2002. We just happened to be at the same place at the same time I had never heard their music before but was instantly converted. The discovery excitation, the "love slap", the revelation... This is a great feeling but I'm still not sure it makes the gig the best.

Next time was at the Harvest, an Adam&Eric moment. I think they did 'Burgandy' so of course it was great but.... I felt I needed them all.

So, third time, a few days later, London. Full band, plus Rick. I had'nt drink any alcohol but felt the same way, without the memory loss syndrom. In terms of energy, atmosphere and unbelivable moments, I'd say it's my favorite show.
All details are in my "holidays diary" but guess what? You won't have them :-p :D

August 24, 2002 (CityWalk) - Very first CR show, so there's that initial joy and excitement thing, plus I got all the guys' autographs and spent considerable time chatting with them. Also took a picture (which didn't come out) but that was fun.

November 26, 2002 (AlterKnit Lounge) - Possibly my most favorite. Second show, but felt like the first. They played with Rosey, who I am/was a huge fan of. The crowd was small and the atmosphere intimate. And all the songs sounded great. The first show they ever played "Baby Go Down" (still think of it by that title) and "Everything Under the Sun" (I looooooove that song). Also they did acoustic Oklahoma and there was plenty of hilarious improv type shtuff. Very funny. Also, spent lots of time talking to Adam and got a great picture. Plus he sat at my feet and sang along with me during Rosey's set! Oh, and finally, I looked really great that night! haha

April 29, 2003 (AlterKnit Lounge) - Day after my birthday show. Adam said Happy Birthday to me in the middle of "Answering Machine." Otherwise it was kind of a weird and uncomfortable show...

July 21, 2003 (House of Blues Boston) - I got to hang out before this show for a while, and I met Wendy who was really sweet. Plus making fun of Danny Wood with Jordan was the bestest. hehe Jesus shirt...

October 3, 2003 (Hotel Cafe) - Really great show (suits!!) with a great crowd. I hung around with the guys for a while and got to finally see Rosey again which was nice. Plus Briel and I went together. Yay!

November 28, 2003 (Hotel Cafe) - Nice little super intimate show. Good set. Had a nice conversation with Jordan. (so many happy faces)

February 15, 2004 (Living Room show, Marshfield, MA) - Living room show! Yay! It was such a casual, comfortable show and there were many funny moments. Also the people were great. Sydney was really sweet and I got to see Wendy again, which was cool. Plus Adam dedicated "True Hollywood Romance" to me and my dad! Made the weekend trip to good ol' Mass very worthwhile. Plus Emerson was cool. haha

The end! Hopefully the April show at the Hotel will be just as good as these!
