It's a long way to Japan, but our CRUM knows no boundaries ...

Dana  (Login roniabirk)

I may be a sentimental fool - which would be news to me as much as the next person - but I want to dedicate the new UM thread to our friend D. She's leaving the States today for something new and exciting - not to mention far, far away - so it seems appropriate that the (new and exciting) CRUM thread go hand in hand with her departure.

Though we may be separated by land and the big friggin' ocean - we will always have CRUM. That goes for all of you!

...

...

Man, when did I become such a girl? No offense to the girls in the forum. Honest.

Haven't heard the new UM,

May 20 2004, 11:14 PM

and in fact never burned the UM CDs (so, see, B?! you should send 'em along!), but I did want to say that if y'all want to see pictures of Japan, mine are here. Nothing special so far, but that'll change soon.

cheers!

Ooh I liked this one! I'm glad it's back. I like the little melody tweaks he made. Hopefully this'll be on the solo album! Oh, and does anyone else miss the first few UM songs, like, say, "Means of Survival"? I loved that one, both versions. I hope it's resurrected soon.

It's on there, too.

The UMs have been getting posted @ 5pm my time, which is 6pm board time. Seems about the same to me, but I don't know that it's a set time or just random.

I just downloaded what I thought would be yesterday's UM (since it's still pretty early for when we usually get a new one) but instead I got another version of Given Signs. So I guess that would be today's?

Thanks to Briel for sending along the two missing songs for the CRUM Archive site. Silly holiday weekends making me miss DL'ing them.

P.S. Any features you guys would like to see on that site? It's pretty simplistic and serves a purpose, but part of me screams that it should do more. What do you think?

font stuff

June 2 2004, 9:41 AM

To make fonts smaller, you have to use < font size = " -2 " > because the normal < small > doesn't work on this forum. (Except, remove the spaces and use preview just in case.) There are a handful of HTML tags that work, and if I dug around on the main network54 site, I imagine I would find them, but trial and error is so much fun, right?

Thanks for updating the list, Briel. *copy ... paste*

Woah, I'm never the person who finds the UM first. I usually get it at 6am the next morning, then come here to see what was said about it.

Nift-ay.

An amazing version of Indie Rockin', featuring Jordan on trumpet, I presume, which I am totally grooving to over here, and making everyone look at me funny.

I try accessing the backup files on your site only to be informed no such file exists. I'm contemplating leaping off the building if this persists. No lovin' from the Union Maid! Clapping...well, there's obviously True Hollywood Romance, and then there's Belfast, where he sometimes claps during the bridge part. I think that's it.

(The Original) D - You are way too silly. If you were going to www.crum.onthedial.com, yes it will break because that is not the true path. I need to see if I can redirect or break that page or something. Just go to crum.onthedial.com and have some good lovin' - I wonder if you can incorporate music in teaching one day? That would be very fun.

Okay, off to see what song I get today. Had a long weekend, so I might have missed some...

A little anecdote

June 17 2004, 10:44 PM

After 5pm at my office, many of my coworkers leave for the day and only a few stragglers come in looking for their pay. So today, I decided to turn up the volume on my comp and play the "You Don't Know Me" Union Maid while I finished up my work. A few moments later, I looked up from my reports and saw my remaining coworkers and a straggler gathered around my office door listening to the song. When it was over they stood there speechless for a moment then began asking who was playing and complementing them. The words "beautiful", "impressive" and "moving" were used often. (I should bring up the fact that one of them is the wife of a music critic/teacher) I was more than happy to tell them about Common Rotation and that I have all their CDs should they want to hear more of these talented young men.

It was just a surreal moment to suddenly see a group of people just standing outside my door listening intently.

Common Rotation, a most alluring band!

Peace Love and Cheese

I posted a little note at the top of the CRUM page (which is where I post if a file is needed) because I will be offline for the next week. Soooo, if any new songs are posted on the CR site, I won't be able to snag them. The FTP is there if anyone feels like uploading, or there's always email. Just letting you guys know ahead of time since usually I can get each day, but sometimes I can't, and this is a definite time that I won't be able to.

P.S. Thank you to Briel for sending in a couple of the songs I miss over the weekends.

Regarding sound effects: Did you think of Ross straight away too? Or am I the only one who watched Friends back then?

aaaah!

June 20 2004, 6:53 AM

My love of Union Maid is immense, but not as immense as my love for She Who Provides Sour Straws Via Global Express Mail. Dana, Dana, Dana, you are my hero, and my knight in shining armor, and I would literally sing your praise if only it wouldn't make your ears bleed! <3 <3 <3

Oh, should I be a little more direct in my link to the Union Maid? I really like the sound of the new one, but my computer's sound's not great (even with these stupid speakers) and I can't make out any of the words.

Hmm

June 20 2004, 10:42 PM

That was an odd sampling. And listening to it I was reminded of something more odd - the fact that I dreamed last night of just going through an LA day's routine, except Ken was keeping me company. Nothin' doing, just a day of chillin'. Very, very odd. I very seldom dream of people I know, people who actually exist where waking worlds collide, unless they're my family. Also, my dreams normally involve flying, Israeli drug dealers, zombies and the like, so when I have a "normal" dream it kinda weirds me out. :p

Happy Birthday Eric

21June04 A birthday song to himself! I was kind of hoping we'd have Adam and Jordan singing to Eric.

Peace Love and Cheese
