Hey - I notice that people are always begging for CR to come to their neck of the woods. I am sure that the boys would love to go everywhere -- but traveling all over the place is really expensive! These guys work hard and do as much as they can on their own, traveling in vans and running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
Perhaps we can start a "Common Rotation Global Tour" fund.
Sure we know the guys can't always get here because of money but we are just trying to show that if they can manage it they are more than welcome, we do appreciate them!

@Art
I'm quite aware that money is the big issue here, flights from the US to Europe are rather expensive (tell me about it :-/ ). I really hope this campaign doesn't come across as demanding. At least from my part (and I'm pretty sure from the others as well) it's about feedback and showing the guys that they would be more than welcome.
Perhaps we can start a "Common Rotation Global Tour" fund.
I know you might have meant this as a joke, but actually I find this idea not too stupid...
I don't know about the others but I would be willing to put my money where my mouth is and cash in. It would always be less expensive than flying to the US myself.
PS. And I won't comment on calling Europe "neck of the woods".

Hey Trulla - actually, I was dead serious about the fund! It would have to be overseen by Matt or someone appointed by CR, but its a nice idea.
I am also extremely aware that fans invest a great deal just by attending shows, purchasing merchandise, working as a member of the street team, websites, etc. - and of course, it is evident that the band is very grateful for that support!
I think that if a fund of this nature were started by the fans it would be a really nice gesture of our support. I don't think it has anything to do with the amount of money that we raise -- its just the thought that counts!!! [Even if it were just a jar for loose change at the merchandise table, it would probably help a little!] Every day or two I get a brand new Union Maid song - it would be nice to give something back for all the rough days that were instantly fixed by those downloads! I think we all agree that they are talented, and its our energy and efforts that help to keep CR going.
I also hope that my original post didn't come across as trying to slam the Europe campaign! That certainly wasn't my intent at all!!!! I think it's awesome that CR fans take the time to make icons and organize to show their support! It's such good stuff and I love it -- I am sure CR does too.
I'm gonna put these icons right now on the homepage of my website.
It's funny, I was thinking just before coming here that the Harvest/Scala anniversary was more than 2 weeks ago... More than one year ago, I was at a CoRo show...

If this is really a serious idea, why not start a donation website through Pay Pal? This way, the guys could perform in as many countries in the EU as they possibly can and in return the guys should document their European travels, either on this board or as a Vol. 2 to their Livingroom DVD.

Great idea !!!
But it would be nice to get a statement on that of Matt first, to let us know that they're interrested. A friend of me told me that she did send Matt a mail because she wanted to organise something, but she also said that Matt didn't replied .. so she picked someone else for her event!
That makes me wonder a bit

I'll gladly back the campaign to see the guys at the Scala again. I'm not sure my 10 quid will get them very far though, maybe a taxi to the airport? Well that's a start I guess.
I said I was organised at this interview so let's show it's the case...
July 10 2004, 5:55 PM
Well, I guess we'll find for them places to stay. My flat wouldn't be comfortable enough, but my parents have a house. And I'd be glad to cook .
Also, if they're not sure about non-English speaking audiences, we're working of translations of some of the songs into French. Now we just have to find lyrics that actually fit the music...
(we = Elisa, French student in the Wales, and I...)
:-D
... just dreaming ...

How have I missed this thread so far?
I think all of these ideas are amazing, especially now that Hush has been postponed and the guys won't be coming over on that ticket. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but waiting till May 2005 or whenever it's been postponed until doesn't sound good to me. It's over a year since they were in Belfast! So count me in on all of the above - fund, finding places to stay, and of course, LR shows.
Before we jump the gun and start anything involving finances, Matt and the band would have to give the go-ahead. There may be legal issues that we are not aware of, and I don't feel comfortable raising money for Common Rotation until they have given us permission to use their name and image to do so.
Otherwise, I would be happy to help with this initiative. It would be a challenge, and I dig that.

Yes you're right we shouldn't do anything without Matt's approval. I thought the raising money part was just a joke, but if we're serious I could go to £11.50 no sweat. I don't think we'll get enough for the whole band, maybe enough for Eric & we can smuggle Adam in, inside a double base case.

LOL I'm just interested to see how much money could be raised. Maybe enough to buy a round trip ticket for three of them to Paris? Or enough to have them play at the nearest International House of Pancakes?
Matt : before we're completely crazy about that, tell us something about money raising...

I've also came up with a few ideas how to raise money apart from 'simple' donations, but yeah, Matt should definately give it a go before anything regarding money comes in.

Hey, it isn't about the amount of money raised. It's the gesture that is significant. CR hasn't sold out, and I would like to support their efforts.
OT: can't remember the last time that I ate a pancake. That's sad. Pancakes are good.
I know it's selfish, because of where I'm actually living (London), but wouldn't London be a better choice because it's the city with the most plane connections to anywhere?

It appears that Adam, Tom, and Danny have all been announced on their forum, but I also don't see them listed on the website yet. Although they only got announced yesterday.
As far as tickets go, from what I can tell Collectormania doesn't "sell" tickets. It's a free admission according to their site, you go and pay individually for autographs.

The Collectormania forums are the most up to date. The website gets updated a few days after any announcements have been made on the forums.

There is to be a party Saturady night at Collectormania. That's the tickets I'm talking about. Sorry I wasn't clearer in my post.
But with Adam coming, the likelihood of a ComRo trip just doubled, I think (I hope, anyway!!)
Anyone else going to Collectormania? I think I might be. Could be fun.
Also, means they'll be in Europe. Hurrah!

Yes, there is a party...
August 17 2004, 5:49 AM
CoRo are scheduled to appear there, and I've just gotten my tickets!
It took me 3 days of frantic e-mailing and phoning and going quietly mad not getting anywhere, until this morning when they were finally off the ansaphone and willing to take my order. Tickets are still available, but they're going fast, the guy said, so get calling on +44 1234 752 485 to get yours!
