Can anyone can go to these? I'm confused. If they really are in someone's living room, they might object to a load of strangers coming to their house!

I'm sure what happens is when people request seats at a LR, it is then forwarded to the host for approval. It is someone's home and the guys have proven to be very professional and respectful of that. They wouldn't do anything without prior permission from the host. But it is also still a show afterall, so the band would appreciate as big an audience the host can accommodate.
Should the audience ever get out of hand though, I've been told that the guys are also well trained martial artists who are capable of using their instruments as deadly weapons.

The boys are getting a little upset with the fact that this question keeps coming up. No harm directed at anyone asking it. It's simply that this has been explained in countless e-mails.
Livingroom shows no matter domestic or abroad are open to the public. If you need directions to a show e-mail livingroom@commonrotation.com. You will be put on a list but this isn't required. All you have to do is come to the show at the specified time and donate anywhere from 10 to 20 quid.
The hosts of any of these shows understand it is not a private party for them and their friends. It is a real show that is open to the public.
Do remember in school when people would throw house parties and you'd kick in some bread at the door for the keg. It's just like that except the beer is Common Ro. You don't need an invite. BYOB

If this is true, may I suggest posting the guidelines on the main page of this website? When I click on the living room tour dates, it still says "for reservations please contact...". That and not publicizing the addresses of the LR gigs makes me believe that it is not entirely an open invitation.

Before I went to a LR gig it all seemed a bit strange and I couldn't help but think of all the possible problems. However after going to one in California, it all makes perfect sense! We registered and were emailed the time, address and directions. The people hosting it had invited their family, friends and neighbours. The other people there had seen the band previously I think. Most of us had been to the Buffy convention just before that.
When you think about it, the only people who will know about these shows either know the host or are fans already, pretty much. All the fans I've met are great people!
Thing is, being in the UK, I have not really taken any notice of any of the Living Room threads before, because they only applied to the US (and so I wouldn't have been able to go!), so I wouldn't have seen any previous emails concerning the reservations situation. That's why I asked this time.
Kat, I will leave you to indulge in Belfast without me, as last time!
Cheers

Don't feel bad for asking a question. CR has had quite the tour this summer and have been picking up many new fans along the way. Whether or not the band is frustrated with constantly answering the same question, it's not being asked by the same people. If there were actual instructions posted on the website, other than "email the Living Room address", then we wouldn't see the question repeated. And I'm sure it would be much easier for the respondent of the LR email as well.
Also, I don't believe it was this way in the beginning. Addresses of the hosts were not publicized and the shows were not necessarily "open to the public". But at the Oakland Vulkon convention, fliers of their west coast LR tour were being handed out with all the addresses printed on them.

FAVOR

I have a favor to ask the CR guys...
While you're in Scotland sampling the cuisine, would you find out what is brown sauce? I'm really curious. And I think you'll be curious too when you get there.

And why's it called brown? Me and my friends have been having this debate for years. Surely ketchup should be called red sauce, but no, it's tomato ketchup, and you've got bbq... then just plain old brown. What's with that? (Don't just say 'it's brown' :P)

Brown sauce.. it IS brown! (it's not like gravy though - more like Steak Sauce) And Ketchup is different from Tomato Sauce - it's sweeter and spicier.
anyway just thought i'd say i'm planning on going to the glasgow living room gig. i emailed a couple of days ago for my reservation!!!! hope i'll see some of you there!!!

Jo Ann I wish you hadn't asked that now it's annoying me, what is Brown sauce? I don't like it so I don't have a bottle in the house to look at I'm going to nab a sachet when I am at work tommorrow and have a look.
Okay, now I'm wondering: what is Soylent Green and why is it purple, not green??

Soylent Green is PEOPLE, not purple.
It's a 1973 movie starring Charlton Heston. Watch it, it's scary!

My ex-boyfriend used to say, "Baby, your train of thought has no tracks."
So, back to the topic at hand, Common Rotation in Scotland.
I wonder if the guys will wear kilts.
