Top Online Requests

Matt  (no login)

Eric is currently taking your top five requests from any official Common Rotation release or any Union Maid Recording to be played at his show on Monday June 20th at the Broadway Beanery. Everyone has one vote for their top five. Please spread the word that this is the place to post your requests. Eric will only be counting posts made before Saturday June 18th so get yours up soon... and remember the best way to hear the songs you've chosen is to actually attend the show. Don't miss this one because... well, just because.

Hehehehehe The wheels are turning!

Since we get only one vote for top five, I need to seriously contemplate my choices and not waste my vote.

Five? I can only vote for 5? In the thread about this show, I have 18 requests! You can make a whole show with just the songs I want. And those were just off the top of my head. I hadn't even gone back to the UM list to make even more requests. Ah, well. I'll just have to really listen to them again and whittle it down.

You know, you could interpret this as just a request for songs. Then Eric would pick the top 5 vote getters.

But, I won't be greedy. Only five...

Even if people post as anon the guys can check the IP addresses to make sure people don't vote more than once.

Man, only 5? That's hard. I guess I'll just go with whatever comes to me first. Here goes...

1 Dancer
2 Another Day Older
3 Lonesome Traveler
4 Means of Survival
5 Given Signs

and so many more... LOL

Re: Top Online Requests

Sigh, I'm still thinking!

Some of the songs I really love are because I love how Adam and Eric harmonize. I'm trying to think which ones I want just Eric to sing. Not that he can't sing them all, of course. Just which ones I think are best with just his voice.

Re: Top Online Requests

June 14 2005, 6:06 PM

Ok. I’ve finally made my choices. It was pretty hard, too. I could have gone with my head, picking some of the ones that already have votes like Given Sings or Normal Sea/Lesson Learned. Or the song I keep nagging them to play, Near Miss. But I’ve heard a lot of these at live performances and on their CDs. Or like in the case of Near Miss, I love the Adam/Eric version. I went with my heart instead. They won’t win, but maybe Eric will revisit them and rotate them into the lineup.

And you know I have to talk about them...

1. Master of My Domain (05.15.2003 UM). A story told in song. Lovely guitar work. And they say the neon lights are bright on Broadway.
2. Still (03.25.2005 UM). I don’t know all the words to this song. But I love the poetry of what I do know. One of those songs where you’re first swept up in the rhythm of the music. Then you hear the words and realize it’s so much more than the music. But it always is.
3. Let Me Come Home (05.20.2005 UM). I love the visual imagery and the quiet longing.
4. Hell (Help?) is on the Way (12.12.2004 UM). So I can find out if the word is Hell or Help. Just kidding. Actually, it’s another story telling song with great music.
5. House in Order / That’s an Order (05.29.2005 UM). Very pretty musically. Complicated words. Eric could go on all night with this.

Close runner ups
~ Uncle Saroyan’s Time of Your Life. I like the Adam/Eric version.
~ Gone Away (01.11.2005 UM). Wonderful words.
~ Absolutely Rough / Way Too Much. Eric played around with this song a lot last year. I liked the 5.14.2004 one musically.
~ Clear Skies / Baby Don’t Worry. (04.14.2005 UM). But I want a piano for this.
~ I’m Back. (05.11.2005 UM). It just sounds good.

I may have thought too much about this.

I've been thinking a lot about this, so here it is:

1. Need not Know
2. Master of My Domain
3. Devil's Bargain
4. Live in Five (if possible solo)
5. Auctioneer

I love everyone else's choices too, so can't wait to hear what Eric plays!

Interesting votes for Oklahoma. I think of Oklahoma as an Adam song. Might be interesting to hear just Eric sing it. Slow or fast version?
