sharing my friend's report from last night - because she says I can and because I love to read about what goes on - and I KNOW I'm not the only one :D

They started with a song I didn't know (the word "round" appeared a lot, and it ended in a repetitive sort of round) [good enough description there for easy recognition of Rounded, i think !] and sequed into "Everything Under the Sun", I believe. I didn't get a set list, but took a pic of one, and you know it will probably get posted. Anyway, I thought that first song was a bit slow for a start, and it felt a bit "off", but soon got into stride, and the guys seemed to be in good form: a few smiles at one another, Eric really giving it his all, Adam doing good banter in-between, and Jordan getting a lot of horn and banjo time, especially banjo. The cutest moments involved a little girl of about 6 to 8 years of age, near the front. Adam went into a spiel about how the band spends so much time together, and they rarely get any privacy - except at one specific time.... .... And that's what the next song is about, he said - and then turned politely to the little girl and said "It means "chewing"". giggle And launched into "Let Me Die With My Trumpet In My Hand" Then when they did the song with the glockenspiel, Adam saw that the little girl recognized the toy instrument and was watching intently, so it turned it sideways and showed it to her. He had it on a chair seat and was down at her level only a few feet away. It was cute to watch. They also recorded the show and sold CD's of it a half hour later. They also sold songbooks, and those were hot items. Also, I asked Jordan if he'd heard "Illinoise" by Sufjan Stevens and he said that he had, and it was brilliant - and had lots of trumpet and banjo. I said that's why I'd asked - the trumpet parts reminded me of him.

Enough! I won't get to the photos until this weekend, but I know I have some good ones. YAY CORO!!!!!!!

:D second time around for a CD of the show at that venue. UnCommon Ground must have excellent acoustics? or a secret CD-making factory in the basement! wonder if there'll be any left for other shows. You bring .. we buy! (in that ... I'll be begging for someone else to buy for me!)

I thought one of the funniest moments came after Adam's 'chewing' comment. Eric started playing the beginning of 'Trumpet' but then he stopped and pointed out that the cup holders attached to his microphone stand would be a good place to hold some nuts (as well as his water). Adam looked at him and said "So, put 'em up there. It will fit right in with the song."

The Trumpet song is in the new songbook. Uh, I'm going to be reading the lyrics now in a whole new light. What was Adam really thinking about when he wrote it? Naughty boy!

But, really, the lyrics are so not like that!

I have to wonder about Eric's medical condition if he requires nut holders while on stage.

Great shots of the glock and Adam kneeling in front of it. At least the glock was standing still, so it's not blurry. Unlike Adam, who's almost always in motion. There's a reason why there are so many photos of Adam playing his harmonica. It's practically the only time he stands relatively still! Oh, I guess he did stand still since you got some photos of his shoes. Must have been during a quiet song when Eric was singing.

I haven't seen the accordian for a while. And that's a nice photo of Jordan's banjo and Eric's guitar.

Thanks for sharing.

So, Shelly, if your arm is in one of the photos, how about sharing your thoughts about the show? Always nice to hear everyone's impressions.

Howdy, I have some kinda blurry pictures from Tuesday's show. The photos aren't that great but I got 2 pretty nice videos (Let Her Go and Clear Channel)--they're the last two items there. Hope you like.

Yep, FLOWERS!

Thanks so much for the pics and clips I fear I will have to wait for works la de da broadband tomorrow: )

I think we are all in agreement when we say the first rule of eric's pink flower shirt is to not talk about eric's pink flower shirt.

Re: Chicago, tonight, anyone?

I had an amazing time, as always. Thanks to the girls who let me and my friend sit at the table with them. I would stand for 3 years to see Common Rotation. 4 years though, is where I draw the line. But the seat was greatly appreciated... so I hope you are reading this.

I got a few pictures... I just got done with a huge day of work so I dont have enough strength to resize them and post them now... but they will be here soon enough. Just about 6 pics or so.

Talking to the guys and buying their merch was as fun as always. The comedy inbetween the songs was top notch. And whoever purchased the copy of that show has a piece of Anthony as well... since I shouted out "WOOOOO!" after Adam mentioned the lyric books, and I shouted out "DO IT AGAIN!" after the boys got very rageful on stage and started to tear the coffeehouse down, of course right before they apologized deeply and said they would just play their folk songs.

Okay, good times.

Later.

Anthony

What's with you people dissing Eric's shirt? Remember the flowered one he wore last year? I like 'em. They're very folk.

Re: Chicago, tonight, anyone?

I don’t know what you mean watcher (tries to look innocent and fails) I was merely pointing out that Eric now has two *shirts of righteous folk* and that this one appears to be PINK.

I remember the first *SORF* very well indeed, in fact my live journal home page pays homage to that very *flowery* piece of clothing.

Back to the music now though, can anyone tell us what the last song on the set list titled *HELP* please.
Thank you so much to everyone who has reported back so far, it lovely to wake up and find new reportage on this site: )

The last song, the one they did unplugged, was "Help Save the Youth of America"--it's by Billy Bragg. Sounded great, even though Eric forgot the words at one point.

Sorry, bree. When you said not to talk about Eric's shirt, I thought you meant you didn't like it, not that it's such an appropriate shirt that it didn't need to be mentioned.

Did the band sing Satan is Real before Satan No? That's what they normally do. Maybe that's what the period means? Usually Adam puts in ">".

My thoughts on the show...I don't really have much to add, content wise. I think everyone else pretty much covered the events of the evening. Oh, except that it was my husband who objected to the nuts in the cup holder. I thought it was an incredible show. They sounded fabulous and it was nice to see them again since it's been almost 2 years since my LR show. I'm also glad I was able to say a quick hello to all three of the guys before rushing home to rescue the babysitter. I really hope they come back again soon. And I hope Eric enjoys his Cracker Jack.

One more thing...whoever posted that last set of pictures, you were apparently sitting right behind me.

Hi! I've never been to a CORO concert, personally, but I know
how to eliminate the chance of blur on the pix. I think there's
some kind of "shudder" function on certain digital cams these
days that will allow you to take a bunch of pix at once. Not
only that, but on my own camera, there's the option to set it
to "motion" so that you can actually capture moving objects as
stills without the blur. It works beautifully.

I just use my camcorder for cases like that. Then, when I get
the pix home, I screen cap the ones I like.

I also wanted to thank the person who posted those pix and movies!!
They were fun to watch! By any chance, can you post anymore? I'd love
to see them perform the "Trumpet" song. ~DJ
