Also I think it might just be Eric with a little help from Adam on some songs. Not positive but pretty sure. |

Hi Briel
I am in Santa Monica from Tuesday 5th, I arrive in the evening until Friday lunchtime, so it's not the best timing for gigs really, but never mind hey!
Any ideas will be gratefully recieved: ) |

Okay, I was mistaken. It is all the guys, minus Jordan. So if you come to Room 5 Friday you'll see Eric, Adam, Ken, and Ryan! Yay for all! |

Really great show. Lineup was Eric, Adam and Ryan Raddatz on mandolin and keyboards (no Ken Beck and no Jordan Katz). They sang a new song that they introduced as a number that hadn't been done live previously, though it's on the Union Maid (don't know the title). They also performed "Let Me Die With My Trumpet in My Hand" -- I had never heard the story of the song's origins before -- in his intro, Adam said this came from an incident where Jordan got hit by a car while the band was in England. Jordan turned out to be okay, but while he was lying dazed on the pavement, he said what turned into the song title and refrain. Show started with "Gone Dyin'" and ended with the off-mike cover of Bob Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere." For once, this was in a room with acoustics that allowed for a perfectly good, loud off-mike song. They also sang "Afterthoughts," which I haven't heard in awhile, "92 Mics," "How to Lose" (but no "Auctioneer" this set), "Satan, No," and ... somebody got a set list? It was an attentive audience, and the band seemed to be having a really good time -- and I think Ryan Raddatz is a great addition to the mix.

Thanks for the report. Hope someone snagged a set list and posts it.

Could you give us a hint? Any words that you remember? |

No one else seemed interested in the set lists so I grabbed one to post. Here is Eric's
The actual order that they sang the songs in was:
Gone Dyin'
92 Mics
Trumpet
How To Lose
Around
Afterthought
Diffinitive Biography
Normal Sea (Lesson Learned)
Satan No
Wasted Words
You Ain't Goin' Nowhere
Before they sang Trumpet Adam told a story about how when he was younger he went to a summer camp and for the group photo he pulled his **** out and no one noticed until the photographs were developed. His parents worked for the camp and they all got called in to talk to the camp owners. While his parents were in the meeting Adam prayed to god and tried to figure out how he would explain and what he would say. He didn't end up with the opportunity to say anything though since his parents got fired. He said that "Trumpet" describes what he would have said. After they sang the song he told the story of Jordan getting hit by the car and how the song came to be. I think he then said that only one of the stories was true. Who knows with Adam!
It was a good show though it was a smallish crowd. Great to see the guys again before they head off on tour again. |
