Without a doubt, the best show of the tour. LEGEND !
I thought it was almost impossible to pick out a favourite night this time around...to answer the "which show did you enjoy best?" question ... but I reckon Glasgow indeed takes the prize! G2 is a fantastic venue, the support were great. the audience was full, the set was longer than a Saturday night in Glasgow usually allows: I love Biography and it was so cool to hear Hero's Dying live.
Not that all performances/sets weren't equally as awesome - I am perfectly capable of stripping the thesaurus bare of all entries under 'wonderful' but guys, if you expect to come over here, play and sing like that and not be praised to the highest and thanked from the bottomest? of hearts. Think again. Seriously.
Thank you tour buddies one and all!! Had such a blast. It's not big or clever doing all the dates we are lucky to get - but it's so much fun Hope we get to do it all again.
And listen up Common Rotation - you. are. amazing. This is no glib compliment and it is given on a no return, no refund basis and you have to take it home.

Thanks for the audio's Jess... your a star: )
I expect the time has come to write up the Glasgow gig. I don’t really want to start writing because then it sort of means that it really is all over for this year and we haven’t got any shiny dates for our diary’s for next year yet which makes me sad : (
However I will write about Glasgow because I want to hold on to these gigs, squeeze them hard and re-visit then from time to time. So here goes the third and last write up from the UK common Rotation tour 2006……. *sobs quietly to self*
Best we start back in Belfast then!
Soon and before too long the morning rolled around and we had all arranged to meet up for breakfast at 8am.
I tried once more to access my e-mails ‘Good morning internet are you going to be nice to me this morning?’ Well in hindsight I think the Internet was trying to be nice by saying my e-mail address was inappropriate, but at the time, it caused much finger tapping, possible swearing and frustration!
I had arranged to meet up with every one at eight and soon Tori showed up followed swiftly by Jules and Gamiila and breakfast was found , oh orange juice and toast ….
*Feeds slices of bread into the toaster*
*Toaster spits them out again!*
“NO! I said toast, not slightly warm bread”
The whole e-mail and other things frustration might just have been taken out on the toaster *sorry toaster*
More people added slices of bread; it was a strange toasting device, which apparently had an aversion to actually toasting anything.
I juggled with loads of slices of bread reinserting them into the machine.
I had a mission now and that made me happy, I would get TOAST if it was the last thing I did and at this rate it might just be.
Jules now wanted toast and deftly put two slices of bread in the machine, then all hell broke lose the bread had made it in safely and yet nothing was coming out of the other end?
*Oh noes, this is not good*
A faint waft of burning could be smelt and then one slice of brown slightly crispy warm bread came hurtling out followed by a heap of warm bread!
So warm bread for breakfast it is then?! *lol*
We say goodbye to peeps that are not going to Glasgow.
I myself it has to be said am unsure just how wise this return trip to Glasgow is considering how badly I had behaved in Glasgow last year…
I may never get over the crippling embarrassment of it all if I am be honest. (no it's not funny!)
However as with most fears at some point you have to face them, to get over them. And Glasgow I was determined that I would triumph!
So it was that we sat together ever so quietly all the way to Glasgow, not annoying anyone at all, nope not one!
I might have recounted my tale of levels of wrongness and flowery shirts…
(Oh my God but I am a bad person and I shouldn’t be allowed into Glasgow under any circumstances)
We soon arrived in Bonny Scotland, and played the game of chase the suitcase.
I played the game of *runaway* very effectively, it seemed like a wise move to me after what I had done last year because I can’t trust my brain and mouth in such situations (one tends to start before the other is engaged!)
Best to pretend like nothing is happening and that I am just very rude and dim because it’s much safer:/
We hopped on a bus and then hopped off again when we got to Tori’s lovely flat, which didn’t look quite so lovely with all the luggage that we dumped there *is sorry*
And we headed of in search of a pub, we found lots of pubs, but not one that we actually fancied spending five minutes in?!
It is match day after all*LOL*
The rain actually caused the men in kilts to think twice about showing us there ‘wear with all’s’ which last year had frankly been pretty unimpressive!
So the rain might have been trying to do us a favour, but could it please stop now because this whole rain is becoming boring! And do you know what? It did stop!
We headed back to Tori’s flat and it only took us 10 minutes to try out every combination of numbers that we could into the intercom, we are very clever after all, who’d have guessed!
We took a taxi to the……….
OH MY GOD!
This is the >>>>
I am sure it’s lovely, but?!
One meeting with the creepy man under the stairs and I wanted to hide my credit card and refute all knowledge of ever having booked here.
No I have stayed in worse and the sheets were clean. But the man under the stairs leered *slaps him upside the head* and stole your door key’s (BAD MAN!)
We made a pre-emptive strike into Glasgow to find the venue and Gamiila found building love! She squee’d with delight.
Then just as we spied the venue and some protesting people tried to catch us in a rope!
*I DON’T THINK SO, DO YOU!?!*
So we ran away into the pub for a quick fortifying drink, that will teach you*LOL*
The prices made us squee with delight (after the prices at the Troubadour anything under £5 made us very happy if we are honest!) but this would not do we had Toes to inspect!
We climbed up the hill back to the hotel, safe in the knowledge that we knew how to get to the venue later and I the vain hope that the man under the stairs had been replaced by someone less scary; )
Unfortunately he hadn’t and he popped out of the cupboard once more to hand us our keys.
A plan was hatched, Gamiila went off to meet up with her friend, Nai went to sleep and in the light of this being Glasgow and all (remember last year?! Well I do even if you don’t *hangs head in deep shame*) me and Jules headed off to the pub where we would stay until gig time: )
It was very nearly time to meet up with other people who may have been a little bit more sensible than us in the Local *Hello Peeps*
You know when you have drunk far too much because suddenly shots seem like a thoroughly splendid idea:/
Oh LOOK they have one called a ‘secret Squirrel’ it must have been made for me. The shots downed and many silly pictures taken (they must never see the light of day ever *GLARES*) it was time to head off to G2..
Some people might have thought that perhaps we ought to eat something, but well you know how it is!
We arrived during the first band who as far as I remember were quite good, however the secret of the secret squirrel is that inexplicably twenty minutes after you have downed it you lose all ability to hear/ think/ speak for about half and hour, you also lose the use of your legs *Bugger!*
So it would be unfair of me to actually try and tell you about them *is bad, is already in the naughty corner for like ever!*
I do however remember the second band , here a link to them. http://www.myspace.com/thestatebroadcasters
I liked them and felt the need to tell people to give them a chance being a support act that no one knows is scary!
I also made people stop talking because they were loud and that’s rude.
The best way to describe them is American folksy with a Scottish twist.
I will watch out for them appearing at summer festivals next year because they would be a splendid band to dance around to with a beer in hand. Yes I like them a lot, best they record something pretty soon, cos I would buy it!
The evening was whizzing past, I was quickly sobering up and Corn Mo was on stage yeah! He played a blinding set and he bounced well… hang on he can’t be finished already?! The evening now seemed to be on fast forward and that felt wrong.
Blimey Common Rotation are on stage, they look good on stage and it feels right to look up at them (I know I am strange like that)
"Yes We Not In Love" was the title of the set list, I think however you are wrong… cos …well, just because alright!
Help Save The Youth Of America , Yep we need more alcohol… off I head to the bar there will be no tears ..Yeah right!
Everything Under The Sun yep tears
Definitive Biography
Auctioneer I am sure that I put in a very reasonable bid for them all, but they still buggered off!
How To Lose
Union Dues
92 Mikes You don’t need me to tell you how good those last three tunes sounded do you? Nope Good: )
Let Me Die With My Trumpet in My Hand Adam told us the 3rd story *bless again!*
Hero's Dying
Okay I might just have squee’d a lot, I love hearing something that has been a UM for the first time live and this didn’t disappoint at all. I love the lyrics, I adore the guitar and everyone knows what Eric’s vocals do to me….gah!
The band then hit us with
Indie Rockin' Bounce!
Smile and The Whole World Leaves With You
All Smiles
Afterthoughts And yes that’s me again a very attractive puddle of mush, so much so that come the off mic number ‘Sweetheart’ I had to sit on the cornar of the stage to watch because I might just have had a couple of tears: (
Then it was all over and Glasgow being Glasgow they threw us out into the rain!
Right then I am going to cut this shorter than a short thing now because I think that I have waffled enough.
We found food, then we found more drinks and good conversation, unfortunately we also found our hotel and the funny little man under the stairs.
I spent a night not sleeping so rather than have to see the man again I headed off to the airport safe in the knowledge that they would have coffee and internet access, funnily enough they also had Jules and Gamiila: )
The internet finally allowed me to access my e-mails and I wish it hadn’t!! *bad internet!* because supportive colleagues and clients had left some really heart felt words of support for me (crap time at work, long possibly boring story) and one of these messages made the tears well up in my eyes, until I started to cry..
Someone up there really doesn’t like me very much do they?!?
Here I was snotty and not very nice to know and what do I spy?!
Oh yes, it’s the band well it would be wouldn’t it!
So rather than demand possibly inappropriate hugs( I needed hugs) and potentially make even more of a twit of myself than I have done on previous occasions and what with the whole snot thing going on and everything. I figured that they probably hadn’t seen me (if they did this might have been a bit rude *is sorry*)
I picked up my coffee and legged it post haste outside to feed the sparrows, because they don’t mind a snotty, snivelling me as long as I have food to give them.
Well that’s that then, three gigs, loads of laughs, a few tears and a huge amount of admiration and love for this band……
Any gig you guy’s put on that I can get to I will be there. Because each time I have seen this Common Rotation they have upped the anti so to speak. If you see them set the squee free because they deserve mega amounts of squee and then some: )
Thank you and lets all meet again soon…. No sooner than that *glares*

I think the "thank you" should be forwarded to Skylar. It's all her work!
My Trouby and Belfast recordings are totally crap and my tape recorder broke in the middle of "biography" so I don't even have a recording of Glasgow

the sad thing about my funny stories is that they are all true
as guest co-star , I can confirm!
heehee Christy -I am glad you save me sticking my full write-up in here! (except I wouldn't because I'm shy and retiring, you know that - and no-one wants to know about me and airport security!!) You certainly leave no stones unturned! .. ~is a good thing!~ How can I follow that? I really hope G2 gets the Glasgow venue NEXT TIME (my favourite two words) - sure we can fit an extra 100 people in there! Was so brilliant to have a full hour set for a change too ...even though it speeds past so fast ... clung on to every second. Wonderful, best night.

Hello Julia *waves*
See as guest co-star reluctant or not (yes I received the restraining order in the post …. Thanks) you know that this pathetic squee journey really is a snap shot of my life, which if I am honest is a wee (did you see the attempt at Scottish? Did you?!) bit a sad :/
I think EVERYONE would agree that we do need to hear about your whole airport security thing if only to make me look less bizarre *GLARES* (well it’s worked before, so it’s worth a go)
I loved the Glasgow set to bit’s and I know it sounds stupid to say that seeing them on a proper stage felt right and fitting, but you were there so you know what I mean by that hopefully: )
Please *bounce and Squee* because I am a sad sack sat here all on my own: (
Oh and while I am at it, what about all you other lovely folks who were fortunate enough to catch one of these most splendid gigs * glares* get writing and bung it up on this board……. Pretty please because some of us are not at all cool and therefore MySpace seems to be a bit scary: )

AWWW Christy … visually challenged am I! *waves back across the days*!
Ssssh, truly this board sometimes gets so quiet ... it is only sleeping. But the audiences get bigger and bigger and so.. .WHEEE!..sorry.. shhhh.
Maybe an ever increasing admiration, love and respect for certain musicians and their music makes it too difficult to find the right words? They can risk coming out sounding either too trite or as a witless ramble? Aha! - I revealed my personal excuse. Not that it stops me ;P Witness the ramble.
YOUR posts Christy make me giggle and belong firmly in the bottle marked Best Medicine – don't take them away please!
Glasgow was the best. The stage WAS a righteous and proper thing! The set was great, each and every part of it and it was amazing to have a full hour IN SCOTLAND.
There was a final dedication to "anyone who has done more than one show. Has anybody done all the shows? This song is for you!"
And then Adam said they are a just a bunch of best friends who have followed bands around their whole lives – but realised that the only way they could afford to keep doing that, was if they became the act themselves.
Ah. I'll have to settle for just working my backside off between UK visits and it'll have to do!
Looking forward to all the US reviews now! Pretty please. Thanks.
