| So cool to finally see this! Great job by everyone!
Did anyone spot themselves? I see some of shows I attended made the cut, but I'm pretty sure at those shows I ended up standing next to the cameraman, so I'm not seen.
I love the true light situations. If it was dark, it was dark! Even with the band 10 feet away from me, sometimes the lighting was so dim, I had a hard time seeing them.
Of course, I think it's too short. It's hard to tell how long it is with it all in pieces, but I don't think it's even 45 minutes. The pieces transition well, it feels seamless.
Is this ever going to be on dvd? Because I would certainly buy it. I'd love to see it bigger than the little flash screen.
And how about the soundtrack? A live cd (hmm, maybe it would have to be a double cd) of the full versions of the songs performed would be wonderful. The sound of the documentary is great. Guess I'll just have to keep on playing isalie until then.
Again, great work! |

This was really an anzing piece of work. Such a great project to start with, and a very interesting film and wonderful soundtrack (of course).
In answer Watcher - I spotted myself in the back of a shot at the Troubadour. At least I think it's me... |

A soundtrack of the songs they've played in the doc? Haven't most of those songs been given away at some point or another? Either as live cds sold at gigs or on the union maid already? It just seems like it would be redundant.
And I can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure the reason the doc was put up on the site was because getting a ton of dvds pressed costs a lot more than making a batch of cds. So, I wouldn't count on having a physical copy anytime soon, unfortunately. |

I THINK I spotted myself at the Troubadour in London. I'm SURE I would have been seen if there was any footage of The Cavern, but sadly, apart from the sign at the very start, there was none of that. Still, I enjoyed it very much, and I hope to see a full-size version of it at a later date (it's so small on my screen!). And I'm with watcher, the sound was excellent on it for the most part. A new live CD would be great (perhaps that's going to come out of the Hotel Cafe gig???) |

It said in the email newsletter and the news section of the new website that they would sell dvds on their next tour. |

Thanks, Anon#2. Somehow I missed the DVD part in the newsletter. It's a long read! It looks like they plan to put the documentary, the London video and the rooftop show on it. Yeah!
As for CD with the music from the documentary, I know all the songs are already on the CDs, are UMs, or have been recorded by fans and shared. For example, I recognized Given Signs as the song from the Con Suite living room show. Hearing those sodas being opened was a giveaway. But it just would be nice to have them all in one place and to know that the one on the CD is the version on the DVD. I counted 16 songs in the documetary. I think that would just about fill a 70 minute CD without going over. If not, there are always the 80 minute CDs! |

So when the documentary was first posted, I kept track of the songs played. Here's the list. If I wrote "clip" after the song title, that means the whole song isn't played.
vid 1, song 1 - Indie Rockin' (3:48) - Hollywood
vid 1, song 2 - EUTS clip (4:06)
vid 1, song 3 - Try Too Hard clip (5:33) - Bakersfield
vid 2, song 4 - Given Signs (5:39) - Con Suite (Oakland), Las Vegas
vid 3, song 5 - Mad At Someone clip (1:00) - Concord CA
vid 3, song 6 - All Smiles clip (5:01)
vid 4, song 7 - Crowd and I clipped (5:34) - Fresno, CA
vid 5, song 8 - 92 Mikes clip (3:05) - Swarthmore dorm
vid 6, song 9 - Hey Mr DJ (4:09) - Swarthmore 02/19/2005
vid 7, song 10 - Auctioneer (5:20) - The Point, Joey's Ark, Swarthmore dorm
vid 8, song 11 - I Like the Christian Life clip (0:25) - The Point
vid 8, song 12 - Satan is Real clip (1:09) - Bitter End
vid 8, song 13 - God Will (3:12) - Swarthmore 02/19/2005
vid 9, song 14 - Sit Down (3:34) - Glasgow, London
vid 10, song 15 - Pawn (4:27)
vid 11, song 16 - How To Lose (3:25)
If you can fill in the details of the missing wheres and whens, please do!

OK, am I going nuts or what? The first video has Clear Channel before Indie Rockin' now. When did that happen? I'm sure I would have noted Clear Channel when I made my list. |

I have a question. Bear in mind I just got DSL yesterday -- when you play the documentary, is there supposed to be a song on the soundtrack playing over the song they're performing (not the same song, which can be heard under the soundtrack) and what they're saying or is the documentary sound coming in haywire for me?

Our advice, for the overall best documentary experience, that you first go to the music and video section and press STOP on the song. Then click on documentary and enjoy. Hope that helps and God Bless America. |

Anonymous, thanks for the help. I got most of the documentary to play, though for some reason part three (that is, # 3 on the documentary mural/menu) jammed up on me in the middle -- screen froze, sound piled up and I had to skip to the next one. At one point, I also got returned to a segment much earlier in the documentary, though clicking out of this earlier segment got me to a new segment. Mostly, it played fine -- it was great to see all the different venues and behind the scenes footage, and I thought the sound quality was excellent.

Did we ever get an answer as to why this was never committed to DVD? I would pay a really nice price for the chance to watch Common Rotation live at home in good quality whenever I wanted to. It is such a great Documentary and I think it would really benefit from being on DVD or atleast a larger size video file. Do you think the band would be interested in uploading it as a series of either HD or HQ videos on youtube? That way they wouldn't even have to host the huge video files? |

+1
Could we pre-order, if that'd help cover the costs of production? |
