There's something I want to tell you
There's something I want to say
La da da da da da da da da
Da da da da da da da da
Save your breath little darling
Save your breath for me
Your restless heart is speaking fast
And begging to agree
Keep the air tight little darling
Save your lips for this skylark
And lie to the white light now
Confess it all to the dark
But for now I want you to sit right there
And humor me for a while if you can
There's something I want you to hear from me
And I pray you understand
Wait for it now darling
Wait for the words to come
Today you wasted your precious time
To know where I'm coming from
Let the past be the past
Just be right here with me
You might like what you're about to hear
Then again we'll just have to see
'Cause for now I want you to sit right there
And just humor me for a while if you can
There's something that I want you to hear from me
And I pray you understand
There's something I want to tell you
There's something I want to say
La da da da da da da da da
Da da da da da da da da

700 . Ribbons - Dec 21st 2007 4.40MB 3.50mins
I’ve been dreaming about love
Ribbons without applause
Now hold up, young man
You won’t be the first to know
And on this drowning
As your sailing the under tow
True now, thin blood
You won’t be the last to go
With one eye tied to the light
And one eye on the sparrow
Cos, I’ve been dreaming about love
Rebel without a cause
I’ve been stricken with doubt
Ribbons without applause
All day long, all day long
Good man, solider
You keep your hands cross your heart
And oh dark hundreds they get an early start
Cos, I’ve been dreaming about love
A rebel without a cause
I’ve been stricken with doubt
Ribbons without a cause

711. Walkin' - January 8, 2008 (1.831MB) 1:36
I’m walking; I’m walking through a valley
Through a temple of lost time
I’m walking, loudly talking like a caged bird
Way past my prime
And it’s not that you haven’t told me before
I know I’m loved that’s plain to see
But it’s goanna take more than a promise of an open door
To kill this fear in me
I’m singing; I’m singing like an angel
With a voice like a light up on high
I’m ringing; I’m ringing like the bells
Like the bells that signify
And it’s not that I haven’t heard this before
I know what I’m told be
Well it’s goanna take more than the promise of an open door
To kill this fear in me
To kill this fear in me

719. Gods Comic Union Maid - January 18, 2008 (4.62MB) 4:02
Artist Name: Elvis Costello
Album: Spike
Songwriter: Declan Macmanus
Release Date: 1989.01.01
Label: Warner Bros.
As performed by: Speiser Bros. Featuring Common Rotation
I wish you'd known me when I was alive
I was a funny fellow
The crowd would hoot and holler for more
I wore a drunk's red nose for applause
Oh yes I was a comical priest
With a joke for the flock and a hand up your fleece
Drooling the drink and the lipstick and greasepaint
Down the cardboard front of my dirty dog collar
Now I'm dead, now I'm dead, now I'm dead, now I'm dead
And I'm going on to meet your reward
I was scared, I'll be scared, I'll be scared, I'll be scared
You might have never heard God's comic
So there he was on a waterbed
Drinking a cola of a mystery brand
Reading an airport novelette
Listening to Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Requiem"
He said before it had really begun
"I prefer the one about my son
I've been wading through all this unbelievable junk
And wondering if I should have given the world to the monkeys"
I'm going to take a little trip down Paradise's endless shores
They say that travel broadens the mind
Til you can't get your head out of doors
I'm sitting here on the top of the world
I hang around in the longest night
Until each beast has gone to bed
And then I say "God bless" and put out the light
While you lie in the dark afraid to breathe
Then you beg and you promise and you bargain and you plead
Sometimes you confuse me with Santa Claus
It's the big white beard I suppose
I'm going up to the pole where you folks die of cold
I might be gone for a while if you need me
Now I'm dead, now I'm dead, now I'm dead, now I'm dead
And I'm going on to meet your reward
I'll be scared, I'll be scared, I'll be scared, I'll be scared
You might have never heard God's comic

January 24 2008, 12:51 AM
I love hearing the evolution of a song.
I'm putting Greetings/Patients/I Won't Wait up again because the first lines have changed since the last transcription in The Lyrics Are Here thread. The band hasn't changed those lyrics. If you listen to the UM from May 28, 2007, you can hear where the transcribed lyrics needed to be changed.
Besides tweaking some other words for this version, I added the new whispered (I won't wait).
There's a word I don't understand this time, but thought I did last time. I left in the word we heard last time: "When (thought?) that sprains." Now it sounds like a word that starts with "b" and ends in "f". Really, I'm hearing "buff."
I like how the "tug of war" lines are sung slightly different each time.
"It's a steeple changing hands" isn't what they're singing, but I can't figure out what it could be, even after listening to the word in all the versions. "It's a (two syllable word) change in hands". "It's a steeper change in hands." "It's a (word) to change in hands." This is beating me insane (heh). Help!
721. Greetings - January 22, 2008 (3.96MB) 3:28
Greetings my friends
There's a solace in the end
It’s a matrimonial matrix
There’s a make for every band
Seating depends
On how much you're willing to spend
On the market price of medicine
On the middleman of men
It’s a tug of war upon us
It's a (something) change in hands
It’s a malady of malcontent
On a mission for demands
No, I won’t wait for you to say when
I won’t wait for you
This is not the treatment
This is not the treatment
Hello again
This is beating me insane
In cries that sounds like passion
But it’s something more mundane
When (thought?) that sprains
It's just a fracture of your brain
That has you reeling forwards
While you sublimate the pain
Don't trip in topsy turvy
No element to ash
No fever forged for certain
No settlement to cash
No, I won’t wait for you to say when
I won’t wait for you
This is not the treatment
This is not the treatment
I won’t wait (I won't wait)
No, I won’t wait
There’s no tug of war upon us
There’s no (something) change in hands
There’s no malady of malcontent
On a mission for demands
I won’t wait for you to say when
I won’t wait for you to say when
I won’t wait for you

726. Move - January 28, 2008 (3.59MB) 3.08
The patter of the rain in the middle of the night
I hear your footsteps on stairs as you turn off the light
And as you move in real close your body close to mine
I pretend that I’m asleep if you cross over that line
Please move away
I’m not asking, I’m telling I’m not buying what you’re selling
When you say
Please move away
For your all that I can stand here deep in the palm of your hand here
Kept awake
Please move away
I could slither out of bed for the exit of the moon
I could crawl beneath the fanfare flags raised to soon
I could skip the divides the hallways of our youth
A master in his chamber forever echoing the truth
Please move away
I’m not asking, I’m telling I’m not buying what you’re selling
When you say
Please move away
For your all that I can stand here deep in the palm of your hand here
Led a stray
Please move away
Fate for me is term I serve all this distant, all this distant
Gratefully you are paid to care its all consentient, it’s all consistent
So when I get up to go don’t foil my scheme
Even if I can’t escape, leave me free to dream
I promise I will write and you know that I will
There will always be more time to love and even more to kill
Please move away
I’m not asking, I’m telling I’m not buying what you’re selling
When you say
Please move away
For your all that I can stand here deep in the palm of your hand here
Led a stray
Please move away

729. Shall Oh - Feb 9, 2008 (4.60MB) 4:01
Been waiting for this day to come
I’ve been staring at each setting sun
That goes down, goes down
Night and day from day to night
Though seldom out the in morning light
I’m around, I’m around
Sitting the season out
In my mind you haven’t changed
Your hair short, your eyes the same
You’re laughing, you’re laughing
Feel your weight upon my chest
And I’m holding on with each last breath
I’m asking, I’m asking
Come, come for me now
Come for me now
Come, come for me now
Come for me now
Your words I keep so close to me
I read them loud obsessively
I’m lonely, lonely
Others have family and friends
I know that will mean
Your lonely, your lonely
Come, come for me now
Come for me now
Come, come for me now
Come for me now
Come, come for me now
Come for me now
Come, come for me now
Come for me now

736. You Always Hurt The One You Love - Feb 20, 2008 (4.08MB) 3:34
Words & Music by Allan Roberts & Doris Fisher
Recorded by The Mills Brothers, 1944
You always hurt the one you love
The one you shouldn't hurt at all
You always take the sweetest rose
And crush it till the petals fall
You always break the kindest heart
With a hasty word you can't recall
So if I broke your heart last night
It's because I love you most of all

The Way You Make Me Feel
UM 747 - Mar 17, 2008
Words and music by Michael Jackson
Hey pretty baby with the high heels on
You give me fever
Like I've never, ever known
You're just a product of loveliness
I like the groove of your walk,
Your talk, your dress
I feel your fever
From miles around
I'll pick you up in my car
And we'll paint the town
Just kiss me baby
And tell me twice
That you're the one for me
The way you make me feel
You really turn me on
You knock me off of my feet
My lonely days are gone
I like this feelin' you're givin' me
Just hold me baby and I'm in ecstasy
Oh I'll be workin' from nine to five
To buy you things to keep you by my side
I never felt so in love before
Just promise baby, you'll love me forevermore
I swear I'm keepin' you satisfied
'Cause you're the one for me
The way you make me feel
You really turn me on
You knock me off of my feet now
My lonely days are gone

They Care to See
UM 749 - Mar 20, 2008
I'm on a long walk
to an airfield
to a skybox
to a family
I am a shield
for the young ones
raise their hands up
to slow the Grand Marquis
following the wheels
as they pass us by
kicking dust into our eyes
so we can't see
staring down at the wheels
beaten by the sky
with an undying trust
in the man in front of me
now go on
go on without me
go run child
and set yourself free
write him old
tired and broken
and my eyes have seen
all that they care to see
the sound of birds
all but the wind is silent
faces unchanging
with the sun going down
and I am a sword
a hopeless weapon
falling to my knees
I will come back around
now go on
go on without me
go run child
and set yourself free
write him old
tired and broken
and my eyes have seen
all that they care to see
yeah, my eyes have seen
all that they care to see

Thanks for the correction, Anonymous. I knew that was wrong but it was late and my brain couldn't shake those words out and figure out something that made sense. There's always something Eric sings that I can't understand.
It took me forever to figure out "Grand Marquis" wasn't "grand marquee"! Not a car person.

Moonshiner
traditional
UM 750 - Mar 21, 2008
I've been a moonshiner
For seventeen long years
I've spent all my money
On whiskey and beer
I go to the hollow
And sit at my still
And if whiskey don't kill me
I don't know what will
I go to some bar room
And drink with my friends
Where women can't follow
And see what I spend
God bless them pretty women
And I wish they was mine
Their breath is as sweet as
The dew on the vine
Let me eat when I'm hungry
And drink when I'm dry
A dollar when I'm hard up
Religion when I die
The whole world's a bottle
And life's but a dram
When the bottle gets empty
It ain't worth a damn

Say your prayers and hop under the covers tonight
Hours will pass before your tired eyes meet the light
Say your prayers and sit down to the table tonight
Say your prayers and everything'll be alright
(CHORUS)
Outside looking in
Nothing comes that easy he said
Houses turn to sand taken by the sea
Rivers turn to land
Still I catch their water in my hands
Still I catch their water in my hands
Happy birthday may the world lay a gift at your feet
A record collection or maybe even world peace
'Cause the US Army is coming to collect you tonight
Eighteen and able to pick up a gun and fight

The Traitor
Leonard Cohen
UM 762. Apr 8, 2008.
The Swan it floated on the English river
The Rose of high romance it opened wide
A sun tanned woman yearned me through the summer
And the judges watched us from the other side
Well I told my mother, "Mother I must leave you
Preserve my room but do not shed a tear
Should rumors of a shabby ending reach you
It was half my fault and half the atmosphere"
But the Rose I sickened with a scarlet fever
And the Swan I tempted with a sense of shame
She said at last I was her finest lover
And if she withered I would be to blame
The judges said you missed it by a fraction
Rise up and brace your troops for the attack
The dreamers ride against the men of action
Oh see the men of action falling back
But I lingered on her thighs a fatal moment
And I kissed her lips as though I thirsted still
And my falsity had stung me like a hornet
The poison sank and it paralyzed my will
But I could not move to warn the younger soldiers
That they had been deserted from above
So on battlefields from here to Barcelona
I'm listed with the enemies of love
And long ago she said, "I must be leaving
But keep my body here to lie upon
You can move it up and down and when I'm sleeping
Run some wire through that Rose and wind the Swan"
So daily I renew my idle duty
I touch her here and there, I know my place
I kiss her open mouth and I praise her beauty
And people call me traitor to my face
And people call me traitor to my face

I'm So Lonesome, I Could Cry
Hank Williams, Jr.
UM 769 - Apr 23, 2008
Hear that lonesome whippoorwill,
He sounds too blue to fly.
The midnight train is whining low,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
You've never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by.
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide its face and cry.
Did you ever hear a robin weep,
When leaves began to die?
That means he's lost his will to live,
I'm so lonesome I could cry.
The silence of the falling star
Lights a purple sky.
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry.

No Love At All
by T-Bone Burnett
UM 774. May 2, 2008.
No love at all
I get no love at all
You say you love me
I get no love at all
Outside my window
The rain's pouring down
Just like my teardrops
Now you're not around
You say you love me
But do you really care
Another night I need you so
And you're nowhere near
No love at all
I get no love at all
You say you love me
I get no love at all
You hold my hand
And you're kind as you can be
But that's where it ends
When it comes to lovin' me
You say nothing's wrong
But you know that ain't right
Baby where's that feeling
Oh, won't you hold me tight
No love at all
I get no love at all
You say you love me
I get no love at all
We used to be close to each other
What happened to the love we used to share
Why can't I see the side of you
That loves me anymore?
Is it still there?
Oh, no love at all
I get no love at all
You say you love me
I get no love at all
You say you love me
I get no love at all

let's go again ... so much change since anon put up lyrics to "Shall Oh" back in Feb and as my favourite of the year so far
UM 771. Please Come - Apr 25, 2008
You said I would return
You swore we'd meet again
And that the tides would turn
Before the Summer's end
We would sigh as we slept
And pass the time that we had left
But I've been waiting for that day to come
I've been staring at each setting sun
That goes down
that goes down
From night to day, from day to night
Though seldom out in morning light
I'm around
I'm around
Sitting each season down.
The air is low, the heat is high
My skin is burned
I cannot cry
I'm laughing
Well I'm laughing
Please
Come for me now
Come for me now
Please
Come for me now
Come for me now
In my mind, the photo changed
Your hair is short, your eyes the same
We're dancing
We're dancing
I feel your hand upon my chest
And I'm holding on with each last breath
I'm asking
I'm asking
Please
Come for me now
Come for me now
Please
Come for me now
Come for me now
Come and hear my final words
And listen like you've never heard before
An army stands before my bed
And I wonder why I'm still not dead
And what I'm waiting for
Please
Come for me now
Come for me now
Please
Come for me now
Come for me now
You said I would return
You swore we'd meet again
And all the tides would turn
Before the Summer's end
Come for me now

Well you can’t say I don’t try! All help gratefully received as always.
779. Memphis 1 - May 16, 2008
Deep in the heart of Graceland
There’s a story they never tell
There’s a secret they like to keep hidden from us
And it’s one we know all too well
Yeah deep in the depths of the river bed
There are ages on ages to try
There are answers to all the ruined lives
That stacked out to a rock and a bed
Though the surface is swimming
The answers lie in saving pills
If it should ever come back up again
We’ll drown it right there and then
The candidate drew a line to heaven
Just for a promised vote he had to keep
Like all the pretty flowers laid out at funerals
They’re dead before we weep
Yeah the pastor and the blues man
Have made a similar deal
Yeah they stood out at that cross roads
Waiting to be healed
Yeah they were waiting to be healed
Though the surface it’s swimming
You’re the search light that saying their prayers
If it should ever come back up again
We’ll drown it right there and then
We’ll drown it right there and then
Now the king he was a good man
He gave a horse to the woman that he loved
He gave a car to a complete stranger
If it got him right with the lord above
But deep in the heart of Graceland
Up the stairs where the fans cannot go
Was a quite voice we never heard
And it was begging for us all to reap just what we sow
Long the surface its swimming
Yeah the answers right to say their prayers
If should ever come back up again
We’ll drown it right there and then
We’ll drown it right there and then
We’ll drown it right there and then

Both Hands of Love
UM 785. June 3, 2008
looking like summer
swinging like gangsters
the one armed bandits
and the aching twilight
handsome figures
posting up shadows
just an old ?
on a slow saturday night
but I forgot all that I was thinking of
my brain had been washed by both hands of love
hanging low
the tangle
of the branches as ?
more of the same ?
yet the moon eats your spirit
?
? in the town
square around an effigy
well I forgot all that I was thinking of
my will had been caught by both hands of love
sweet lady speak to me
well I'm begging at your door
that ain't your style, though
so please, don't send me away
baby just strangle me once more
just strangle me once more
and answer my prayers
with this fantasy season
with the blood swept under
the dust covered dash
be an angel over me
and answer all my prayers
well it's too hot to be sleeping now
without the sting of your lash
well I forgot all that I was dreaming of
all my will had been caught by both hands of love
well I forgot what I was dreaming of
all my will had been caught by both hands of love
both hands of love
I especially like how Eric sounds when he sings the part that starts "sweet lady speak to me..."
Am I nuts thinking this song is about baseball?

Thirteen
by Big Star
UM 789. June 11, 2008
Won't you let me walk you home from school
Won't you let me meet you at the pool
Maybe Friday I can
Get some tickets to the dance
And I'll take you
Won't you tell your dad, "Get off my back"
Tell him what we said 'bout 'Paint It Black'
Rock 'n Roll is here to stay
Come inside where it's okay
And I'll shake you.
Won't you tell me what it is you know
Would you be an outlaw for my love
If it's "no", let me know
If it's "no", just say so
I can't make you
Interesting bit of trivia from Wikipedia (I'll let you figure out the "Six Degrees")
The song "Thirteen" was featured on an episode of CBS's How I Met Your Mother, airing March 24, 2008. "Thirteen" was also featured on a episode of Gilmore Girls and was included on the show's soundtrack Our Little Corner of the World.

Something Happened On The Way To Heaven+
Lyrics: Phil Collins
Music: Daryl Stuermer
Album: ...But Seriously (1989)
UM 792 - June 18, 2008
We had a life, we had a love,
But you don't know what you've got til you lose it
Well that was then and this is now
And I want you back
How many times do I have to say I'm sorry
How can something so good go so bad
How can something so right go so wrong
I don't know, I don't have all the answers
But I want you back
How many times can I say I'm sorry
You can run, and you can hide
But I'm not leaving 'less you come with me
We've had our problems but I'm on your side
You're all I need, please believe in me
I only wanted someone to love
But something happened on the way to heaven
It got a hold of me and wouldn't let go
And I want you back
How many times do I have to say I'm sorry
You can run, and you can hide
But I'm not leaving 'less you come with me
We've had our problems but I'm on your side
You're all I need, please believe in me
They say you can't take it with you when you go
And I believe it
But taking what I've got
Or being here with you,
You know I'd rather leave it
You can run, and you can hide
But I'm not leaving 'less you come with me
We've had our problems but I'm on your side
You're all I need, please believe in me
You can run, and you can hide
But I'm not leaving 'less you come with me
We've had our problems but I'm on your side
You're all I need, please believe in me

Don't Let Me Go
UM 803. July 18, 2008.
When your darkest day has come
And you have no where left to run
Well, I will tell you what you already know
Just don't let me go
And if your world has come apart
And you can't bear the weight of your heart
Well, you can take my hand, I'll share your load
Just don't let me go
Don't let me go
It's easier said than done, I know
But don't let me go
While I am no hero, this I'm sure
And for you I have no cure
I'm just one more tortured soul
So don't let me go
Don't let me go
It's easier said, but I know
Just don't let me go
The line
"While I am no hero, this I'm sure"
could be
"Why, I am no hero, this I'm sure"
I don't think it's
"Why I am no hero, this I'm sure"
even though Eric sings the phrase without a pause, because I don't think the singer is questioning if he's a hero or not.
What do you think?

Blue
Mark Olson / Gary Louris
Where have all my friends gone
They've all disappeared
Turned around maybe one day
You were all that was there
Stood by unbelieving
Stood by on my own
Always thought I was someone
Turned out I was wrong
But you brought me through
And you made me feel so
Blue, why don't you stay behind, so
Blue, why don't you stop and look at what's goin' down
Live by an old woman
She'd never sell me a lie
It's hard to sing with someone
Who won't sing with you
Give all of my mercy
Give all of my heart
Never thought I'd miss you
That I'd miss you so much
But you brought me through
And you made me feel
Blue, why don't you stay behind
Blue, why don't you stop and look at what's goin' down
Stand by, stand by, waiting round
(All my life I'm waiting for, someone I could hold the door)
Now that I'm blue, that I'm blue
(But nothing seems to change, you'll come back I know)
From now on, so
Blue, why don't you stay behind
Blue, why don't you, stay behind
So blue, yeah, yeah, yeah
So blue, why don't you stop and look at what's goin' down

Punch-Drunk Love movie soundtrack (2002)
UM 831 - Oct 6, 2008
You've gotta hope that there's someone for you
As strange as you are
Who can cope with the things that you do
Without trying too hard
You can bend the truth
'Til it's soothing you
These things that you're wrapping all around you
You never know what they will amount to
And if your life is just going on without you
It's the end of the things you know
Here we go
You've gotta know that there's more to this world
Than what you have seen
'Cause we all have a limited view
Of what we can be
As we move along
With our blinders on
Each one of us feels a little stranded
And you can't explain or understand it
Each one of us is on a different planet
Amidst all the to and fro
Someone can say hello
Here we go
The feeling that someone really gets you
It's something that no one should object to
It could happen today so I suggest you
Skip your habit of laying low
It's the end of the things you know
Here we go
Someone can say hello
You old so and so
Here we go

Rock Me Obama
UM 840. Nov, 3rd 2008
My daddy worked for the assembly line
And now and then my mama took a job outta town
I always worked hard and did just like they taught me
Studied at school, I learned how to listen
Got sent to a college, couldn't afford the tuition
Mom and daddy said that they were sorry
So I left Tallahassee where a vote don't count
The father of the governor’s brother heads down
Illinois, oh boy, your sun is setting now
So rock me Obama through the wind and the rain
Rock me Obama like a south bound train
Ooh, Obama rock me
Now after 9/11 everything changed
We all end up in heaven yet all could be arranged
The end of days they'd be there with the second coming
So I followed them there while he follows me here
To the same guy too, I pray he disappear
And did I hear a voice sing that we could all begin again
So I swore off this war that I was fightin' in
They could tell me who was wanderin' but they couldn't tell me when
With no end in sight they told me that I was just goin' blind
So rock me Obama through the wind and the rain
Rock me Obama like a south bound train
Ooh, Obama rock me
Mystery swore he would welcome us home
But he didn't take the column no he left us all alone
Now like you I'm out on the streets begging for change
Now hope is just a word for change we need to fight
But her brand new baby needs a brand new bite
One like we've never known, one that's just for him
The gas keeps on rising, the temperature too
The dollar keeps falling, is there something you could do?
If I could find the time you know I'd do it for you
I get your white bird and new shirt, a flag pit and song
Upbeat with a queue sheet and we all can sing along
But what will you remember once this chorus is gone?
I make you this promise that if it's meant to be
What you do not matter I will be your legacy
Well I might die trying but at least I'll die free
So rock me Obama through the wind and the rain
Rock me Obama like a south bound train
Ooh, Obama rock me
So rock me Obama til I can't complain
Rock me Obama with your middle name
Ooh, Obama rock me
So rock me Obama through the wind and the rain
Rock me Obama like a south bound train
Ooh, Obama rock me
So rock me Obama til you can't complain
Rock me Obama with your middle name
Ooh, Obama rock me
Ooh, Obama rock me
Ooh, Obama rock me

Bluebird
Tweaks for this version
UM 861. Dec 16, 2008
The rose on my window's edge has withered away
I'm trying to make some sense of what's left of this day
And I'm around, I'm around, I'll be around
Cause it sounds just like something people say
But the bluebird at my side is made of colored glass
It spreads the sun 'cross everything and all that must pass
And I'm around, I'm around, I'll be around
Cause it sounds just like something you would say
But you don't say
Don't say
On a Saturday night, let's hit our favorite spot
From our first couple of dances, to our last parting shot
And I'm alright, I'm alright, I'll be alright
But I'm fine, this is you and me tonight
You see I've been a Romeo, I've seen many a Juliet
And that's a tragic story there, but they both asked for it
And I'm around, I'm around, I'll be around
Cause there's something I need to learn from this
But everyone will be calling us home dear
Or is this about a land of sea and foam here
Stay out real late, be as loud as we can be
We'll wake every living thing, shake every bird from its tree
But the bluebird on my window's edge, it shines just for you
It killed the stolen rose and all my sadness too
And I'm around, I'm around, I'll be around
Cause it sounds just like something people say
It just sounds just like some tired old cliché
But the truth is always coming through
The bird that's forever blue
For you
For you

I'm Your Puppet
written by Linden Oldham and Dan Penn
UM 863 - Dec 18, 2008
Pull the string and I'll wink at you, I'm your puppet
I'll do funny things if you want me to, I'm your puppet
I'll be yours to have and to hold
Darling, you've got full control of your puppet
Pull another string and I'll kiss your lips, I'm your puppet
Snap your fingers and I'll turn you some flips, I'm your puppet
Your every wish is my command
All you gotta do is just wiggle your hand
I'm your puppet, I'm your puppet
I'm just a toy, just a funny boy
That makes you laugh when you're blue
I'll be wonderful, do just what I'm told
I'll do anything for you
I'm your puppet, I'm your puppet
Pull them little strings and I'll sing you a song, I'm your puppet
Make me do right or make me do wrong, I'm your puppet
Treat me good and I'll do anything
I'm just a puppet and you hold my string
I'm your puppet
Walking, talking, living, loving puppet
I'm hanging on a string, girl, I'll do anything
I'm a walking, talking, living, loving puppet
And I love you

My Kingdom
March 21 2009, 6:07 PM
Anyone know conclusive lyrics on "My Kingdom"? Here's what I've come with just listening to it (I'm sure there are wrong bits):
The horses are all sad
Ashes in a canyon
Winter birds scared of daylight
Are beckoned to the fold
Theres less peace in the valley
For a life that is ending
For the warmth on the ridges
Deep in the shadowy soul
E-Z chairs have rocked me
Easier times have come
But nothing could ever stop me now
I know my kingdom will come
A cowboy soprano
Is a lone wolf in his path
This tune is taken from him
While his body lay intact
CHORUS
The dinner bell has rung
And all has reacted
At the pace of their own heart
And to the story they been told
But the wind makes the shutters
And the shelter full of holes
All for want of a supper
Slowly getting cold

Excellent work 'bknick' Thank you
It would be so nice to have an 'easy chair' 'watcher' instead of the 'office chair' that has been shaping my world for the last year:(
Alas, I can but dream of such things.
On a side note, I also dream of some UK/European dates for this year, dreaming is a good thing after all:)
