Hi -- these aren't new pictures (I'm not sure if anyone was taking pictures), but here's the report on the midnight show last Saturday night (Sept. 6/morning of Sept. 7) at the Steve Allen Theatre in Hollywood.
Unlike most of the venues where I've seen Common Rotation before, this is an actual proscenium theatre, meaning there's a stage facing rows of seats that are fastened to the floor.
The evening's lineup was Eric, Adam, Jordan, Ryan Raddatz on mandolin and keyboards and Matt Young on stand-up bass. First up was "Bitter Honey," with a lot of vocal harmonies from everybody, Ryan on piano and a lot of instrumental riff.
Next was "Trumpet," with really nice, strong strings between the guitar, bass, Jordan's banjo and Ryan's mandolin.
"My Kingdom" had Ryan back on piano, giving it a honky-tonk flavor, Adam on autoharp, Jordan on banjo. The bass and the banjo really added a lot, as did Jordan, Matt and Ryan's backup vocals.
"Union Maid" had Jordan on trumpet and banjo (alternating), Ryan on ukelele, Adam on vocals and harmonica, with a very Dixieland jazz outtro.
There followed an hour of various comedy acts.
The band came back for a show-ending performance of "Union Dues," with Eric and Adam both providing very strong vocals, Jordan on banjo and Ryan on mandolin, switching to piano for the big finish. With all the strings in the mix, the bridge was particularly lively.
