Sorry this took so long. The M Bar concert took place smack in the middle of an epic work situation, which was followed immediately by a family situation (which precluded me going to the Steve Allen show at all), so this is the first time I've had to type up the report.
This was another big band lineup, with Eric, Adam, Jordan, Ken, Matt Young, Mark McConville, Ryan Raddatz, James King and Jillinda Palmer.
First up was "Union Maid," with Matt on stand-up bass, Eric and Mark on acoustic guitar, Adam on harmonica, Ken on cojone, James on sax, Jillinda on the accordion, Jordan on banjo, switching to trumpet and Ryan on mandolin. The house sound system didn't get turned off right away, so they played extra loud, with a strong treble line. Eric and Adam both took lead vocals.
Next was "92 Mics." Ryan played mandolin, Mark was on acoustic guitar (as was Eric) and Jordan on banjo. The music had an angry silvery sound for this rendition.
The Dustbowl Cavaliers contingent -- Matt, Mark, Ryan -- left the stage. Jordan had his banjo, Adam his autoharp, Eric his acoustic guitar and Ken his cojone -- Mark Evan Jackson came onstage with a guitar and the band yielded to him for a song about the "Law & Order" franchise (the TV series, not the general concept), with John DiMaggio adding the "Ch-ch" noise familiar to viewers of those series.
Jordan took lead vocals initially on "I Still Miss Someone," played as a slow country ballad with Jordan on banjo, Adam on autoharp, Eric on guitar and vocal harmonies and Ken on cojone.
Adam sang melody and Eric harmony on a bouncy edition of "True Hollywood Romance," with Eric on acoustic guitar, Jordan on trumpet and Ken on cojone.
Adam played glock, Jordan banjo switching to trumpet, Eric acoustic guitar and Ken shakers for "Walk in the Park," with Eric singing melody and Adam harmony. It was lovely, with Adam really getting into the glock on the outtro.
Eric did lead vocals on "Don't Want to Die Alone," with Jordan on banjo, Adam on harmonica and Ken on a cylindrical silver instrument.
The Dustbowl Cavaliers contingent returned for "Smile," with Adam on lead vocals, James King on sac, Eric and Mark on guitars, Ryan on mandolin and Matt on bass. They interpolated a bit of "You're So Vain" into the song, which had a huge outtro and Adam on harmonica.
Jillinda played piano on "Bitter Honey," with Jordan on banjo, Ryan on mandolin, Adam on harmonica and everyone chiming in vocally on the chorus.
The entire lineup of the Dustbowl Cavaliers took to the stage for a Dustbowl set -- Adam and Eric stayed to perform on the first song, "Here to Stay," with Adam on harmonica and both doing backup vocals.
And that's the report!
