Thanks, Shapenew. It's a good thing you got a notice since the band's appearance isn't on the main CR webpage or on the CR MySpace page.

There's a new blog entry for Feb 23rd on MySpace that notes the Feb 28th show at The Hotel Cafe.

Well, I now understand why the message was up, then down, then emailed, as it was and was not a Common Rotation set (kind of like that insurance commercial with, "I'd like this shirt starched and not starched ..."). Common Rotation (this evening consisting of Adam, Eric, Matt Young, James King, Jillinda Palmer and a cello player who remained unidentified to me) backed up other performers, including Dan Bern, throughout the evening. However, the one main Common Rotation number consisted of Eric singing male lead vocals and playing acoustic guitar with a female duet partner on "I've Had the Time of My Life" (from "Dirty Dancing") with Adam drafted into doing a sign language interpretation. Adam, playing someone who doesn't know sign language (I don't know if he really does or not -- he did get some of the signs right), attempted to interpret in sign for the audience. Amber Benson came out of the wings and assisted with a series of written messages, basically saying that she was interpreting for the sign-language-impaired interpreter (Adam), and then going off into other matters (i.e., not the lyrics of "I've Had the Time of My Life") while Eric and partner kept going with straight faces. The stand-up bass was particularly effective.

On a completely unrelated to Common Rotation note, Buck Henry, along with Laraine Newman, performed excerpts from a book written by children (the evening was a benefit for a group that helps under-educated schoolchildren get an education). Mr. Henry epitomizes the words "wry," "droll" and "bemused."

Anyway, that's the general report. Due to a day filled with kerfuffle, I managed to leave my notepad behind in the car prior to the show, so I'm just going on memory with this one.
