I kind of figured word got back to the guardians about his and AndrAIa's work in other systems like in "Icons" and the Guardians take him on as a student instructor, he learns as he teaches a course in game survival given his cycles of experience eventually becoming the "go-to" instructor for more unruly cadets creating a class of guardians patterned after his own Enemitable style (for reference See GI Joe:The movie, specifically Slaughter's marauders)
