NTVDM emulation in Windows 7?

I think so, not absolutely sure. But it needs to be Home Premium. I'll try to find out at the next MS meeting.

Also to be noted: Windows 7 can also be programmed to use touch screens (like with the iphone), using finger gestures to zoom in and out, rotate, etc. Some new laptops coming out sometime in the future will have touch screens. This would be somewhat similar to the Microsoft "surface" screens you've heard about.
