Celebration of Life for Joe Williams, Class of 1960

Here are plans for a celebration of Life for Joe William Class of 1960, who passed away on March 23, 2008, sent to us by John Howe, whose email address is thirdhowe@aol.com.

The celebration will take place in the Upper Arlington High School Cafeteria on July 5 at 10:00 am.

Here is the notice that will appear in an upcoming issue of UA News:

Williams, Joe B., age 65, lost his courageous battle against lung cancer on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Hospice House of Lake and Sumter Florida. Joe was born in Lima, Ohio on April 26, 1942, however, he and his family moved to Upper Arlington 6 weeks later. He graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1960 and attended Ohio University. He was a member of the Northwest Methodist Church and was active in many organizations in the Arlington/Columbus area. Joe applied his entrepreneurial spirit to several ventures, most notably founding Excursions Unlimited, a travel company, as well as Windwalkers Air Country Club and Preferred Travel Group. He was honored by the Upper Arlington Chamber of Commerce as Business man of the Year. In 2002, he and his wife, Cindy, moved to The Villages, Florida where he fulfilled a life-long dream of owning a motorcycle. Joe had many friends throughout the world and in addition to being a passionate Ohio State Buckeye fan, he loved golfing, skiing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his father, Ralph and his mother, Lillian Herr Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Cindy; son, Sean; daughter, Shannon; stepson, Travis and brother Dan. He will be missed by 4 grandsons Tyler Williams, Nicholas and Carson Puhl and Adam Ritter. Also surviving are 2 nieces, Jill Williams Weispfenning and Suzanne Williams Schoenfeld and 1 nephew, Brian Williams.

A celebration of life will take place for Joe at Upper Arlington High School cafeteria on July 5 at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory can be made to: Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, 12902 Magnolia Drive, Tampa, FL 33612.
