Can anyone explain to me the difference between hydraulic, mechanical and roller camshafts? Isn't the difference simply have to do with the type of lifters used? What design difference is their between a hydraulic camshaft and a hydraulic roller camshaft specifically?

The differance is in "Flat Tappet vs Roller." A Flat Tappet needs a different glide pattern to reach the top of the lobe. I beleive that a Roller due to less drag can excelerate mass quicker therefore a different profile is needed.
