I am the third owner of this car and the previous owner has had the car since 1978. He told me that he drag raced the car in 1980’s and occasionally in the 1990’s and has only been giving rides to grandkids / great grandkids for the last 20 years. The odometer shows 29K miles and he represented that those were total original miles. The car still does have all of its original suspension complete with faded paint markings as seen in the photos but seeing that the previous owner was in his 80’s, who knows.

The car has been painted once by the previous owner and needs completely redone to be a show car. There are dings, dents, worn through spots along with small rust spot in the rear passenger side lower quarter panel, a pin holes that needs addressed in the trunk floor, a couple of spots in the floor pans that I can see when the car is on the lift and one cut hole in the engine bay passenger side rear inner fender (hole to get to the rear spark plug?) all as seen in the photos. The previous owner also installed an Edelbrock carburetor and aluminum intake manifold. The engine and transmission are original to the car and are stamped accordingly. The engine runs strong and has an aggressive cam. The previous owner couldn’t remember the duration of the cam but you can definitely here it when the car runs – sounds awesome. The engine is a DOVE-A block with DOOE-R heads. The toploader transmission is a RUG AZ 1 011024 with a cast iron tail shaft D0ZR-7A040-A W2. When I had the transmission shop go through the transmission I was told it had been rebuilt recently and didn’t need anything. I installed a new double-sided steel clutch, new pressure plate, new pilot bearing, new throw out bearing, rebuilt the Z bar and added new bushings to the shifter linkage. I had the power steering pump professionally rebuilt and it is original to the car with the correct long return tube in back of the reservoir. I also put new tires on the original Magnum 500 rims. The car has its original rev limiter, 3.50 open 9” nodular “N” case 3rd member date coded 0L3 with the original markings that I uncovered under a layer of grease/dirt. The leaf springs and drive shaft also have the original paint markings or at least the faded areas where they used to be identifying them as original to the car. The car even has its original radiator and is stamped D1ZE-DA 1DR.

The car needs very little in order to be a daily driver but needs a complete restoration in order to be a show car. The areas, in my opinion, that need addressed to be a daily driver are resealing the aluminum intake manifold – it is leaking in the center front behind the distributor. Looks like whoever put the aluminum intake on used the rubber gasket that came with the gasket kit and didn’t use any RTV silicon sealant. The other thing is that the brakes are weak (work but weak) and I believe it is because the brake booster is leaking fluid and needs replaced or rebuilt to make the brakes stronger.

The car did not come with all of its original equipment however I’m including those missing items from my personal collection. Included in the sale are:

• D0OE 9426 D cast-iron intake manifold with spreadbore pattern for the Rochester carburetor
• rebuilt Carter X 4907S fuel pump
• rebuilt/restored Rochester Q-Jet carb 7040286 (this is concourse correct for a AT transmission (4spd is 7040288) but it is all I had
• restored 429CJ engine heat shield
• restored 429CJ ram air cleaner and snorkel
• D0OF 12127 AA distributor for 429CJ 4 speed cars (needs rebuilt)
• Space Saver spare tire
