I've read a few posts in the past regarding Monte Carlo bars for the 66/67 Fairlanes. I just thought I would post a few pics of the setup my brother and I fabricated for my 66 Sedan. I know that bracing the front end is not really neccessary on a Fairlane like it is on a Mustang, but long cold Ohio winters will really make you dream up some strange projects!
If anyone is interested in getting any info on how we designed this setup, let me know.
Good job.
Are you involved in Aerospace or Aircraft?
Looks like some of the things I design.
Great looking Fairlane covers.
Did you machine the COBRA off and refinish?
Take care,
Mike
Thanks Mike,
I am not involved in the aerospace field, I just have a brother that is a great fabricator. I come up with the off the wall ideas and he makes them work. The air cleaner did originally have the Cobra emblem, but I wanted to come up with something that matched the script on the valve covers.
I keep coming back to these pix . . . that Monte Carlo bar is just so DAM*ED good looking! Heck, I'd be willing to pay $100 for one exactly like it for my '67 . . .
Thanks for the compliment Orin500XL. I wish I could make more of them for other Fairlaners, but I don't think it would be very cost effective for me. It was quite a time consuming project and I think the labor of creating everything by hand would kill me. If I had the ability to automate the process, I definately would.
I have had mixed reviews from people. Some like it because its unique and some hate it because it isn't factory original looking. Oh well, you can't please everyone!!
I will have my car at the FCA Nationals in York, PA if you want to take a look at it in person.
Yes, I plan to be there on Saturday -- driving up from Annapolis, Maryland. I had hoped to have everything done by then for my car's FIRST show, but I ran into a glitch over the weekend and I may not have my instrument bezel back from the rechromers in time, which means I'll have to use my old back-up gnarly bezel.
