Check them out if you haven't already. New Order meets The Cure basically. Its very awesome stuff, the singer even sounds like Robert Smith and looks like Morrissey - they have the alternative 80's retro sound and look written all over them. A great new exciting band go and buy their debut album, and the video to the current single Fearless is equally as brilliant where each band member is on the front of a speedboat playing their instruments as they speed around on the sea.
Johnno I have to disagree. Because The Cure are original and so are New Order. The Bravery are just another band who sound like their idols. And where's the originality in that? The Bravery would just be playing weddings and bbq's if it weren't for the trend of 80's bands right now. If I want to listen to Mozz or Robert I'll listen to them not some cover band. I'm not trying to insult you Johnno but I really detest The Bravery. I read an article and they said that their sound is original because that they are mixing synths and rock. And then referred to The Killers as a band on a lower level than them. We can go on and on about bands who have done what The Bravery are doing. They know it and so do we. The concept's been done. To not admit it is completely wrong. That's why I really don't like them. They can't even admit who the actually are.
The Bravery are absolute shite. They are a manufactured band put together to rival the success of The Killers, a band who don't really sound like New Order anyway, despite being a bunch of heavily-New Order inspired fashionistas. Hell, the singer of the Bravery used to be in a shitty ska band a few years ago...up until the "retro" trend started in music...then POOF! He's dressed up like a goth Morrissey (emphasis on the "poof"). Having listened to their album and seen a few of the videos, I can say that musically they want to be very retro 80's but have very little talent, especially the singer, who doesn't sound like Robert Smith but rather sounds completely horrible. In fact, their one-hit wonder single "An Honest Pisstake" [sic] is only catchy because it completely rips off the sequencer line from New Order's song "5-8-6"----no really, listen to both songs and tell me I'm wrong. And yet all the Bravery do is try to start press feuds with the Killers for more publicity and yet don't even bother to acknowledge their obvious influences (like New Order) as more decent bands of their ilk do. They say they don't even like 80's new wave....bullshit.

O.k., I just bought their album recently on the basis of liking their song that has been getting an insane amount of airplay here. I haven't listened to the whole album yet, but I don't think that the lead singer sounds like Robert. I think he sounds like a deeper Brandon Flowers of the Killers. No one sounds like Robert, really, do they?
I never know if I like an album until I listen to it a few times, so in summary, not sure about the Bravery yet.
