BTW...We had a couples bowling night with others from my women bible study tonight and I wore my Club america shirt (the black one from the LA show in Sept 2003) and one of the other ladies husbands say's that he LOVES my shirt and just LOVES the cure....FUNNY how many times I get comments from my cure shirts and from who they come from. Last time I wore it I went to my dads office to meet for lunch and two of his co-workers went nuts about it too. LOL

Roger ain't my favorite cure member, but honestly - I'm pretty suprised Robert lacked the decency to tell him he was fired to his face.

I don't know why I would have presumed Robert had any integrity to begin with, but - I didn't expect him to be a spineless, turd either.

Spineless turd? Hmm. Well, we all knew it was coming, right? Roger hasn't been happy since Ross signed on, maybe even before. I am a bit surprised about Perry, though. I wonder when RS will put up something 'official' ? Chain of Flowers is speculating a three-piece for the summer festivals. Other message boards are specualting 'fill-ins' for the shows. Only RS himself knows what's going on, but when will he clue his fans in? I do think it's sad that there was a leak in his circle about what's just happened with Roger and Perry (and Daryl) and he should've told them before it was all over the internet. I think his tiff with Craig this week was because the leak which wound up on COF made him lose face. It will be interesting to see how this will play out (no pun intended )

I've been pushed out a band before and there is no saving face for what Robert did. It's just wrong period. Even though the rumors were going around for months it still sucks. You gotta be upfront with people. Isn't being in a band like a business??? I still love the guy but this proves that time and loyalty put into a band can just be thrown out the window. I put a post on the myspace page for Club America. Yes we have one there. Yes I run it. No no one posts from there over here. ...I think Roger was the best keyboardist The Cure ever had. wow....I do believe it was a long time coming (well since this past year) and I agree with whomever said that Roger was talking about leaving for almost a year, if you threaten "divorce" enough times someone is gonna get tired of it and call you on it.

As for Robert I always kinda pictured him with having a somewhat "michael Jackson" sindrum (spell?) He started off YOUNG and had been an idol in eyes even with his first years of followers. He was only 17 then and still a babe....Reality for him IS way different than reality for us....MAKE SENSE?

Well I am very sad for this news...I can only hope that whomever replaces them can stand up to the challenge.

need to disagree there. he was so goddamn nice. talked to lindsey for like 10 minutes bout cats. always trying to hook people up to meet the band. always doing something nice for someone everytime i saw him. im sure his departure had something to do with his brothers departure (perry).

all this was a long time coming. it was evident that robert intended on "letting roger go" for a while now. im not surprised, nor am i appalled, though i am upset that robert would be "ok" with losing someone of such high quality as Rog.

im not shitting on robert as a person, he does what he does, like anyone else, whether good deeds, mistakes, or just plain asshole behaviour. my expectations for him (and this) were not very high, to be honest, i knew it was inevitable. this is the same robert who basically implied he couldnt give two shits about the older fans...incidentally, this is the SAME robert who allowed the release of the absolute crap album..."The Cure" last year. so don't play it like it's a shocking surprise. THAT album was more of a surprised and his recent actions only exemplifiy the mediocrity he too (like many other artists) is capable of.

Perhaps, yes, Perry and Daryl leaving are a surprise and just plain upsetting...

Someone brought it up to me this morning (after dropping this bomb on me as SOON as I got home from working all night) -- this was the same person who posted, wanting an answer to the initial 'fake email', on Severin's message board -- that, although Severin made FUN of said 'fake email', he didn't really discount it..

Personally, I will be very saddened if he takes over keyboards..and don't really see Simon sticking it out for more than these summer promo dates. I dunno, I just don't.

Perry seems to be the nicest guy, he really is..and Roger has been so sweet to me on more than a couple occasions..I really just kinda..hate this. Don't understand it. Guess we will never really know what happened...

i've always felt the cure's needed a bit better producer/manager to tell robert 'no'. WMS & on i've not been terribly impressed, save a few tracks (some of which were b-sides). the latest album to rehash every typical era'd sound into one album while pining such teenage-angst anthems, ugh. maybe that poster was right, he has been in the light too much like m.j. that whole trilogy thing seemed a bit ego-feeding as well. i've heeded 'end' & must say you were right.

It does seem a bit messy. I guess all we can do is be patient. It looks almost certain to be true, but I won't invoke it as a reason to believe every Cure rumor. Countless others have been wrong before, and almost all rumors turn out to be false in the end.

On a side note, I'm new to posting here, and I'm glad this is a nice civil place, which I think says something about the people here

i'm only just now reading about the news.... it's sad, really, since they're both great musicians... but then again, back in the old days i remember thinking porl and lol were irreplaceable, but it turned out they were not so... i guess what i'm trying to say (or convince myself of) is that someone as good as roger will join the band....hopefully.

and as for simon, i strongly believe that the day simon leaves the band (or is kicked off) it would be the end of it. the cure could not be the cure without simon. no way.

Suposedly, Robert wrote the latest official news update and it said something cak like "not rumours, facts" 'cause COF had mentioned some of the latest shit & then had totake it down because no one bothered to tell Roger/Perry yet - but it seems to me that that kind of quip is in character w/ Robert's personality as a wisenheimer.

But really, they ran Craig at COF around with the info releases and then made a snide reference to the apparent confusion on the official site.

I think it sucks that these two great musicians leave the band, but we must not judge robert just for rumors on how they left the band, as far i am concerned we try to come up with our own rumors that start spreading everywhere. We have to give robert the benefit of the doubt, but we know how he is, I think there should have been stronger reasons for them to leave the band after so many years

He's always treated the members of the band like crap. Lol may have not been the best drummer, but Robert has continually bashed him. It's just in Smith's character. Someone earlier posted that he has to tear down anything that gets comfortable. Very true. Oh well, maybe Porl can help return the Cure to 1990, when they didn't suck.
