Just finished listening to Pornography all the way through. Its been ages since I've done that with this album.

What a fucking brilliant trip that album gives me (no drugs involved). I find it hard to explain what that album does to me but its unrelenting darkness and sheer ugliness fills me such emotion its hard to put into words. 'Cold' and end track 'Pornography' are freaky as you like, they send shivers up my spine and transport me into a different freakin' world. I love the retchid intensity, the emotion flooding all the way through it, Rob's black and contaminated lyrics, the sheer filth and disease ridden intoxication of it. God I'm so fucking happy for having The Cure and their music in my life! Why am I so attracted to this album? My friends would probably think I'm mad but they just wouldn't understand.

People can say what they want about Pornography (the haters) but the mood it puts me in is a form of escapism I've never experienced before, particuraly on this listen. The Cure are so brilliant when they go dark, I love their poppy stuff but the darkness is where they are just unstoppable. Marilyn Manson for one insists without Pornography he wouldn't exist. I'm no goth and I don't like labelling people or myself that way but I love dark Cure and when you listen to Pornography you realise no one can send me into that state of mind better this band! It just fuels one of my strongest beliefs that The Cure are the greatest band ever, no band can touch them when it comes to the transportation of the mind and body. Sorry but had to air that.

i totally agree. that is one of my top 3 albums for sure. probably number one.

I agree 100%!!!!!!!! I was watching concerts (dvds) with my friends (drunks) until now, they just left...and now I'm watching what I really love...my trilogy...(and of course my friends would get so bored...oh well) I went straight to the "Pornography" set !!!!!!!!!
The best ever...I have to say...it's just the most honest album ever put out there...so sexy, intimate, dark...oh well...now I gotta go..."fascination street" is on...and I gotta go...bye...

I think Pornography is their BEST album! I just love the line on Cold "Ice in my eyes and eyes like ice don't move". It's so dark and dreary, but still very deep. I also like the song "A Short Term Affect". It's one of their most dark and most emotional albums. I just love it when Robert tells his feelings in songs!

Pornography is my favorite album. It's weird, but when I started listening to it, I would put headphones on, lie on my bed at night, put the disc on repeat and eventually fall asleep listening to it. That album sinks in really deeply. I love it.

I agree. The Figurehead is my favourite off Pornography - the whole album spirals into a complete nightmare but I just can't resist it. No band at the time was producing stuff like this surely - I can't believe it when you think it was released in 1982 amongst the pop of Culture Club, Haircut 100 and Spandau Ballet etc. The Cure fuckin rule!
