Listening to my iTunes monster Cure compilation (no downloads thank you very much! - though if I could get hold of some live stuff I wouldn't hestate - har!) and Secrects popped up. I really like that song and 17 Seconds is definately a timeless album. It was also the first Cure album I ever bought. How bout you all? I used to have first presses of 17 Seconds, Faith, and Pornography (all UK, much nicer than the cheapo re-releases that came out in the US), but I think my older bother managed to move them into his vinyl collection. I forgive him because he was listening to the Cure before I even knew about them.

The first one I permantley borrowed was B-sides. the first one I bought was Pornography or TIB. One that my friends didn't already have so we could all tape them. Yes I'm that old. I taped them!
I'm old too, Arc... I taped KMKMKM, which was my second Cure album!
Disintegration was my first... One of my metalhead friends gave it to me because he didn't like it.
The first one I actually bought was Mixed Up, so that was my first exposure to some of the older songs... Then I started buying the re-releases.
Incidentally, the very first CD I ever bought was an import of 3 Imaginary Boys... I had to copy it onto cassette at a friend's house because I didn't have a CD player!

i got 3IB as an import around 79/80 - i was still in high school and REALLY into the punk scene... or anything indie/alternative. back then, alternative was truly that - alternative. only freaks, misfits and perverts would be caught dead buying that stuff. when we went into the record store, the other customers would part like the red sea. they didn't wanna catch whatever the hell we had %-)
i've been into the cure & banshees basically from the word "go"
we/they evolved as the alt-rock scene evolved.
and now it's mainstream and, to be honest, kind'a sucky.
none of these teenie-bopper bands can hold a candle to the cure/siouxsie in concert
(except a few like placebo/tool/ladytron)
all of these kiddie punk-pop bands are such a bore.
except the offspring - I LOVE THEM!!!
i guess they started the whole power-punk-pop thing.

I know this might seem like a pricy suggestion but you might consider getting Join The Dots and Trilogy. JTD is all their b-sides (well, close enough) and Trilogy is a concert of 3 albums. The last one is Disentegration. They are more than a regular CD but they will be a great way for you to get to know them and hear/see why we all love them!

yeah i keep on eye out for the trilogy dvd but its always really expensive. i might get lucky saturday though il have a look, the box set is a bit pricey so thats out of it for now. i actually have an mp3 disc with all but the last 2 albums on it, i just dont have time to burn an album off. it has the extra tracks of boys dont cry aswell so i think i might tag them onto the end of 3 imagenary boys when i have time

I have several really good live albums like the Trilogy Disintegration and Bloodflowers sets as well as Show and Coachella from 2004 if you're interested.....also if you like live Cure, I've got about ten full shows as well as about fifty tv performances from random online places.
