I was voting for Brazil (for Pinkcat) & England (we went there) after USA got ripped off by Italy's 12th man...

I wanted England to win.

Those British soccer fans sure are louder than British Cure fans! They sing more too! 80% of England watched the World Cup!!!!!!

Now I think I'd have a better time at the Toronto Games than the World Cup in 2010..

I guess it might take a while longer for USA to have a chance in the World Cup...

I really can't stand football - I can believe 80% of the English watched the world cup because whilst its on I have been enjoying shopping or swimming in such peaceful conditions. Remember how busy Oxford street and Carnaby Street was - imagine those with 80% less people. I love it, but its a little weird!
But - I'd bet on Germnay for winning the cup, only because friends who like football say they're playing best!

I don't care about soccer (even though I think it's a beautiful sport when played well), but I love the World Cup...it's about patriotism more than anything else (to me).
Anyway, France played beautifully, their goal was gorgeous, they played clean, and played much better than Brazil, so as much as I hate to say it, they deserved to win.

I think Germany is gonna win, they are playing very well, and they are playing in their country, that's always an advantage too...but I don't care who wins...

I am in shock you guys didn't make it Tat! At least you guys got further than us! I'm going to a bar n watching the game on the fourth. It'll be over by 2pm. I've been waking up at 7am just to watch the games! I love soccer. And it's true it's about patriotism. I love watching the games!

Arc the US really sucked at football!!! But maybe if we'd been having a world American football tournament they'd have done better, although we could have set some of our rugby players against you!

that's exactly what happens in argentina, blackcat. however, i also reckon football is all there is to celebrate in this country. people get outrageously excited and make a big deal about it beacuse football seems to be the only thing to be proud of, as far as being part of this country and history goes...

Zidane is such an ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!! Oh Lord!!!! I kinda liked him, even though he beat us out of two world cups, I thought he was classy...but I guess I was wrong...what a shitty way to end a remarkable career, what a dumbass! And also I'm just glad france didn't win...fuck them!!!

but Zidane is still pretty hot. And its not known what the Italian guy said to him, there may have been some provacation in play. Doesn't make head butting right but there may be some way to a reason.

@ Xmal - I'm sure there is more to celebrate than football in Argentina and to be proud of. Always looks to be some incredibly beautiful places there anyway from pics I've seen. One day I'll make it over there! Its not that British people aren't patriotic or proud of their country - its more that they're not given over to such open displays of patriotism. Which I'm pleased about, I do find it somewhat sickening. All this flag waving, I hate, its too fascistic, reminds me too much of certain episodes in history. Probably a European thing.

Yeah Jup Beckman is a great player! It's too bad he stepped down as captain but at least he still will play. And when Beckman left during his last world cup game against Brazil he left in tears for an injury. Much better than Zidane. I can't imagine ending a career like that. He didn't even recieve his medal on the field. Oh well...I am going to Euro Cup in 2008. Then the Olympics in Toronto in 2010. hopefully The Cure will tour in 2007 and 2011. Can you imagine seeing the Cure in 2011? It seems so far away!

So it turns out the italian player called Zidane a terrorrist...(Zidane is marrocan-french)...but I saw on tv today that Zidane has done it twice before (he stomped on a south arabian player during a world cup game in 98, and head butted another one in 2001), so it wasn't the heat of the moment, he is an asshole...
