did anyone read the aug 5 update on COF?
if you missed ot...here it is...
-----------------------------------------------------------------

August 5th

And all that could have been...in so many different ways....

"Wanted to give you some info on the 3 unreleased tracks from the cure's 2004 album. these were not featured on any version of the album or b-side
releases:

A Boy I Never Knew - AMAZING! Possibly the most honest and mature song Robert has ever written. Lonely Piano, Acoustic Guitar, Light Drums and Sparse String Section. Reminds me of a children's lullaby (which makes sense since he supposedly wrote it for the son he never had) Could be compared to "going nowhere" in tone, but the simple, yet catchy tune reminds me of something from Kiss Me. Overall the track could have easily fit on Disintegration.

Strum - Another song that could have lived on Disintegration (as a b-side probably) although sonicly the track has more in common with Wish-era. The lyrics are very clever and literate in a way that Robert hasn't exhibited since The Top.

Please Come Home - Another song that could have easily lived on the second side of Disintegration. The track seems a little unfinished until the
lead-in to the chorus. Then it really takes off. Jason's tribal drumming, mixed with the monolith keyboards competing with Robert's vocals really
brings me back to 1989. Sends chills and makes you realize the slow undistinguished build-up only sells the song more.

And there you go. Why these tracks never made it onto the album, I have no idea. These, plus the songs available on the vinyl release (TGB, Going
Nowhere, This Morning), easily put the 2004 album up there with Disintegration in my opinion. My favorite band of all time has not lost one ounce of talent or focus over the last 15 years- they've just made a few bad choices in terms of song selections for their albums. Maybe they'll follow their hearts on the next one...."

The re-issue maybe of 2004's The Cure....will they even do a re-issue of The Cure seeing its so recent? Mmm well I wanna hear these songs NOW! I have to admit while we're on the subject its always made me wonder why some of the better songs stay off the final album and are given the B side treatment or don't even get that, just look at Spilt Milk for instance during the Bloodflowers sessions, that is one great song. And those Wish B sides from 1992 - how This Twilight Garden, Play and The Big Hand were deemed less worthy than say Wendy Time for example is odd but I guess maybe the album just wouldnt have sounded right, I dunno.

farquad:

to answer your questions...COF is a fan site called chain of flowers. it is the best, most up to date, cure news source out there!
there is a link to it on the home page .
check it out...

and as for the release of the "lost songs"., i sure hope so!!!
lost songs have a way of getting out sooner or later...so like roger said...i guess i will have to wait and work on my patience...

I'd like to know who Anonymous is. And how he or she got a hold of these songs. Perhaps our Anonymous friend is a member of the Cure hinting at what's to come......

i thought i heard there wouldnt be any keyboard on the new album? im posting this not remembering all the songs but i think one or two had keys in them or piano. still b side perhaps... unless they were stolen or they are a close friend i dont think they would hear them if they was never a chance of it being erleased

thats farquad about the keyboards but maybe they will re-arrange them muscially, but in all honesty I don't think we'll see them till the re-issue if that even happens!!

I can wait but I'm glad the festivals are coming out

August 11 2006, 4:55 PM

I knew when I was burning the festivals that I was going to be able to hear them correctly soon. I would love to get that when it comes out. It doesn't matter when the album comes out to me either. We usually have to wait 4 years. We should be grateful it's not going to be that long:) But I'm not going to believe Robert when he says it's going to be the best thing they've ever done till I hear it. I don't any expectations..I just want to listen to it:)

I wouldn't be suprised if the rumors for France turn out to be just that. Midnight we will be able to travel more for their tour!

I don't know what Annon was doing last summer:)

August 12 2006, 12:55 AM

The summer festivals in Europe. I know one of you Annon Annon non non's were posting back then. Some of them were broadcasted over the internet in bits n pieces...It was the first time they played without keys...The band was a three piece then.

A good rule of thumb for The Cure is to ignore dates until the new album is listed officially.
